Soup Sandwiches to the rescue!! After a day of hiking and exploring in the Mountains, we were tired, sore, and hangry. Noshing throughout the day we were set on a good soup and sandwich combo. We checked multiple locations and either it was high-end foo foo or just more than we want or just worse. It was pub grub and they had one soup and they weren't sure what it was. We found Wild Flour. They offer multiple soups and sandwiches and a few treats. Kathy selected a carrot fennel bowl (massive) and served with fresh bread and butter, I had a meat and cheese grilled cheese on a focaccia bread, Of course we "shar-zies" and the comfort was enjoyed. Really nice little cafe with excellent pastries. I had the almond croissant. Crispy with tons of almonds and a decent almond flavour. The almond paste is to die for - clearly amongst the best. Sweet and rich but not too sweet. Clearly they bake it themselves and it's very substantial. I tried the apple pie cinnamon oat tea latte. Yes the name is a mouthful. It is an amazing drink. Came here a few times during our stay in banff. the vegan wrap was so yummy and we got a bunch of different pastries. It was nice to come here early in the mornings, but lines do form! I came on a tour or Banff and we had some down time so after walking the main drag, I made it my mission to try this place out. I only bought the almond and chocolate croissant and saved it for my afternoon snack. My mom and I kept smelling it on the bus (we are not allowed to eat on the bus), but the minute we had another scenic stop, we jumped off the bus, forewent the walk to the photo point and dug into that thing. My mom dubbed it the best croissant she'd ever had - I would have to say I might agree. The pastry was buttery, crisp, well laminated, also fluffy, and perfectly sweet. Neither of us were super stoked about the almond and chocolate (one or the other would have been our preference), but it was what was available. I think it's a day old chocolate croissant that they give the almond croissant treatment to - actually quite brilliant. Would have loved to try the breads too. Employees were nice. There was a bit of a wait when we got here. I got the Peppermint Mocha Latte. Coffee taste is strong. The peppermint wasn't enjoyable for me. Croissant was amazingly buttery and the sourdough loafs were so fragrant and tasty. I bought one unsliced loaf to take home to the states as a souvenir of sorts but it was so tasty my friends and I tore at it and ate half of it in merely one car ride to Lake Louise. I went back in the afternoon to get a replacement loafs but all the unsliced loafs were already sold it! Lesson learned ~ but I bought a sliced on to take back and it was still tasty. Lines are long but move fast. It's a bit hectic inside during rush hour since space can be cramped but the outdoor seating is good too if you don't mind the magpies stealing your drinks. read more

Came here for a coffee and breakfast to start off our day in Banff. The pastries here are really amazing! We had a few different varieties, I liked everything from their muffins to their scones. They have a great variety of options and their bread is second to none. The coffee on the other hand was just okay. We got a cappuccino and while it was decent it definitely could have been made a bit better. Still recommend this place. In Banff for a couple of days. Took some time to stroll through the mainstreet area of town. Lots of cute shops and restaurants. The place was busy, and very hot. I mean super, uncomfortable HOT. My spouse had to wait outside before they over heated. Lots of yummy looking bakery items. They also were selling some packaged chocolate bars, which looked interesting, so I got a couple of those. Looking for an unsweetened ice tea, and all they had was made up sweet teas. The suggestion was to get a tea, steep it, and pour it over ice. That was okay, but not as good (or cold) as what might have been cold steeped in a large container. Not sure if this is a place that I would return to. read more

Food - I liked the coffee and pastries I had in Wild Flour. It may have been the first time I had coffee with maple syrup. I tried it and I like it. I'm going to make it a thing when available. They also had a good selection of sandwiches, breads, and pastries. I got to try their nanaimo bars. Nanaimo bars are 3 layer bars made of buttercream type frosting sandwiched between chocolate (top) and graham crackers (bottom). It was good. My wife had the matcha latte. She knows her matcha, and she liked what Wild Flour had. My wife and daughter kept coming back for their croissants. I didn't get to try it, but they said it was good. They both know their croissants, so I believe them. Service/Staff - Wild Flour had good service. They got our orders right and it came out on time. The staff were friendly. Ambience/Vibe - Vibe was what I would expect from a coffee shop. There were people who just came by to grab their drinks and go on their way. There were customers sitting down, chitchatting or on their laptops/mobile devices. They had lots of tables for customers. The interior was nice. Their breads and pastries were displayed nicely, with clear names and prices. The menu up on the wall was clear and easy to see. Would I go back? I went back once or twice during our stay in Banff. I stopped by Wildflour Café to try their focaccia bread, but unfortunately, most of the items were already sold out since it was late in the day. If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend coming earlier to get the best selection. I ended up getting the meat sandwich and they asked if I wanted the bread toasted and i sure did and that topped it off well. The café has a self-serve area where you can grab hot sauce, ketchup, tap water, and utensils. It's definitely a DIY-style spot, great if you're looking for a quick, casual bite. This was our go-to spot for mornings and snacks during our trip to Banff. We discovered it just walking around as the location is in the center of town on a side street. Came here because of hype on reviews on pastries. Not sure if I came too late in the morning, but I didn't see much of anything I wanted (based on Yelpie's photos). I ordered a London fog latte, Apple muffin, Apple Morning Bun, and a Cinnamon swirl. There were a lot of people indoor enjoying their cup of jo and pastries. Only one person sat outside and brave the cold. I liked that it was just around the corner to the hotel and I discovered later that there was another location on the main street of Banff Downtown. I brought the goodies to the hotel and shared them. OMG! The pastries were sooooo gooooooood! The apple muffin was sooooooo moist and dense, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm never a muffin person - so they won me over. The apple morning bun was good, more like a croissant with apple custard on top. The cinnamon swirl with maybe pecans or walnut was also good. I had to save half of it and the muffin for later. It was flakey on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The maple latte smelled so nice on our rainy week in Banff. It didn't taste overly sweet. The dandelion mushroom latte was new to me. It tasted earthy and light. It was calming which made me second guess whether I made the right choice that morning, since I needed something more caffeinated for our long day of adventure. There's definitely a bit of a wait if you come during peak hours in the morning, when everyone's getting ready to head out to places but the wait wasn't too bad if you are standing there, snacking on a maple twist. read more
