I used to love this place and from time to time I've seen customer service go down the drain. From longer waits even when they're not busy. One is being rude by treating other customers of colors differently than the other. Coming from the U.S. this is not how we treat people especially if you are in customer service industry. I've been coming here for about 1.5 years now and I promise you that next time I am here which is some time this month I will not be coming back here. I will find a new place that deserves hungry customer like me They will sit you down but they will let you wait about 15 minutes before even asking you if you need anything to drink then when you give them which you have to do by the time they come back with your drink otherwise you will have to wait another 20 minutes if you're lucky. Ones they take your order you'll have to wait another 20-30 minutes for them to bring your food and you would think it will be hot but it's lukewarm and the fries are cold. So it seems like it's been sitting there too long. I guess you can excuse if they are not busy I've been in the restaurant when there's barely customers and it's still the same sometimes worse. Waiters just stands around in a circle chatting with each other: I think the owner of the restaurant should know thanks happening. I really like their food but I'm sorry my dinner shouldn't take 2.5hrs. Check out the other restaurants around it. There's a lot. I wish I went to the ramen place around the corner -- next time I'll do that instead.

Recommended by my hotel, Chez Leon was all that and more! It's a big spot, but looked really small when I first walked in - it wasn't until I used the bathroom I realized how massive the restaurant is. We were seated near the front and provided menus right away. I ordered a tripel and went with a lunch option where I got a salad, entree, and dessert. I ordered sausages for my entree. My salad was amazing, my sausages were amazing, and my dessert was amazing. Oh yeah, and my tripel was amazing. Chez Leon was good start to finish. I hope to visit and eat there again someday.

Was recommended the spot from a local and I'm so glad I decided to try it out. I had one of the best dinners on my trip for an amazing price. The waiter knew exactly how to help me as a first time in Brussels and what to recommend. The restaurant is big inside, but is decorated to make you feel homey. If you're in the area THIS IS THE SPOT TO TRY!

I came here while visiting Brussels since it was number one spot to visit and when we passed by the lines were out the door. To start with the service wasn't great , they were not friendly and welcoming at all , it honestly felt like because we are Americans I couldn't help but noticing how they were with other non American people . The food , was ok nothing special. The mussels with Parmesan cheese, and for entree the famous beef stew. It was a little tight and uncomfortable to have a set shoulder to shoulder with other people ( mind you I'm small and it felt super tight) .

We stopped by for lunch after a walking tour in the area. I'm so glad I did some research before we sat down because this is a touristy area and there are similar restaurants up and down these streets. This was an incredible meal and some of the freshest mussels I've ever had. We shared the mussels and a salad and I wouldnt recommend the salad but the mussels were so good!! Service was quick as theyre used to having a lunch rush. We sat inside and its very cozy inside.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a local in Brussels. I certainly thought it was worth trying, but I wouldn't necessarily come back. The food was solid--I loved the fried mussels and dressing in the Chez Leon salad. I personally preferred the plain mussels over the mussels topped with cheese. However, both service and ambiance were severely lacking. We were seated next to a table full of extremely loud toddlers and were unable to enjoy a relaxing lunch break. The staff seemed to be overly busy, bustling about everywhere and often neglecting our table. It just felt extremely chaotic.

Great food, i would say that the best mussels in the zone. The sitting pretty good,. Space between table good enough to do not feel uncomfortable. Even being so busy the service was really good and good timing. I learned that this one doesn't have to do anything from D' Leon in Paris. Both are great.

Mushroom toast, mussels, cheese croquettes, and Leon beer of course!

We came to Chez Leon for my husband's birthday on a recent trip, and it was one of the highlights of our time visiting Brussels. This place is an institution, and I totally see why! They have an extensive menu and do have some vegetarian options as well. He ordered mussels (a must), and I had the vegetarian toast. Both were amazing, and washed down well with their house beer. We will definitely be back if we are ever back in Brussels! We had a great time and were very impressed with the outstanding service.

When In Brussels you have to try the mussels and these were very good. The white wine. Sauce was tasty. Sitting outside was very nice and the house beer Elias delicious.

Been waiting so long to try this place! Got reservation but you could walk in if your party was 2-4. Very organized kitchen and fast paced restaurant. You sit, you order, you drink, you eat and You are out! Loved the service and the vibe of this authentic place. To be honest there were more item we wanted to order but we were full. I ordered their signature garlic pesto mussel, fried. Calamari and Mixed fish plate! All so Gooooooooood! Since I came back I ve been searching to find the place like them in OC. Pricing was reasonable as well.

    Chillin' with some new friends.

WOW!! The service is GREAT!! The food is great and the people watching is great!! It's just a tad more expensive, but nothing major. Be forewarned... although the food is fantastic - the portions are HUGE. We should have shared meals, but once again, the prices fooled us! I encourage you to sit back, share a meal with the most amazing fruits, and a cool beer or wine, and enjoy your time!

We came back Friday night of our trip with additional family members. Definitely make a reservation if coming for dinner. I had to try the mussels this time! We also casually mentioned it was my sister in law's birthday. They later surprised us with birthday dessert! And they sang!! It was such a wonderful celebration. The staff were super amazing!!

They're famous for their seafood paella with lobster, which is a must-try here. We skipped it since we wanted to save our full paella experience for Barcelona. I ordered the seafood spaghetti and my husband fell in love with it lol. There's something special about the sauce, so rich and flavorful. It was so good that we had to come back again before leaving the city. We also had the mussels, of course. You can't come to Brussels and not do "mussels in Brussels." The white wine sauce was amazing, and the frites that came with it were hot, fresh, and perfect for dipping. Portions are generous and everything is great for sharing. We also loved the fresh rolls they bring out at the start. The service is great! The ambiance is cozy and relaxed, perfect for a casual dinner or a special night out. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. If I'm ever back in Brussels, I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Outdoor seating was the most popular but we dined inside out of the heat. Fans helped a bit but more would be better. Our server highlighted the lobster and sharing dishes but we ended up just getting paella and grilled fish. I was quite happy with the sea bream which was a substantial portion for the price. It was cooked nicely and very meaty with a mild flavor. The accompanying sides were not an afterthought since vegetables were tender, seasoned and the fried potato cylinders added a little texture. The paella was also a decent choice with lots of seafood variety but if the rice was wetter than expected and missing the browned crunchy aspect. The entrees were quite filling and we didn't have enough space for dessert. Service was as expected. One item to point out, we caught whiffs of cigarette smoke from the diners outside (via open front windows) which was a bit annoying.

No reservations, so you have to wait in line. Luckily, the line moved pretty quickly and we were able to be seated inside. -service was great. The fabulously dressed flamboyant gentleman was kind and helpful. The sassy woman was hilarious! -Portions are pretty decently sized and priced fairly Why three stars? I just didn't enjoy anything that we ordered. Sadly, it was my least favorite meal that we had in Belgium. Based on all the reviews, I think it's clear that it's not the place per se, but what I was looking for. That being said, I still must be honest. What we ordered: Cheddar Croquettes (2 for 14 Euros): Just ok and this was one of the things that I felt was overpriced Carpaccio of Smoked Beef with White Truffle Oil (18 Euros): Again, just ok Meatloaf with "Jack Pepper" sauce (26 Euros): "Jack Pepper" means something different in Brussels. It was basically a peppercorn gravy. I wasn't a fan, but Jim G. enjoyed it. With this, we had frites and a small side salad. I know many people recommend that Flemish Beef Stew, but we already had that at Fin de Siecle, and I couldn't imagine that any place would top it, so we didn't get it here. Ultimately, this place isn't for me, but I seem to be in the minority.
