Such quality nurses and care. All of the staff was amazing. I stayed for a week because of my illness and they were so good to me.

Hypertensive Crisis, no nurse at the desk, just a security officer who wouldn't look up from her phone. Told me to sit down that they would get to me after ..... and pointed off into the distance. We headed out the door to go to the downtown heart institute and a nurse chased us down and said she would take care of us which consisted of taking my info and BP which was then 225 over 112. Waited over 2 hours to get treatment. One of the nurses while installing an IV port, talked about my veins like I wasn't in the room (super disrespectful). They gave me some oral Clonidine, took blood to test for organ damage, did a chest xray then sent me home with an RX. I'm furious and cannot recommend going there for anything, certainly not a medical emergency. read more

Visited the ER recently. Nurse was nice, doctor and nurse practioner were not. Nurse practitioner did not even introduce himself, we had no idea who he was. He had zero bedside manner. The doctor came in after I had already been there several hours having tests. He let me know I would be admitted. So much bad happened that it would have been comical had I not been so sick. I did report my ER visit as well as my hospital stay to the administrator. I was not happy at all. Wound strongly think about having to return there. read more

This ER is really a joke and people have walked out because of not getting care, and when they do get you back there in the ER You won't get treated for another 4 to 6 Hours even if no one was in the ER, so I don't recommend going to this ER. read more

I checked in to the ER late Wednesday night writhing in 9/10 pain from appendicitis. From the moment I got there nobody seemed to care. The ER was nearly empty, I saw 1-2 other patients the entire time. I was squirming, all over the place, dry heaving into a vomit bag for hours making my unbearable pain even worse. And wouldn't you know, they took their sweet time to do EVERYTHING. From having 3 of my 5 iv attempts in under 6 hours infiltrate, to needing nausea and pain meds, to never getting a pillow or a sip of water to swish & spit after vomiting all night, to begging for information about when my appendectomy would be. I walked down the hall to pee and I had been hearing all of them gossiping at the nurses station all night but to my surprise it was even worse, they had a monopoly game going on and were eating their door dash orders while I begged & pleaded for help for hours from my room. It took all night to get my nausea and pain under control where if they had cared, it would have been a priority. I never mentioned to them I've been a med-surg/tele nurse my whole career but maybe I should have and they would have done their job. The little red headed girl that looked like she was 15 made sure to eat her food and chat before getting my line started. She stuck twice completely ignoring where I told her they have gotten it every single time I've been a patient. Of course she didn't get it. A few more hours passed and another guy came in and stuck and got one but it blew. Then more time passed & another RN resident that looked like he was planning to try out for a boy band later in his shift came in and stuck twice and that one infiltrated too. Had they listened to me this could all have been avoided. Instead I suffered. Then in the middle of their board game my iv kept going off so I hit silence (having used these machines for over 6 years on the floor myself, I know how to work them). Boyband got sassy and told me to let them handle that. Well I would have, but you took 30 mins to come turn it off because your board game and food was more important. This also being the gentleman who spoke on "only having one patient right now (talking about me) so it's only fair I get the admit" as I walked by. This ER needs a serious overhaul. I've never seen such compassion fatigue from staff. And I worked clean through Covid in understaffed hospitals across the country. Go ANYWHERE else. You'll thank me. read more

I found the care and attention at this ER to be commendable! Not perfect especially on a Monday after a holiday where we had to wait for more than 3 hours. That was terrible but also not their fault. Security walked around checking on people and handing out blankets and the staff was very helpful! Once we got in the room the doctors and nurses were thorough and very caring! They got my mother admitted to the hospital for COVID and complications of that and they handled it very well. My father was also confirmed COVID but had a number of Other issues to work through which his doctors did very well. After they released us the first day, we had to return the next day for a new issue and they again were very attentive caring and went the extra mile to help us. We would absolutely return! read more

I paid my Deductible when I was having surgery August 2023. They owe me money back. They sent me a text that they had credited my card which I no longer had. So the money never made it back to me. I had to send them my bank statement proving I didn't get it! Their accounting obviously doesn't calculate correctly. One person said yes we got your bank statement. I had to go to the library to have it faxed. One lady said, it should have kicked back and alerted accounting dept. Here it is March, they still haven't refunded me! This is called stealing! If I owed it to them! You can bet they would have sent me to a collection agency. They demand their money up front, they Keep what they owe the patient back!! Again, this is no different than a thief. The billing department needs to get their act together!!! The facility was great! I have no complaints about the care I had during my outpatient surgery. read more

What I liked: The staff were kind, helpful and professional when helping. What I did not like was that my wait took 4.5 hours to be assessed. It was a zoo, with people flooding the lobby and ambulances arriving. Sympathetic to the staff who appeared to be totally overwhelmed by how many were there. No toilet paper in bathroom. After requesting and waiting 30 minutes asked another who directed me to another area where there was some. Sitting in the lobby I heard each person being checked in their name and symptoms (heart, kidney stone, infections, respiratory issues, etc. I told 2 staff this was concerning and neither commented. The physician was complaining to a nurse outside my room of something that made him upset. I complained of two issues that were probably related and there was no exam of those areas. read more

Honesty, unless it's a true "your dieing" emergency, skip this ER. Husband went in for some medical issues including chest pain and chest discomfort. Sign in, triaged. Took a seat, then walk back in the room for an ekg, then back to the waiting room. Then back for a chest X-ray. Then back to the waiting room. 3 hrs later after multiple people were seen for lesser issues and who came in after us went, they finally called his name. To the room we go, old, unsanitary and no one explained anything going on. Gave him an IV (unneeded) 1.5 hrs later took him to CT and came back. 2 hrs go by of him sitting there, not on a monitor, pulse ox, or no cuff even with the iv flowing TKO...which is completely unprofessional and dangerous for possible overload!!! I went out to find a RN. No one at the desk. Waited 15 mins for a RN to come to the desk. 10 mins later they walk in and go "yeah your all good, could maybe (insert medical issue) but your discharged here are your meds. I asked specifically for a PPI Med (Prilosec not Pepcid) it treats differently & of course it's for Pepcid and a waste. I'd rather for to a vet. read more

My with had an outpatient procedure today. She called to the pre registration number and confirmed her information yesterday. The man she spoke with told her to go in and register at the Emergency Room. My wife is disabled and cannot walk very far. When my wife arrive at the appointed location, the employees advised her to walk all the way across the hospital to the other side of the building. This is totally unacceptable! The folks at the Outpatient Services entrance told us the pre registation process has been outsourced to a out of town company and this happens all the time. Don't place your life in jeopardy by using a hospital who doesn't know what they are doing! read more

Needed a catheter. Wasn't able to urinate. Desk lady saw how much pain I was in and rushed me right back. Dr was great. Nurse was very compassionate. Was in and out in less than an hour. Great job CHI Hixson read more

I had to take my mom here for a sonogram for her neck. The staff and volunteers were extremely friendly. My mother was out quicker than they thought it would take. they have free coffee and water. I enjoyed the air conditioner since I was traveling in a vehicle without it on that day. read more

I was treated in the ER at CHI Memorial in Hixson for nausea and vomiting blood. I had an excellent experience. I had the most amazing RN (shout out to my nurse, Randy C), who made sure I did not want for anything. The physician was very professional and service was prompt. I was genuinely pleased to see how professional, pleasant and polite everyone was. The pharmacy hand-carried my meds to my room so that we didn't have to wait, and the lab tech who waited for labs while nurse Randy accessed my port-a-cath was lovely to chat with. Labs were fast, my diagnosis prompt (and thankfully, not serious). I was in and out in less than three hours and cannot recommend this hosptial (at least the ER) enough. I would definitely choose CHI Memorial Hixson again. read more
