Had such a lovely time at Chi Spa! I made an appointment for a one-hour sangre de fruta massage very easily by emailing the spa. On the day of, I arrived an hour early to my appointment and was able to access their other amenities like the outdoor pool, hot tub and fitness centre. The locker room is well equipped and even had a sauna in the women's changing room. Really enjoyed the hot tub pre-treatment - it was cool being in the heart of downtown while getting some rest and relaxation. About ten minutes before my massage time, I got ready and was served some amazing ginger tea before being led to the massage room. Yuko was fantastic. There are a few individual massage rooms, and even a couple room. The room was again very relaxing and well equipped with its own washroom, shower, robe, etc. The sangre de fruta products were so great and the oil and body butter used made my skin so soft! We booked a spa day and it was just the perfect amount of time spent. We both had the Sanctuary Ultimate Treatment, which is 75 min massage with private eucalyptus shower afterwards. There is pre and post beverages. We also added in CBD Oil and Hair Mask too. I knew I would be super antsy if I added in a soak and a massage as it's just too exhausting to spend that much time in one area. What we really enjoyed like all Shangri La franchises is how the layout is very similar in every country. I really could be in Guangzhou or Tokyo. I was first introduced to this hotel chain over decade ago and the touches of it's signature hotel fragrance and linen is unparalleled. Pros I knew it was a beautiful intimate private space. Super relaxing city escape. Cons We had pool access (not from the spa package) and other amenities, as the location was super central with tall buildings surrounded, the feeling of being exposed is real (compared to Willow Stream Spa or even Westin Bayshore). The massage itself was "ok" and relaxing. I liked the option of the CBD oil. The hair mask, I would pass. Come for an intimate relaxing escape. Don't expect your muscle knots to be gone. read more

Came here for an RMT massage at 11:30am on a weekday. The spa was fairly empty. I arrived at 11am thinking it would be like other spas that like you to come early to enjoy the amenities. They do not like when you come early here. It is ideal to arrive 5-10 mins before your appointment and the amenity enjoyment is after your treatment. The massage was excellent and the facility is very nice. Unfortunately it's not a stay and enjoy kind of space. The pre/post treatment area is very small and set up to sign you in 5 mins before your treatment and for about 10 mins after your treatment. The locker room requires a key card to access which is great if you are a hotel guest but terrible if you are a spa visitor. I was unable to get into the locker room after my treatment as no one was in the health club area to scan me in. The change rooms are also small and lacking basic amenities like hair spray and a comb for getting ready. Overall, the massage was really good but I was looking for more of a relaxing, extended experience. There are other spas in the area that provide this at the same price point. read more

I did not have services performed. I was here being curious about the location. The aroma was luscious and the vibe was relaxing. I'm sure there was music playing but since I was freezing cold...my senses were still frozen. I was delighted to see the heated outdoor pool and jacuzzi being enjoyed by a family with child! Awesome...because I know this child will have a wonderful memory of cold weather associated with a luxurious hot tub and pool. The female spa staff member greeted me with a warm healthy hello (compared to the concierge on the main floor...who immediately told me the hotels amenities including the Vancouver area restaurant suggestions of the Shangri-la hotel were for hotel guests only...but she would assist me)...my head says a WTF kinda BS is that. The Ritz has never turned me down in any city or country I've been to and they've ALWAYS been 100% ready to assist because you might be there next guest!!! Anyway...I digress. My visit to this spa was a highlight during my trip to Vancouver. I booked a non-RMT massage with Ayesha and she was INCREDIBLE. I've had many massages--in LA, NYC, Thailand, etc.--and Ayesha gave me the best massage I've ever had. She has strong hands and never let up (in the best way). I felt truly pampered, healed, and cared for during our session; she was thoughtful to my requests/needs and was very intuitive. My office treated us for a hot stone massage two Christmases running. Fantastic experience. Be sure to know in advance whether your in a single room or double room (couples room). You begin by going through a checklist (wants, wishes, health) then are seated in a reception area (they hang your coat). Then you are escorted to a more lavish waiting area with chocolate covered ginger, trail mix and fruity water surrounded by high end beauty skin products lining the shelving. Your planned assistant/masseuse is introduced and together you are led to the treatment room and then to each change room, shower shoes and robes pointed out, where to put belongings, what to listen for when to come out into the personal treatment room and to wait in the moist tile-lined steam room. The clang of the unseen bell goes off and you're to hang your robe on the peg, kick of flip flops abd crawl face down into the linen of the treatment bed. Waiting. And so it begins in peeled layers, moisturizing lotion, warmed smooth stones. Pressure. Amazing. The tinkling sounds winding into the room. Eventually you're asked to turn over and are delicately assisted. And before long sadly it must end. You are offered use of the steam room to finish (in your change room) then when done dress and return to the last waiting room to rejoin anyone you came with. A glass of champagne. If further access to the amenities offered are wished, and a bathing suit forgotten - they freely offer "temporary up to 5 uses disposable swim suits". The Chi Spa at Shangri-La... Overall a nice experience however there are a few things that could have been better... 1. There are NO extras in the change room. You would expect from a five star hotel or club there to be: body lotion, hairspray, razors, mouthwash etc. It is VERY barebones in the change room (maybe because this area is shared with residents). Even when I nicely asked, it was an ordeal. A few extras for spa guests would go a long way here. 2. The pool, hot tub and showers were luke warm and the shower would not go any hotter. 3. Change areas are locked so you need to ask the front desk to let you in which is a pain (again, probably because this area is shared with residents) Overall a decent spa day and I was very grateful for the birthday cake and bubbly! My wife surprised me with a massage for Father's Day. However, I woke up with flu like symptoms which might have been Covid-19. So in the interest of their staffs well being, I did the right thing by asking if I could re-schedule my appointment. They said that was not possible and charged me $105.00! Insider tip : If you opt for a spa service, you can enjoy the pool/sauna/hot tub amenities even if you aren't a guest of the hotel. I had some free time so ended up at the spa over 2 hours early for my manicure. I ordered myself some champagne and a delicious watermelon gazpacho with poached shrimp. Amazing. Service was super attentive and lovely. The girl who did my manicure was so sweet (I am sorry I forgot her name!) and I was so relaxed when I left. Such a nice escape!! The facilities were calming and beautiful - lived up to the reputation - 5 stars. Unfortunately my massage was not remotely in the ballpark of decent. I get a lot of massages and I am not being petty. The massage therapist was just lovely as a person, but had obviously just learned massage and had not had a chance to practice. I reluctantly shared my experience and disappointment with management afterward and I was told this was surprising as she was "one of their most requested therapists". Digging deeper this was technically true - she is requested for facials and beauty treatments which she is trained in but she was so clearly really beginning with massage. I was offered a free spa shower if I booked another massage with a more qualified masseur. Not the kind of response that seemed appropriate after spending just shy of $500. read more

Absolutely gorgeous treatment rooms and the service was phenomenal. I do hope they figure out a way to incorporate a more cohesive feel by enabling privacy to the dressing and shower areas as part of the spa instead of having to walk past the workout area. So much to like about this spa. There is a juice bar where you can order food and direct access to a lovely pool on the 5th floor of the hotel. It is a nice component to be able to have the outdoors available while enjoying a spa day. I highly recommend going mid week to avoid any crowds. The reception area really lacks in maintaining a quiet atmosphere as the employees, ect. can be heard in the lounge waiting area. It seems they just need to tighten up the gaps on what is otherwise a very nice high end spa. read more

Always heard good things about this place, so I booked a Saturday morning to visit with high hopes. There was not many other guests when I went, so it felt somewhat private. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the place was nice. However, I did find the spa quite small and didn't have as many facilities as other spas. If the place was more filled up, it would have felt crammed because there was only one working shower, and a few lockers available. They also didn't have a lot of refreshments for guests, just ginger tea and water. Next time if I'm looking for a luxury RMT service, I will go to Pacific Rim instead. This was the perfect place to chill out for an afternoon. I opted to get a pedicure from their spa menu. It was a little on the pricey side, costing $90. It was worth the price since we got to use the spa facilities for as long as we wanted. The place was not busy at all. We ended up having the outdoor pool and hot tub to ourselves for hours! Looking forward to visiting again! Next time I will take advantage of the bar and relax by the pool with a few cocktails. read more

A Spa indeed! Compared to other highend hotel spas: The massage rooms have their own shower, change room with a stocked vanity - nice! Services are on par and on point for a high end Spa. The lounge area is small and is the same for those waiting for a treatment and those lounging in a robe. The small pool and hot tub are just across from the spa. You'd have to take your stuff over to the change rooms and then use the pool. I really, really want to like Chi, the Spa at Shangri-La. But I can't... We had the experience of a lifetime there (in a negative way). We had a couples RMT massage, this is not our first time there....but the RMT for my husband skims on 5-10 mins of time every time we're there. Even when my RMT is still working on my head, his RMT is already washing his hands...gathering my robe and his (i.e. wasting time)....and they disappeared for the longest time, i.e. 5+ mins, "waiting" for us to get changed into our robe. I didn't center my head in the head rest properly so my left eye was laying on top of the towel that covers the head rest. Immediately after my massage, it starts to burn and get swollen....I have a serious eye infection and I'm on anti-bacterial drops now. I can't imagine what kind of germs existed in those towels. Last time I was there I discovered the "clean towel" placed on the rack had makeup/foundation on it, I was willing to overlook that as a "one-off" incident. I don't want to imagine what kind of germs in a towel would give me an eye infection! We went to use the hot tub at the Shangri-La. There 's a big guy there in the hot tub already, but we went in anyway. BIG MISTAKE. Turns out he has significant BO issues. And he kept splashing the hot tub water into his armpits and putting his armpit where the jets are to wash it. Then he started to sing to himself loudly....in Arabic. Sigh. We took off to get showered and changed. Went to the ladies change room...I took the last towel. By the time I left (i.e. 1/2 hour later), the towels still were not replenished. The change room had literally NO TOWELS. We went to the spa reception desk to pay....turns out, other female customers had their cash stolen and are busy talking to the receptionist. I can't believe a spa at a newer 5-star hotel will have theft issues like that! Especially considering the change rooms require key access, can it possibly be an inside job? Honestly, we frequent the Willow Stream at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, Spa Utopia, Sense Spa at Hotel Georgia, and Absolute Spa regularly. We've never had horrible experiences like this. I'm especially disturbed with the eye infection incident....so, as much as we'd like to like Chi, I'm very disappointed in their services and I don't think we'll be back. PS, did I mention my RMT gave me scratches on my right shoulder, left hips, and a tight neck? I had problems turning my neck after the massage. If I get soreness, ok, that's normal. But the 10 years I've had RMT massage I have NEVER had a tight neck after a massage. read more

It was a last minute decision to try this spa. The Web menu doesn't quite describe the treatments as well as I would like (what products are used in the wrap? - is there only one type of wrap?), so I was hesitant to make an appointment. After we checked into the Shangri-La, I went downstairs and asked if there was anything available for either a massage or wrap. The welcoming receptionist found an opening and I was in within 40 minutes! The sitting area (see posted pictures) was comfortable and well-stocked with soothing ginger-honey tea and light snacks. I filled out a quick information card and was promptly greeted by the therapist. The suites at this spa are self-contained with bathrooms, a steam-bath shower, infinity tub, and treatment table. Mine had a gas fireplace and extra seating. Quite beautiful! The West Coast Wrap uses SeaFlora products (seaweed) with an exfoliant, body polish, and body gel. I hadn't had a seaweed wrap before and I feel slightly guilty for making a silly comment that I felt like a sushi roll. The therapist handled every detail professionally and she explained each step thoroughly. Soothing, relaxing, and peaceful. I do wish there were other wraps available, but I will go back and try a massage to compare. Next time, I will bring my swimsuit and gym clothing to take full advantage of the hot tub and workout facilities. A much need personal moment at a beautiful spa. read more

We booked massage appointments here at 5:30pm last Saturday and showed up a little after 3 because if you book any appointment you are able to use the facilities (sauna, steam room, gym, outdoor pool) the entire day. We entered the hotel and were greeted very kindly and respectfully by all the staff, from start to finish. Tea and flavored water service are included, we had champagne and pinot noir, which were priced fairly. The spa's decor is extremely elegant - dark, quiet, woody. The pool and hot tub are both very small. I feel like it would fill up fast in the busy tourist season, so maybe don't come for a relaxing day in the summer if you want to spend a few hours using the facilities. The women's changing room has a steam room, the men's has a sauna. It's too bad they aren't outside for interchanged use. Each of our massages were done in a private room with a bathtub, eucalyptus steam room, and foot soak. The girls who did them were lovely and really listened to what we wanted regarding pressure and areas to work on. It was quite personalized and I felt like I was melting into the bed! After our massages, they escorted us to the sitting room for more tea/water and because we booked it as a special event, they brought us complimentary champagne. There was no rush for us to leave whatsoever. It is an extremely calm environment. I want to try out different spas in Vancouver, but the Shangri-La would be one I return to! read more

Will never return, spa is most definitely not worth the price point. - Amenities are terrible. The co-ed lounge area is very, very small. You serve yourself water and dried fruit. You must ask front desk or attendants for tea -- which is a powdered mix! - You have to get buzzed into the change rooms by an attendant who is never there. The change rooms have zero amenities. No separate shampoo or conditioner, no lotion, not even Kleenex. - I got an XL robe and disposable slippers that were incredibly slippery on the pool deck. Lockers don't even have bags for your wet bathing suit. Attendant tried to give me a clear garbage bag. No towels unless you ask attendant. - Hot tub is broken. No jets, just hot water. Too cold to use the pool. - The treatment rooms are absolutely beautiful but you don't get to use any of it. Most beautiful changing area, shower, bath and sitting area with fireplace. read more

My sisters and i spent a day at the Chi spa last weekend. I have to say we were a bit disappointed. The gym was surprisingly well equipped for a hotel gym. Our massages were amazing but the amenities after that were meh. The cleanliness was definitely needs improvement. After we had our massage we sat in the outdoor hot tub which was warm. We walked into the heated outdoor pool which was cold. Then we checked out the sauna. The floors were a dirty with hair, muddy footprints and an apple core . The hamper was over flowing with towels and robes and so was the garbage can. I have to say i will not be returning here. read more

So accommodating, friendly and clearly passionate about her job. I was given a mini-tour of the spa and could not get over the size of the rooms and how beautiful they were. To my knowledge there are only two Spas in the city that do a real luxury Spa experience. This one and Willow Stream at Fairmont Pacific Rim They both are worth 5 stars (there is nothing better in this city) and I will compare. Willow stream. Has a better change room. The women's change room has an experience shower with the 20 jets (apparently the Men's doesn't). Willow stream has individual hot tubs (i've never been there when it was busy so i'm not sure if you ever had to share). They have a better pre-massage drink and food selection (it was very small so it shouldn't impact your opinion). Willow stream has slightly more professional wait staff when you are post-massge eating and drinking. Chi. Directly accesses the hotel pool. so it's fun to hang out there afterwards., there is only one hot tub. so you will always be sharing and there may be hotel guests with kids. Chi has a decent selection of hotel asian food. i actually always get a Nasi Goreng and hang out at the pool and have wine after my massages. Chi seems to be less busy vs Willow Stream. The bar and lounge staff near the pool tend me to be younger guys who are not the most polished, but I actually prefer that more casual feel over Willow Stream. Both places take costco gift cards (either way spa or spa finder). To my recollection Chi is slightly less expensive. Of course you cannot use these discounts with RMTs So there you go. both are good. I wish Chi didn't have the awkward transition from the Spa to the lounge area for somebody to buzz you into the change rooms. and I wish Pacific Rim's spa area accessed their quite lovely pool. read more

I finally had a chance to sit and write a review on the fantastic service that I received from this place. When I got there I was greeted professionally and served the most amazing ginger tea....of which I am now on a mission to find out the brand so I can make it at home. I booked a deep tissue massage with the therapist named Roya, she is not registered but she has the most amazing hands. You can tell she really loves what she does and has the most healing energy too. Its almost like she can tell where you need the most work and just gets right to it. The pricing is a bit high for the services, however that is to be expected for a world class spa. The design is beautiful and the ambiance is nice. I would return, but not as often as I would like to due to the pricing. But I can honestly say I have never had that wonderful of a massage. read more

The main thing about Chi spa is that it's not just a massage but the whole experience around it. You start with outdoor jacuzzi and pool, served with orange infused sparkling water, put on your super cozy bathrobe and continue to your huge size, extra pampering private room where you get ready to the massage, that's include tea and magazines and hot steam four sided shower, just that alone worth die for. The massage therapists are awesome, professional and very nice which is s great way to wrap your spa day experience. The only down sides are the prices ($150-$175 per person for massage) and the customer service at the front desk which could be much better and not snobby. I also expect the parking were include for an expensive spa, but it's not. I was taken to the treatment room, it's a big size treatment room include own private washroom and steam room inside. The room was quite spacious, had nice, simple decor and was presentable. Very luxurious experience coming here, but I haven't been to enough spas to compare to a lot of them. I came here with my best friend for a manicure and pedicure. They start with a soak followed by a salt scrub and moisturizer that makes your skin sooo soft and smooth. The cosmetologists were also very thorough in making sure your nails look perfect afterwards. During your treatment you can sip on ginger tea or lemon water, and eat some dried fruits that they readily on hand. (I didn't have so much since they were working on my hands only). I had my massage 2 days ago and I'm still sore in the best way (I asked for deep pressure). I asked for her to focus on my back and she really did. Although it is a beautiful looking spa, unfortunately my personal experience was just 'ok'. I booked an RMT a couple weeks ago. Upon arrival, I found the customer service to be so rehearsed, that it just felt awkward. The receptionist sat me in the waiting area, which was very small. I noticed others were snacking on dried fruit and sipping tea, which wasn't offered to me. I waited a couple of minutes before I was greeted by the massage therapist (I can't remember her name unfortunately). She was pleasant, but again, it didn't feel genuine. Anyways, I went into the massage room. The massage itself -- just 'ok'. Most of it was an elbow massage, which doesn't do much for me. Even though I informed her at the beginning that I prefer a deeper massage, my massage wasn't really customized. She also didn't ask how the pressure was during the massage (like most practitioners should do). On the other hand, I thought she was very nice and we chatted throughout the rest of my treatment. Afterwards I asked if there are any amenities that I could use after my massage. Turns out they have a small sauna in gym change rooms, and an outdoor whirlpool. She told me to let reception know that I'd like to use the amenities. While I waited in the lounging area, I was brought a ginger tea, which was delicious (still no dried fruit?) Upon leaving the spa, I asked if I could borrow a robe and slippers as I wanted to use the hot tub and steam room. The receptionists seemed surprised or something (shouldn't amenities/robes already be offered just like Willow Stream or any other high end Spa?). Anyways, they brought me the robe, I thanked them, and I used the steam room and left early (the whole experience was just plain uncomfortable). Payment: Right after my payment went through, the receptionist handed me a comment card, which I filled out - WHILE she watched (again, uncomfortable!). The spa at the Shangri-La, Chi, is truly a little slice of heaven. My mother (the greatest!) gave me a half day at the spa recently and it redefined what a spa experience can be. I work for a luxury hotel company and have been fortunate enough to stay at many of our properties, many of them with award winning spas. Loyalties aside, Chi was the best spa experience I have ever had. The physical space was stunning and the materials they used fit the feel of the spa perfectly. From the moment you step off the elevator, it's a total sensory event. A serene water wall guides the way to the spa where you're greeted by the receptionist. The welcome is warm and inviting and they quickly escort you to the waiting area. The waiting area is comfortable, but nothing truly special. What is special is the treatment suites. There is no shared space and in each room you have a relaxation area, a dressing room, a shower, treatment table and soaking tub. All treatments start with a foot washing ritual and tea chosen to match your energy/state of mind/???. All of the following treatments were top notch...many of the products used are locally made and the service was phenomenal. Side note...had I been able to smuggle the Kashwere slippers out of there, I would have. There was just the right amount of interaction and I never felt pressured to chat. Also, while it wasn't inexpensive, I do feel like you get your money's worth and compared to other high end spa's in town, their pricing was in line. The massage was one of the best I ever had (Yuko was the massage therapist), but the facilities were not what I expected. Everything was tiny -- very small pool area, locker room, waiting area -- and residents in the building get to use the spa, too. That means young kids and their noise/antics at the pool and elsewhere. Not exactly the "zen" experience I was expecting. And the woman's locker room did not have a dry spa, only a steam room. Perhaps it would be best to come early or late in the day during the work week. Not a good use of $200+ Canadian dollars. read more

I made my reservation through Jenelle on the phone. We had a really great talk and really got me excited to celebrate my anniversary. We both mentioned how sorry we both were as she was off (Sunday) on the day I made the appointment, it would have been so lovely to meet her! She talked about the spa so highly and passionately. I was on the wait list for Saturday and Jenelle personally would call me each time an opportunity came up! Too bad the times offered were always too early for me, but it was nice to know I was always being thought of! Although I was not staying at the Shangri-La hotel, I briefly mentioned that I was staying at the Four Seasons to Jenelle on the phone. To my shock when I checked into the Four Seasons hotel Saturday afternoon there was a hand written letter FROM Jenelle. Saying Happy Anniversary with a lovely quote "Where there is love, there is life" This truly touched our hearts The confirmation for the spa was there too which made me even more excited and looked forward to the spa. From reception at the spa, we felt so welcomed. Every one was really very nice. After we filled out of forms, we were given to option to use the spa facilities. We decided to relax in the hot tub before we got started. It was spectacular, we felt like we were in the middle of the city as the views of the surrounding buildings and lights were beautiful in the nights sky. The experience was nothing short of amazing, and the staff made us feel extremely pampered and special- Sarah, Cassandra, and Georgia truly made our experience wonderful and we so appreciate how cared for they made us feel the entire time. After our tour of the couples suite (very luxurious and peaceful atmosphere) we received a foot washing which included a foot massage and scrub while we sipped on some tea. After our 20 minute steam in our steam room we started our massages. The massage tables were the most comfortable I've ever experienced- they were heated and the blankets were so soft and cozy, we didn't want to leave! We both enjoyed our massages very much, we both actually dozed off for a bit! After our massages we were brought back into the facility area where were served a chocolate dessert with writing that greeted us "Happy Anniversary" along with some champagne. We would recommend this spa to anyone who wants to get PAMPERED and feel on top of the world! We had an amazing anniversary and so happy we decided to choose CHI to celebrate with! read more
