Their Korean soy garlic chicken wings and legs are amazing! I always get them for parties and football games! Now I just found out they are open on Sundays from 2-6 p.m. which makes football Sundays even more delicious and fun days to have on festivities and Sundays!

First there are new owners. Disappointed! Ordered the family fish which I always order. The fish is tiny and fried in old grease. Kids running around. Very disappointed. I had my mouth set on the Korean fried fish to perfection! Waste of my money and gave me fries as an extra, I guess so they were cold and soggy.

Ordered 8-pc chicken wings and was quite surprise with its amazing crunch and spices! Authentic Korean fried chicken - best in town! the lady was also nice and neatly wrapped up the take-out box. This place is a mom-n-pop's operation so don't look for the ambiance rather the tasty food they serve. I will most definitely return to try out the rest of the menu. Glad I tried this place today!

Boy oh boy, this mom and pop restaurant did NOT disappoint. Not the kind of place (size) for a big party but the food is beyond amazing My girlfriend and I tried the calamari platter w/fries, EXTRA hot and spicy chicken, and the curry chicken. Personally, it's been hard for me to find GOOD calamari + a good sauce other than cocktail here in the 757 area. They brought me out fresh calamari with a sweet dipping sauce, cooked to perfection. The extra spicy wasn't as spicy as I hoped for. Now I have noticed with many Asian owned restaurants they tend to hold back on the spice. But next time (because I definitely will spend my money, in this economy, with them) I'll just have to let them know I'm not afraid of no heat! Burn my tongue off if you will But for the main dish, the chicken curry - 20/10 would definitely recommend ‼ I know I said the calamari was cooked to perfection, but the chicken was perfectly cooked!!!! As I explore more local restaurants in the 757 area, I've come to appreciate businesses like this. It makes each bite better than the last Not only was the food amazing but the staff was too! The only thing I would suggest is maybe playing some kind of background music? Maybe it's just me, but I look for the vibes at any establishment. Most times I want a little bit of background music so it's not always silent. Other than that, Chic n Fish is legit and cannot wait to taste the rest of the menu!

The best Korean fried chicken in Newport News. Pleasant service always, the food is always tasty, and it's reasonably priced.

Yelp has got it right! This is a true local gem serving up fantastic Korean style chicken. As their name eludes to they also have fish. However, if you come here for the first time you better be ordering Mr. Hwang's authentic Korean chicken. The location is in East Newport News on highway 17. Exit 64W to J Clyde Blvd East. They are across from the Holiday Inn in a strip with a massage and vape shop, so they got to be good right, HA! Signage is good and slow down to prevent passing and a U-Turn. There is adequate shared parking in the private lot. I found no debris any where out front. My visit was on a Wednesday just after they opened at 11:10 AM. Mr. Hwang was in the back prepping, no one else was around up front. I sat down at a table and it took several minutes, but I was not in a hurry. When he did come out I looked over the menu which was on the counter. I decided to grab a beer from their stand up cooler and ordered 8 Soy Korean wings and the fried Whiting sandwich. All drinks are can/bottle. The prices are very affordable. Around 11:20 a man and woman came in who I found out was Mr. Hwang a daughter and son n' law. They were running late and apologized. The dining room can accommodate 30, or so. However, I hear that more than 90% of the business is take out. Every table was clean and floors tidy. The eating area was dark and dated. Lighting could be improved by opening the blinds. The soy garlic wings hit the table first in around 15 minutes. The plating was nothing overly fancy, no big deal. That first bite and tug of the meat sent my taste buds in a happy place. Crispy with popping scrumptious flavors. I knew this was the real deal and was excited at my find. The fish sandwich came out around 5 minutes later. I had never tried Whiting before, so no offense it was just too bland even with the accompanying lettuce, tomato and onion. It was cooked perfectly, just not for me. I'm a fan! Chic n Fish has been in business 7 years and has a strong following on the peninsula and the southside. I understand why. When it comes to authentic Korean wings there are few places in Tidewater. The new Bonchon in Norfolk is one. Comparing the two in my opinion Bonchon has an edge, but the pricing is so affordable advantage Chic n Fish. Recommend as a strong 4, you will love!

Best fried chicken in town! We order them plain and sauce on the side and it comes out crunchy and delish. Their Kimchi is the best too!

The chicken was fresh- but it was very under seasoned- but I am assuming if you get a some sort of sauce on your wings you are good

They love shopping at the E-Mart next door and the bakery. So it came recommended. I'm glad it did because my husband would love it here. The interior I am told can get warm in the summer as the AC may not be operable. But, I can not fully confirm that at this time. The interior is nicely decorated. The parking lot is huge, and shares with other businesses. Service was great. She was attentive and came through with any special requests. Our drinks were consistently full, and the food came out piping hot. I opted for the fried rice. It was pretty good. A few of my friends raved about their fried rice. The beef bulgogi was a favorite with my group. I did not hear any complaints on the food. Overall a fantastic experience, and the taste buds were happy. Pricing was reasonable and affordable. I walked out spending just a little under $20 for a ginger ale, and fried rice. After paying they gave us some pocky. Such a cute sentiment for Valentine's Day.

FOOD COMA ALERT!!! MUST EAT!!!…read more I had my husband pick up dinner from here so I can't review on service or ambience myself. My husband did say that the guy working there was friendly and super helpful. Food-wise though, I can definitely review. I was impressed off the bat with the packaging of the food. It came in a cardboard box with a handle, making for clean and easy transport while looking aesthetically pleasing. Even unboxing it, the presentation of it was packed away nicely and all food items were separate. Not going to lie, I was a little worried and disappointed when I saw the wings. I'm so used to wings looking saucy and normally when wings look dry, it's a sign that it's not going to be good. But that small negativity was squashed when I took my first bite! Not only were the wings super flavorful, it was juicy and well-cooked. I love how big the wings were, making the portions well deserved its price. The fries were also golden and crispy. I only got to each 2 wings each (4 altogether) before getting satisfyingly full. I can't wait to dig into the rest for lunch tomorrow! Overall, I will definitely be getting my wings here instead of wing stop when I'm craving some chicken. Everyone must come and try this place out!

I got a 6pc spicy garlic wing with fries. If you're in a hurry you should order ahead because everything is made to order; mine took prob a hair over 10 mins. But, both the fries and wings were super hot so I had to give them a few to cool down. When I got the wings the guy asked me if I liked the hot spice, I said yes, he laughed then handed me some gloves. At that point I got a lil nervous. As someone who likes spice, this was perfect...enough to get my sinuses going with great flavor. The only drawback was that they were too hot heat (not spice) wise and I didn't wait long enough before getting into them. Check the place out, it's worth the trip.

I was told by some trusted sources that there were two other mom-and-pop Korean grocery stores other than the Grand Mart and E-marts of the area! I happened to be in the Peninsula and decided to pop in for some goodies before my next appointment. When you walk in, to the left, they have the refrigerators with the produce and the wall in the back is lined with more fridges and freezers to store all the cold, perishable and frozen items. I saw things like fresh perilla leaves, kongnamul (Korean bean sprouts) and what I loved about this particular mart was that they had a good variety of ready, grab-n-go banchan in smaller sizes. I was told by the nice lady who worked there that they make kimbap on the daily (if you didn't know, the best and cheapest way to get kimbap is at almost all the Korean grocery stores). She also said that the owner makes all the banchan and usually makes them on fridays. I picked up things like purple potato starch noodles (say what?! The noodles used for japchae are purple...maybe the Koreans are getting on the ube train...), a box of Bacchus-D (Korean energy drink that was the inspo behind Red Bull), Banana milk, Coffee milk, and some Korean ssuk gae-tteok, which is a chrysanthemum leaf rice cake (or muwgwort), coated in a bean powder! It was SO GOOD and so fresh! It's a Korean version of mochi, if you're familiar with that. All in all, I can't wait to go back and stock up on banchan that I am too lazy to make and try their kimbap. Things to note: I was told that this is strictly a Korean grocery store and not an "International" one as most of the Asian grocery stores label themselves. There are no other products related to other Asian cuisines, just Korean. Enjoy, Friends!
