I've been looking for a place that does GelX nails and I found them through Google. I called and asked if they took walk ins and they stated they did but made me an appointment for the same day (which was great!) I went in hesitant that I would be disappointed but I was so wrong. The nail tech was sweet (I didn't catch her name, sorry!) and quick. I showed her a photo of what I wanted and she definitely delivered! ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! went in for a full set, and the lady (sandy) was incredibly rude, and unwelcoming. After showing what i wanted to have done the lady proceeded to shape my nails wrong, and cut the tips shorter than my natural nail. After speaking up and explaining what was wrong both Sandy and Kyle proceeded to tell me i was wasting their time, and it was my fault. i asked politely to have them reshaped and new tips, however they explained that i would need to pay for both sets. Horrible experience, wasted $70 without tip on a full set that i got redone at mia's nail bar where they were cheaper, could actually do designs, and everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming, and understanding as this was not the first time they re-did nails from chic. read more

I went in for a deluxe pedicure and got the worst pedicure ever. The young man who did the pedicure did not trim or shape the nails, did not clean up the cuticles, and the leg massage was less then my kid could do. When he was done he walked away without telling me how long to wait so they could dry, he didn't even come back to check them before putting my socks on. I got a call so didn't take the time to look at them until I got home, when I did check the nails they were pointy n sharp, the dry skin still looks bad and the polish wasn't dry n stuck to my sock. I did check n they felt dry so feel like he didn't provide customer service n come back to verify. Would not recommend this place at all. read more

Gorgeous new nail salon in Waukee! This upscale salon is eloquently decorated and extremely clean. Their system to pick out dipping colors is the best I have seen. They offer books with the colors to pick out, which makes the process very easy. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. Will definitely return! read more

First time here, probably my last i waited almost 1 hour for someone to get started on my manicure, claimed they "forgot" after I was done with my pedicure. In the time I was here I saw a woman get rejected from her nail stylist for being "too particular" so they started going back and forth. Then another young lady walked in and proceeded to argue about the wait time and she called the police about it, they showed up and talked to her. Same lady started harassing the young receptionist which made her go to the back and start crying. A lot of drama for what was supposed to be a relaxing Sunday. read more

I have been going to Chic Nails for several months. I followed my favorite stylist from the previous salon she worked at. I adore her. She was unavailable one day when my mother wanted her nails done so we made appointments. We always get the dip. I had a woman I didn't know do my nails. When she started I told her that my cuticles were freakish and needed to be specificly trimmed because they are problematic. She ignored me. I literally told her 7 times during my dip manicure that my cuticles are a problem and need to be trimmed. She said she would do it after the dip. Despite my continued reminders, all she ever did was run the file over them. When she was done it looked OK but not like my usual stylist. Fast forward 5 days and my nails look terrible! My nails usually look great for 2 and a half to 3 weeks. As I was swamped with work on day 5 so I called on day 6. I explained the situation and was told to text pictures. I texted the pictures you see here. I asked to have it redone at no cost. Someone, I think her name was Andrea, called me back. She identified herself as one of 3 owners. She was absolutely unapologetic and said 1. It was my fault for not doing more during the manicure. 2. Leaving the salon without saying anything. 3. They will only consider addressing something within 24 hours. 4. It was not a problem that my nails look like this 6 days out( she first said over a week out and I reminded her that hadn't been a week. She refused to redo the manicure. I asked if she had an idea how to make this right, and she continued to insist there was nothing wrong. I brought myself and 2 others with me to the salon as regular customers going every 3 weeks for $45 manicures. I told her I couldn't believe she was treating me that way and that she had a choice- either make and effort to make it right or that I would post a review with pictures on yelp and Facebook. She accused me of threatening her and continued to blame me. By this point I was absolutely furious and I am following through with my "threat". If you go to Chic Nails and something goes wrong, you will be blamed, chastised and nothing will be done to remedy the problem. I will truly miss my stylist, as I mentioned I switched salons and followed her to Chic, but I won't spend another penny given that they value their customers so little. read more

I paid for the second most expensive pedicure and it was not even worth the price of the least expensive. They didn't scrub or massage for more than 5 minutes. My feet were still rough when I left. I definitely don't recommend. read more

I really had high hopes for this place because I love the name and the decor however I went for a mani and pedi and got a bloody cuticle cut when I made it clear at the beginning I didn't want my cuticles cut for the very reason and to just cut the sides, my nails looked like I did them myself. To make matters worst after I pointed out some of the mistakes the nail technician tried to fixed it with her cuticle cutter that was rusty as hell. I'm happy I recorded everything so if I get any infection I will be suing their ass for it. read more

So 2days later I come in for an appt and they claim not to have me on file and turned my service away. I have spent upwards of $150. In one session here and they were completely unapologetic , had no solutions and were cold and rude about THERE mistake. There's too many great salons in the area WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. read more

First timer. Walked in at 11 and they said they didn't have me down. Asked for a marble dip design as I saw a great picture on their Facebook page. I asked if they could re-do it, she refused, and it turned out looking like this. Also made me bleed, but the other nails turned out looking okay. The lady cut my cuticles so deep I was bleeding on four fingers. One was so bad we had to stop for 10 minutes to try to get the bleeding to stop. It's still bleeding 20 minutes later. I finally told her I was done and I don't want my nails done anymore since they hurt so bad. She still made me pay full price for the mediocre pedicure I received. I will never come back here. i had an idea of what I wanted my nails to look like before I went into the salon. now usually I am not hard to please. I go with the flow most of the time. I wanted white tips with a glitter ombré on every single nail. and then a dark red sparkly snowflake on one nail and a dark red lines to reflect a candy cane on the other nail. The nail tech indicated she understood. Right off the bat she argued with me about the length of my nails. why do they always want long nails? I work in healthcare and cannot have long nails, plus it's hard for me to do my job. Then she picked a bright red color and told me she was going to put it on the one nail for a candy cane. I told her I didn't want that but she told me her way is better. I said whatever. She also picked a bright red color for the snowflake and I told her I wanted dark red and sparkly. she again stated her way was better. so at this point I am so mad. I let her finish and then I go up to pay. the entire time I am paying she is standing right next to me waiting for me to give her a tip. she didn't deserve a tip. I could not bring up my concerns because she was hovering over me making me uncomfortable. immediately after I left I called and talked to manager who proceeded to tell me that they cannot refund me but I can come back to have it fixed. I will not be going back to this salon and I will definitely be telling everyone I know to stay away from this place. If I am the one paying for my nails, I get to choose what I want and I should not have to argue with the tech on what's best for me. worst experience I have ever had. I left to go to another salon to have them fix it and I've never been happier. read more

Yesterday was my first day going to chic nails and I didn't have the best experience. First of all, the person that was doing my nails was putting on the tips and I asked for her to go shorter but she went like 1/4th of a centimeter shorter. Secondly, she didn't even cover my whole nail with the dip so I can still see my nail. Lastly, they were really rough on my nails, with the hand it's self and with the finger. My sister went there and had a great experience, but me, not so much. I will not be going there again. read more

Today was my first day trying chic nails. And I was not very happy with how my nails turned out, they are really bulky and the tip of them are wide. I asked for tips but they didn't give me tips, and they Kept asking is I wanted them without tips. They also didn't talk much to me, they just pointed with their fingers as if I knew what to do. This place is way overpriced and does a horrible job. My manicure looks sloppy and the nail polish is so far away from the bottom of my nails that they look short & already look grown out and I got them done today. I had nail polish on the skin of my toes and the cuticles of both my nails and toes looked awful. When I asked if she could touch up my cuticles she told me they "looked great" instead of trying to fix them. This was my first time here...and my last! I had an appointment for a manicure yet when I got there I waited 45 minutes! Then when the tech finally started working on me she kept trying to talk me into something i didn't want..and I told her so. However, she kept on trying...it was uncomfortable. Then when I was finally done and went to pay I was charged 10.00 more than expected. I was told the polish I picked was more expensive!! Why wouldn't they tell me that up front? It was in the book with all the other colors and no indication that it was any different. Its the principal of the matter. Be prepared for a 2 hr manicure...and not even a food one. read more
