I was a part of the May 2019 Denver Beauty/Bridal/ Social Media workshop, there are very few makeup artist schools in Denver and I'm so thankful this school does pop ups here! This school was definitely worth the price in my opinion! I'm extremely into makeup and try to learn about new products and techniques everyday but this school taught me SO MUCH in just 3 days I was blown away! The class was a great mixture of listening/note taking, watching live demos, and hands on practice all taught by the amazingly talented and patient instructor Kayti which was so helpful for remembering the content since it was all in 3 days! Also, the products we got as part of our kits were all amazing products that were super easy to learn with that I would even love to go get for my personal use! My two main concerns were learning sanitation and learning how to speed up my application time on others, from this class I learned everything I would need about sanitation as well as brought my application time down from 2 1/2 hours to about an hour and 15 minutes!! An awesome end to the 3 days was getting our own models to work on and a photoshoot of our makeup we did on them! Plus, Amy was so awesome at breaking down the essentials for boosting our social media business! Thanks to the class I feel prepared for my future as a makeup artist: I have techniques to streamline my work, a great start to my makeup kit, and plenty of pictures to start my portfolio thanks to all the hands on work and photoshoot at the end. I used to watch a lot of makeup tutorials on youtube hoping to become a pro, but, nothing ever compares to the very personal, educational and pleasant experience at Chic Studios. I left chic feeling extremely confident, equipped, and like a real professional. The environment is very positive, pleasant and safe for learning. The staff is incredible!! My 3 favorite parts: #1: IT'S A VERY HANDS ON EXPERIENCE. The instructor starts by teaching new skills/rules, then demonstrates it on a model. After that students get to practice on models as well, and receive compliments and constructive criticism on their work. #2: THEY TEACH YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW IN ORDER TO BECOME A PRO. Including the things that you wouldn't even know to ask or hear from a YouTube video. And they all make such a difference! They also teach you the science behind the makeup, ex. color wheel, mixing colors to create a foundation, the base of a product- consistency, use, what cannot be mixed etc. #3: THEY ARE EXTREMELY ACCOMMODATING AND ARE HERE TO MAKE YOU HAPPY. I was in my 8th month pregnant when I wanted to go back to Chic Studios to learn airbrushing. My schedule was very full at that time and didn't work out with the school calendar. Amy arranged a class for me and I was able to take it before my baby!! I was referred to this school by a professional makeup artist, and it was the best choice ever! P.S. When I first decided I wanted to move to the United States from my home in Valencia, Spain, I knew that I wanted to make my experience in New York City as fulfilling as possible. I graduated with a degree in Business Studies from International University of Southern Europe, but knew that corporate work would not be for me. So, I began researching for schools that would be of my personal interests. I ran across Chic Studios NYC by chance, and I am so happy I did! It is a school for aspiring makeup artists, and when I spoke with the admissions department and director, I knew it was going to be the perfect place for me. The courses were not only interesting, but the hands-on and personal attention the teacher provided was more than I can say for my fancy business degree! And, not only was the class fun, but at the end I was able to test my makeup artistry skills in a real life setting in a photo shoot with a model and photographer. To say I was impressed would be an understatement! I am glad I chose Chic Studios NYC over other makeup schools in NYC who were more "drive through" makeup classes, instead of intensive coursework. I am now in business for myself as a freelance makeup artist, and needless to say, I have a steady clientele and lots of new customers a day because of my portfolio work with Chic Studios. I graduated yesterday from Chic Studios-NYC! I only had two classmates due to Covid. Temperature checks daily and face masks and a lot of hand sanitizing as well as sanitizing our work stations and makeup and brushes. From a Covid standpoint I felt very safe. They also offer online classes. All of the instructors have a minimum of 8+ years in the beauty industry. Many of them working with TV shows and Fashion shows. Many of them work with celebrities too. When I was in class I really felt their creativity and qualifications speak for themselves through their work ethic and makeup creations. Chic Studios offers a variety of classes in New York City, Los Angelos and Denver as well as online. They offer payment plans too. They offer daytime, nighttime and weekend classes. When you come in for your free tour you get a complementary gift. Chic provides their students with a basic starter makeup kit. Graduates receive discounts on certain makeup brands. Chic supports their students for life with job assistance and more. I took the Masters Makeup class which is a 150 hours class. I learnt makeup for Fashion + Runway, Bridal, Everyday + Evening, TV + Music Video, Airbrush Makeup and hair styling. We also had a class on social media and business marketing. I had been thinking of a way to get back into being creative and artistic and thought that makeup would be a great fit. I had done a lot of performing in my past and really enjoyed the makeup piece so it seemed like something I would enjoy. Being a guy I was intimidated about signing up for a makeup class knowing I would, most likely, be the only dude in the class. I signed up for the Chic Studios class at the last minute and hoped for the best. I was not disappointed. I was very nervous at first but Amy and Fred, both amazing instructors, made me feel comfortable and included me right from the start of the course. Not having the advantage of putting on makeup daily put me at a disadvantage on some of the techniques. The instructors made sure any questions I had were answered and got me up to speed on any technique struggles I was having. The other people in the class we also very supportive and these things made the 3 days turn into a really great learning experience and confidence builder. The instruction and Pro tips by all Makeup Artist, Fred, Amy and Kimsty, were so helpful and the discussions on how to grow your business were very relevant. I left with the confidence that I could become a Makeup Artist, with practice, and be successful. Attending Chic Studios to further my makeup career was the best decision of my life. I was taught by the most talented and amazing artists and who were more to us than instructors. They were our friends and encouraged us to grow and made sure we knew the important information to become a successful Makeup Artist. My class of 15 girls shared a bond like nothing I've ever experienced before. Everyone was positive and encouraging and there was no judgment. We were all there with the passion and love of makeup and the girls and the staff at Chic made the 6 weeks the best time of my life. I've made memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. They have a great program after you graduate that keeps you in contact with all the graduates and job openings. The school exceeded my expectations and I was sad to leave!!! They helped us start our makeup kit and gave us an airbrush gun and all the tools and info we need to succeed in this industry. In the 6 week program I was able to take a hair class as well so I'm now able to style hair for weddings and dances as well as apply their makeup. I also learned the keys to healthy skincare and am able to educate clients on the importance of healthy skin and how to achieve a healthy natural glow. I attended the school 3 years ago. This is where I got my start in makeup. I had always been interested in makeup but had never pursued it. I walked into speak with someone and also had the pleasure of sitting and watching a demo. That's all it took for me to realize this is where I needed to be. This school is amazing!!! They have Financial assistance now. For what other schools want you can't get the same for this price. You get what you need, a great starter kit, detailed classes, an instructor that is knowledgeable but still works in the industry and great staff. Also product knowledge is unlimited here it's not like other schools where they only use their brand makeup. Here you aren't placed in huge classes. You get a more one on one feeling. Your always greeted with a smile and help is everywhere! At the end they have a final where models and a photographer come in. You do the makeup and you get your first set of pictures for your portfolio. This is so important when starting out! I also attend where people wanted to master makeup on themselves or learn how to airbrush. When you leave the school you still get updates on events. I am living the dream thanks to Chic Studios and its founder Amy Nicole!!!! Ever since I was a young girl I loved make-up! I never thought it could become my profession and actually make me MONEY!! and LOTS of it!!! Believe me if I can do it then you can too!!!! I felt compelled to write a review about Chic Studios as there are not many on the net and I didn't want people to be put off from going there because of that. I also didn't want people to be put off from going there because it is much cheaper than other schools in the area. I always believed that cheap meant second rate but I can say without a doubt that this is not the case with Chic Studios. Amy taught me to apply make-up with a confidence. Hygiene is of paramount importance at Chic. I am definitely one of the most hygienic make-up artists out there and I love Chic for teaching me that. It is definitely noted and appreciated by all the models and clients I have worked with. I have yet to take any of the add on courses but I can't wait to. If like me you are oohing and ahhing about heading to Chic I would say DO IT. I had the best time on my course, met some great people. Friends for life. Absolutely love this school !!!! Wish I could attend over and over again , it was heart breaking to leave. My experience started with Christina, which was the reason I joined that particular school, she was so welcoming and bubbly and friendly when I called . She was very helpful and remained helpful when I was in the school and even after graduation . My main instructor was Ruthie , who was so nice ,talented ,sweet and funny . I wish I could just have a copy of her that I could take with me everywhere I go . She taught me so much and her class was so much fun ,honestly this was the first school I ever liked and stayed till finish and she was the reason why. She also took time out of her day to take us shopping for makeup and help us with any questions.My other instructor was Jonny , he also was a doll. One of the best investments I've ever made! Chic offers more affordable options compared to other makeup schools & makes sure students get all they can out of the courses. The instuctors do a great job teaching advanced techniques, hygiene practices, industry standards, & important business aspects that one wouldn't learn (or learn as quickly) as a self-taught artist, or what you can't learn from YouTube. I also appreciate being able to pick the instructors' brains & learn more about what they know (as working artists) was most important for students to understand in the business & industry overall. Students get hands-on practice in the classroom using real professional products/supplies and models provided by the school. The school also gives students a great makeup kit to both use in class & as a good starter kit for work. Another great benefit for students attending Chic Studios is the Chic Pro Community for Chic Graduates. As a recent grad myself, I've already received a couple of opportunities from the Pro Community! I'm so grateful for all the training & support Chic has given me! Took the professional makeup artist course here last fall! It was everything I hoped for! The cost was low, which is good for me since I was banking on a career change. I took the evening class with Ruthie the instructor and was there every weeknight after working a long day at a boring desk job. Ruthie was phenomenal!!! She kept the class going at a pace that was suitable for the students and since our experience ranged (I have never done makeup professionally, just on myself and friends), she adjusted her technique per our capabilities. Plus, she's hilarious, and it really made learning really fun! (although makeup is fun, anyway! ) The staff is so friendly, the studio is clean and well kept, and the makeup kit was sufficient. The program was exactly what I needed - it gave me the confidence to pursue this career, and I am now a freelance makeup artist. I would highly recommend this course to someone looking to be a makeup artist! I researched and toured other schools and you will not find something more worth your time and money. The small class size was perfect as it really felt like we had undivided attention. And I made such great friends too, with my peers! :) read more

I decided to sign up for the 4-week makeup artistry program on a whim. Honestly, my hopes were kinda low based on some of the Yelp reviews. But my sad bank account and even worse work schedule made it difficult to commit to other schools in the area (some of them are like 10K!!) Chic studios was the cheapest so I figured I didn't have a lot to lose. I took my course in November, and had the best most rewarding experience. I wanted to learn to do makeup to make some side money with my cousin who does hair for a lot of weddings. I entered the course thinking there is no way in 4 weeks I was going to learn what I needed. But the course and instructor, Ruthie, far passed my expectations! I loved that the course was very hands on, and Ruthie was so encouraging through the whole process. I'm not gonna lie, I have serious confidence issues sometimes (don't we all? lol), but she made me really secure with what I was able to do. Now, I have a skill that helps me make extra money in this tough economy (and make all my friends look hot lol). Love Chic! I am saving up now to take some advanced courses too!! read more

I had a wonderful experience at Chic Studios. As a first time student I didn't know what to expect and was amazed by the school. The teachers are very experienced and have diverse backgrounds with specialties that really give you a great broad background. The instructors really take the time to help you learn and are very supportive. I can honestly say thanks to my instructors I learned to apply makeup on any skin shade and from basic beauty to Runway. My favorite was bridal makeup week where we cover from the most natural bride to a full glam technique. The school itself is very clean and I felt safe the whole time with my other classmates wearing masks. It's located easily by subway and they provide the students with beginner kits and then as you learn you know what works for you and what doesn't. I also love that after you finish Chic it is a community and you can stay connected and learn about opportunities even in this competitive environment I feel better about my future. Fantastic school. Not sure who is complaining about pricing but this is by far the most affordable yet informative makeup school in nyc. I took the 5 week master class and there was nothing basic about it. Yes the beginning starts with the basics unless you enrolled in private lessons. I've been a makeup artist for quite a few years but I wanted to learn all of the things that books, YouTube, and experience hasn't taught me. This school provided that and more. The course includes a full complete kit, portfolio photos (your partners will be your model so take advantage of all the skin tones and ages), a professional photo of your best work, a $400 airbrush, HAIRSTYLING, and a great network of very well seasoned professionals who are always available to help. You can go to a mac counter but you will not walk out a serious makeup artist. I'm sure the artist you will meet hasn't been in the game 10-20+ years and will give you their contact info to teach you what you NEED to know. Great school. Great value. Great people. read more

I really thank Chic Studios NYC - School of Makeup for teaching very smoothly for beginners who wish to build their career as an artist as it teaches us in detail how to get the perfect look. Last but not least I would really appreciate the teacher as she was amazing with her work and guidance, more over super friendly and approachable. She will guide you through all your mistakes and give personal attention to each student. I loved Chic Studios. The school is amazing, and everyone is really nice, The instructors are really nice and try to help you succeed. One thing that stood out to me is how you'll have different teachers for different days, so you can see how each person approaches the makeup, and choose a path for yourself. I took Focus Techniques, and Tv and Music video for add on. If you are only going to take one I suggest Focus techniques, you spend a day mastering a few techniques, and I got a lot better. Tv and Music Video was a lot of fun, and helpful, but didn't apply to me as much as I am hoping to work as a freelance artist, but I still think it was worth it. The add on weeks are great, Airbrush is useful to know and we were lucky to have the creator from one of the Temptu airbrush foundations come and give us an demo, we also had people from sephora come speak about the store, and took resume's,the classrooms are beautiful and bright... all in all it's a great school! read more
