If I have said it once, I have said it 1,000 times...this place is truly AMAZING! My son had used them back in 2009 when moving from San Diego to Chicago, their service was outstanding. Recently, my sons lease was coming up and he needed to find a new place. My son is very busy traveling for his job, so since the clock was ticking...rapidly, we made a decision to go back to Beth at Chicago Apartments and Condos for her expertise. While he was out of the country, I contacted Beth from California and she went on the hunt. Upon my sons return she took him out and showed him several places... knowing that he had approximately 7 days to find a place, get approved, sign his lease and move in...was quite stressful, however, Beth worked with him, listened to his 'wants' and 'needs' and found him an awesome apartment. Over the rest of the weekend she worked on all of the paperwork and was able to turn a 7 day process into a ONE (1) day process. She is truly amazing...and all of her co-workers really work as a team in helping out each other and their clients. I would definitely recommend using the expertise and dedication that they give each and every client, no matter what the clients 'needs' are. I email them at 7:30pm requesting to see a unit they listed on Craigslist. Emily responds quickly suggesting I see it at 1pm the following day. The following morning, when I confirm the time, they tell me the unit rented the previous evening, and that because I didn't respond faster, they assumed I wasn't going to confirm. No mention whatsoever of the fact that they were showing the apartment that evening (I live about 5 houses away from it so could have been there in 2 minutes) or that it was being looked at all, or of the fact that it was rented, and that I shouldn't count on the time the agent suggested. I try to call to figure out what happened - Emily (presumably unknowingly) hangs up on me. I try to call again, and go to voicemail. I try to call the office - nobody picks up. Who knows. Apparently, people have had good experiences with them about which they have posted. As for me, I'm still reeling in bewilderment at the whatever just happened. All seems strange to me. read more

I guess I am writing from a different standpoint than most of the reviewers here, as I am a landlord and I use Chicago Apartments and Condos to rent out my units. With all of the new locator services popping up in Chicago, professionalism and well trained agents seem to have fallen by the wayside, which is why Chicago Apartments and Condos is such a breath of fresh air. Their agents are always courteous and professional, and they do a great job of renting out my units. As a landlord, I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a company that will find you qualified tenants without asking you questions they should already know the answer to. I have dealt with nearly a dozen apartment finders in Chicago. I had mixed experiences with each of them. Most just showed whatever they needed to get rid of first. This company's business goals are completely different. They actually listen to you. A novelty! I will probably never leave my current apartment as its THAT cute. Beth was an absolute dream come true and I have no problem giving her tons of business. It was an absolute joy working with Tim! I inquired about an online listing and Tim promptly contacted me to schedule a showing. Tim was on time to the showing and not only was he prepared to show me the property I inquired about, he thoughtfully identified other similar listings in the area within my budget and scheduled same-day showings for those too. Tim was honest and thoughtful, and was kind enough to drive me through town from showing to showing. The entire showing/application/leasing process was complete within 5 days of the first showing. In the past, moving has been a dreadful and daunting experience for me, but this time, Tim made it stress/worry-free and delivered above and beyond in a short window of time. My sister and I worked with Owen Bradley about a year ago while searching for an apartment in Chicago. He was very polite, honest and responsive. We had a limited amount of time to find and sign a lease which was then complicated by the fact that she was living in Wisconsin and I was leaving for Portland for a week during our apartment search. Owen worked around our schedules and kept us updated on any new developments. We were going to look at two apartments but after he informed us that the second apartment was in disrepair and did not think it was suitable given the cost of rent we only saw one, which we loved and signed. read more

I was referred to this company by a co-worker who told me he had a good experience with them renting out his condo. Unfortunately, he must've been one of the lucky ones to actually receive good service from Chicago Apartments and Condos. I emailed this company and explained that my husband and I are desperately looking to rent out our condo and rent a bigger place for ourselves. We've had nothing but bad experiences with other companies and Chicago Apartments and Condos sadly was not the exception. After two emails sent, I decided to call directly and was transferred to Tim, I explained my situation to him, and this is what he said to me: "were you the one who emailed us a couple times? I thought I emailed you back telling you we don't work in your area". Needless to say, extremely unprofessional; I understand if they don't work in my area, which is absurd to begin with, but there was no need for the smart remark and much less for Tim to lie pretty much to my face, because I NEVER received any reply to my emails. Oh well, I am happy to hear that other people have had great experiences with Chicago Apartments and Condos; I guess in my case, they just had better things to do than to help potential good clients who were clearly eager to use their service. read more

UNETHICAL WITH NO INTEGRITY I met Scott at the property. I loved the apartment! I wanted it but wasn't going to be moving until the following month. They were very gracious and said even though I wasn't moving until the following month, the owner would make an exception. I went in on a Saturday to apply for the apartment. They told me they would put the application in on Monday. Later on Saturday I got a call saying I was approved for the apartment. I was confused. Why would they put the application in on Saturday and tell me they were putting it on Monday?? Whatever. Not a big deal. I got a follow up email from Beth saying that I'd been approved for the apartment. In that email, she put in writing that they would not deposit my first months rent until she spoke with me. The next day I got a call from Tim that Beth was sick and that I should talk to her the next day. No problem. I went to the grocery store after I got his call, wasn't able to use my debit card. I checked my bank...they had deposited the check! Even though Beth put in writing they would not deposit the check until she spoke to me, they deposited it anyway. I called Beth and told her they'd deposited the check without speaking to me. Long story short, she began yelling at me when I questioned her about what their policy was for depositing first months rent (mind you, not a deposit, but first months rent). First she said that it was a mistake. Then she changed her story and said that this is how they always do things. Who is to know which is true? Because they deposited my check without my consent, several other checks I'd written bounced and my bank charged me $100. They said they would refund me for their bounced check, but not the other fees I incurred as a result of their mistake. I spoke with Beth again because I had questions about the property before I agreed to the lease. She still was short with me and began yelling. I finally said to her to please stop yelling at me. Her response was that it was because she was sick. I'm still not understanding how her being sick was my problem. I immediately called Tim because I was no longer going to be yelled at by this woman when I was out $100 because they don't know how to honor their word when it comes to checks. I told him that I still was interested in the apartment, but wanted to make it clear that my trust with his company had been breeched. Not only had my trust been breeched, but Beth's customer service was so atrocious, I was questioning whether I wanted to do business with them at all because their integrity and their ethics were now in question. He was extremely apologetic and apologized for Beth's poor treatment of me. But the damage had been done. I decided not to take the apartment. They are refunding my check, but not the other $70 I am still out as a result of their lack of integrity. Tim explained that he could not refund me all the bounced check fees because I decided not to take the apartment and they needed to make some money off the deal. I made it clear to him that it was his fault in the first place for depositing my check unauthorized, that I am out $70 because of their negligence. He still refused to refund my money. What's funny is that they must be so hard up that they have to fight over that $70. Perhaps if they had higher work ethics and integrity, $70 wouldn't matter so much because people would be breaking down the doors to give them business. When you do right by people the universe rewards you. When you lie and distort and change your word based on what's convenient for you, the universe makes stuff hard. Based on my experience with this company, I would not recommend them. They are slick, phony, and only out to get money. Their customer service is poor, and their ethics are questionable. Do not give them your money, and if you choose to deal with them, do not believe anything that comes out of their mouths, because they will change their tune when it is to their benefit. NO INTEGRITY. THEY ARE NOT THEIR WORD. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Use at your own risk. read more

I stumbled into business with Chicago Apartments and Condos, and am so grateful for the experience! From seeing a perfect apartment with Allison (and immediately filling out a rental application), to getting the paperwork finalized *very quickly* with Beth, they were professional, effective, and a pleasure to work with. I got the impression that they were similarly wonderful with our landlord, who was a little wary of renting to "young people". They clearly took care of all his concerns, and even called him when I stopped by the office to drop off checks just to keep him appraised. IF YOU'RE NEW TO CHICAGO DON'T USE THIS BUSINESS TO FIND AN APARTMENT. THIS PLACE IS BULLSHIT AND WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU NOT KNOWING CHICAGO!!! This is a scam. I went in there and asked for a one bedroom apartment and told them that my cap rent was $800. I was told that they don't have ANY one bedroom apartments for that price. In fact, there aren't ANY apartments at that price in the city. When I pointed out that the only reason I went into their office is because they have several one bedroom apartments listed for $700 and $750 on Craigslist, the guy called me a liar and started to yell at me. This is one of those companies that uses bate-and-switch tactics to bring in people who are new to Chicago and don't know any better. I'm actually from the city and I DO know how much apartments go for and all about the different neighborhoods. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. I have yet to find an honest apartment broker in Chicago. If you're going to find an apartment on CL, look for one that ISN'T a freelance apartment agent. I've had some bad experiences, but I've never been called a liar and yelled at for pointing out that they advertise one thing, then tell you it doesn't exist. read more

My husband and I moved from the suburbs to Grand Plaza a couple of months ago. We are thoroughly enjoying our residence at Grand Plaza. Our spacious apartment was freshly painted/carpeted prior to our move in and thoroughly cleaned. The Staff at Grand Plaza is great. They are very friendly and are always very quick to respond to a question or maintenance request. The maintenance staff is also so professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Grand Plaza is like an all-inclusive resort. The River North location is ideal with many restaurants/shops in the neighborhood. The Jewel grocery store (great produce/meat department) and Bed Bath & Beyond are conveniently located on the first floor of the building. We are enjoying the many amenities of the complex - fitness center, basketball court, outdoor running track/pool/putting greens/grill areas as well as the business center, library, and media room. There is a lovely atrium lounge area where weekly gatherings with local eateries are held. We find residents here to be very friendly as well. read more

A friend in Chicago referred me to an apartment locator service. I sent my daughter, whio is starting school in Chicago, to Chicago Apartments & Condos to look for a studio in Chicago. We were not aware nor was my contact in the city that the company had moved to a new location, which we ultimately found. My daughter went into an office in the Lakeview neighborhood on Broadway not realizing that this was not the company we hade been referred to, since the new company had a very similar name. My friend gave me the name of a gentleman named Tim. My daughter was told that Time was no longer with the company so she went out with another agent and did not think much of it. She did not end up renting that day and continued her search. In doing so, when we found out that Chicago Apartments & Condos had moved, saw an ad for a studio on Craigslist with their name and Tim was still with the company, actually the owner. My daughter Megan found a great place along the lake. The reason I chose to put something on here is because I own my own company as well and know how positive reviews help. However, I am also writing this because it seems there is a company out there misrepresenting themselves. Businesses with similar sounding names can be confusing, but for people to be deliberately misleading is poor business and bad ethics. I appreciate the service that my daughter received and we are happy that things worked out. But, people should be aware of false, misleading and deceptive practices that some business might employ to exploit the reputation of one business in order to benefit themselves. read more

This is more of a review for landlords. My place is being rented and some of their agents are not very pleasant. Some are. But I have had experiences where they are leaving me messages saying "this is just a courtesy call. I am showing your apartment today." Excuse me? How is that courteous? When I called the girl back (she said to call if I had a problem) to let her know that I need notice - and a time - and some consideration since I LIVE here. She simply said "oh, I'm not showing it anyway". She then either hung up on me or we got disconnected. Clearly a professional. It is a lease violation to not give 24 hours notice. Her attitude is terrible and as a representative of your company you might want to rethink who is answering your phones. Did I take her away from her online shopping spree and/or personal call? I'm so sorry. Don't talk to potential clients like they are idiots. Asking me repeatedly "what are you looking for" with 10lbs of attitude and without specifying what you actually are trying to inquire is not the right way to conduct business. After I said, "an apartment", you could have asked me to specify by saying "what type of apartment?", yet you continued to ask in your shitty tone, "what are you looking for" like I was sitting here reading your mind. When starting my search I used a lot of different agencies. I found a winner with Chicago Apartments and Condos. Brian Davis, has been nothing been GREAT. He was very personable, he really wanted to know what I was looking for and didn't settle for anything less than what I asked. He gave his true opinions and really touched base with me and kept in the loop the entire time. He was very accessible, understanding and most importantly nice when dealing with both my requirements and my schedule. He made finding an apartment easy and exciting. I was going to be moving into the city from Ohio for a new job opportunity and originally had a short term agreement with someone in order to give me time to find a place that would work for me. That fell through and I was recommended to contact Beth by my future boss. I left her a message and she called me back within a few minutes to get important information (price range, area of the city that I was looking in, if I had pets, etc) in order to find some options. Within a few days, I came out and she showed me several places that would fit my needs. I liked a couple in particular. My first choice turned out to be taken. My second choice was actually in the same building. They were able to get me a $25 per month discount on my second choice and I was able to m since the first one was taken.
