I forget how I got connected to Byron Penaherrera, but when I spoke with him and he found out I had broader interests than whatever the original thing was he asked about what I was looking for. He found lots of listings, which was nice because I needed a place on short notice. I'd get an email of options from his son, text the ones I liked, and go from there. He'd usually only know the basics at first but was quick to find answers for questions. I was burnt out at looking and he was a big help, even offered advice on a property I'd seen without him. While I ended up going with one of the properties I'd arranged on my own, I still really appreciated the time and effort he put into helping me. Ursala was AMAZING - I won't work with anyone else. I had some credit issues in the past, but she showed us a great apartment in my price range, but the landlord (initially) declined my application. I asked Ursala if I could appeal directly to the landlord to explain - she went and interceded on my behalf. Crystal helped me with absolutely nothing. I found the apartment listing on apartments.com. I sent a message, to which I believe I got an automated email response. When I called, she picked up, and I explained to her the impact that covid-19 had on me financially, but that I was getting back on track. She said she would forward me the link to submit an application, but I never received it. I called and left her a message and no response. It wasn't until I left a message on apartments.com, that she got back to me. I followed the link to submit my application on Landstar's application site. It locked me out twice, claiming my SSN and DOB didn't match. Crystal had no idea how to help me, so she gave me Kevin's email. When I asked her if I should submit my application through apartments.com, she said no. Kevin got back to me two days later and told me my application was good to go and that he forwarded my application to Crystal. Later that day I text her to check the status, since she didn't get back to me. She said she would take a look at it in a few minutes. They were expanding her office, and she had to take a second shower because she was covered in construction dust. I waited two days, and text her again. She said she was traveling and that the owner was getting back to her that day. I paid $60 to submit a single application (through Landstar ONLY), only to get denied and have to start a whole application process again. Apartments.com has an offer where you can apply to 10 listings for 24.99, which includes secure credit and background reports by Transunion, without affecting your credit score. I could have saved myself time and money. I see all the great reviews for Landstar, and I wish I would've worked with another agent. Crystal offered me no alternatives. read more

I cannot recommend working with Alonzo Ramos. He was very unprofessional. I wanted to see a unit and he scheduled the viewing for 1pm. Then he changed the time to 1:15. I had to take the bus and left at 12pm. I didn't see any messages on my computer just before I left. Apparently he sent another message saying he needed to move the time earlier to 12:30!!! There was no way I could have arrived on the bus earlier. I arrived at the building and waited until 1:45. At that point, I looked on Marketplace and saw his message. He offered no apology. Instead he said he could reschedule for 10:30am on Easter morning as though I have to accommodate HIS schedule. He never asked if I was free at that time. But I don't count, you see. I exist so he can earn a commission. No customer service. Please steer clear of this guy if you want a decent rental experience. He is in the wrong business. read more

Can't recommend. Byron Penaherrera and team are not horrible, but they just don't want to do the work. My only main requirement was that I needed on-property parking with access to electricity. He did provide some excellent side ideas, but none of them worked out. They did at least force me to search near those spots, but then he didn't have properties near those spots even if I would have found one. I basically said yes any place that has electricity should have power, can you just inquire and see how far the power is from the parking spot. I even sent the TWO DOZEN MLS #'s and they didn't check any. Basically this would require them to do more than cut/paste, and actually email/call the properties to see if I can use the spot. Ended up finding a place on CL and I literally email then call and it got confirmed that there was parking near my space. My rent was less than what they were showing. Agencies like this, and property owners make it really hard to help the environment, I don't even drive a full electric car, it takes gasoline too. read more

As you might read on in the earlier reviews, a common theme is misunderstanding (possibly malignantly) information provided by the tenet, client, whatever. They misconstrue details or fail to understand basic courtesy as far as credit checks and whatnot. Landstar Realty stole money from me, at the end of the day. They are thieves that do not care if you fit the bill for the apartment, condo, house. Whatever. They are there for their own benefit, not yours. I had terrible experience with this company. They don't know their work, and has really poor customer service...Me and my husband wanted to rent an apartment and we told them about our credit score when we first talked to the seller guy. He said its okay. Right after we applied to the application (it was 60$ per person) he said its declined because our credit score is so low. We were so frustrated and talked to their boss, she said if you want this apartment you need to pay one of your credit cards fully to make your credit score higher... which means they already wanted higher credit score for that apartment. I can understand if we didn't tell anything about our credit score but we told them at the beginning... And its their duty to tell all important information and possibilities to happen... We spent so much time with them! After that they didn't apologize and acted like it's your fault because you didn't paid your credit cards fully! We would never apply if we knew they wanted higher score!!!! After all the thing happened they said they have another apartment that fits to our credit score. We agreed to see the apartment because we thought they wanted to help and fix all the issues. But when we came to see the apartment, Max (seller guy) was so rude he didn't even looked to us. Even it was his fault that we spent our money for nothing! He never escort us to the apartment, he didn't even tell us "this way" he just goes away and we were just standing there don't know where to go.... he acted like we begged him to work with us! When we told him you need to tell every information it's your responsibility, he was like "okay". We were ready to pay again and trusting them again!
