Friendly, helpful folks. I really liked it. I brought my niece and nephew here while I was visiting and we had a great time. They were very friendly and relaxed. They know what they are doing and what's more is they help you when you need it. We reserved our time, rented our gear and we were good to go for the hour. Took a lesson here today with Jess. She explained everything clearly, emphasizing safety and also making great suggestions that helped me significantly improve my shooting in only an hour. Additionally, she made the experience fun. I only did the hour-long introductory class but plan to come back to take the 6-week class. Very knowledgeable staff and good indoor range that provides a lot of flexibility in distance shooting from 10 yards to at least 50. They have a nice selection of equipment to rent and their hourly rates for range access is reasonable. read more

The owner is nice and clearly knowledgeable, but tends to ramble -- too much information can be just as detrimental to the communication process as too little. Most of the people who work here are patient and nice. The lady with the glasses & dark curly hair on the other hand probably shouldn't be in a customer-facing position because she just doesn't have the temperament for it. I live a lot closer to Fox Valley Archery but I've resisted going there after hearing some sketchy things about the owner from former customers. I may take my chances there nonetheless because the one employee at Chicago Archery is just that unpleasant to deal with. read more

Awesome place! Jess and everyone go above and beyond and make sure that you get the most out of your lesson! Bob goes the extra mile to make sure your bow is setup perfectly for you. I love talking to other people at the shop who are either getting into archery, or are experienced, and one of the most common responses I get to when I ask "What brings you to Chicago Archery?", is "My previous bow shop setup my bow completely wrong". My boyfriend and I got a private lesson. It was our first time trying out archery, and it was so much fun! For couples out there - this is a great date idea. I wish I remembered our instructors name, but she was fun and talked us through everything. By the end of the hour, we had a solid grip on the basics. We'll definitely be coming back for practice. The location is small. I'm not sure what other locations are like, but it felt small to me. We went on a Saturday afternoon and only 3 other people were there, so it didn't feel crowded. read more

This place is great! A couple friends and I started with their beginner class and were hooked. We loved it so much that we bought our own equipment from them, and plan to continue with archery indefinitely. Not only are they extremely qualified experts in archery and equipment, but they are also helpful, patient, and welcoming to all. As a woman, I really appreciate that most of the instructors are women, and I have enjoyed their classes as well as private lessons with Jessica (who is just the best, and so skilled and helpful). I would recommend Chicago Archery to anyone, beginner to expert. I got into archery about a month ago and was looking for a range that I could regularly visit. Found Chicago Archery thru Yelp and was very pleased with the service and knowledge provided. I visited them both yesterday and today and the shop owner made it a point to stop and talk to me each day- wanting to know about me and what brought me to his shop. He went as far as offering tips on holding the bow and following thru with my shots -which means a lot to me as I am so new to the sport (and feeling intimidated). His daughter was conducting a private lesson in the lane next to me and she even gave me tips and advice. All-in-all, I had a great weekend here and ended up purchasing a five-hour range punch card. I am a disabled mature man in a wheelchair. Two other (unnamed) archery ranges in the Chicago area either refused to train me for recreational archery or were just ignorant when I patronized (or tried to). When I called, Jessica said, "Sure, I'll work with you." She boned up on what it takes for wheelchair archery and helped me do the best I can. When I bought equipment, she steered me to durable, affordable equipment and didn't force unnecessary accessories on me. When I shoot at the range she still acts as a coach with gentle reminders. This is a family business that feels like family, run by Jess and her dad Bob. Although the range, store and shop are accessible, the washroom is not accessible for larger wheelchairs, but this is a new location. A great place! read more

Nothing says love like shooting your significant other with foam tipped arrows for Valentine's Day LOL! Recently booked an archery tag outing for a group of 11 (5 couples and a friend--which sounds like it could be a great made for tv movie on lifetime---or skinimax--depending on what you're into) to play for Valentines weekend. The facility provided all the equipment, bow, arrows, protected face gear (which is great--cause not trying to walk out with a janky face). If you want they also have a party room you can take advantage of to eat/drink etc. We didn't need it during our visit, but good to know. We were able to hook up one of our phones to play whatever music we wanted----something about DMX that makes you just ever so slightly more competitive... We played a bunch of mini games and switched up teams throughout--everyone had a blast---but note for next time-----I'm wearing long sleeves...my bruise on my arm although looks very angry----is a terrible way to get rumors started! We actually loved this range. However the owner demanded my son have additional lessons that they can not provide as they book fast and deemed him unsafe. At the same time the man banned me for arguing with him that my son is only 6 and learning his best with only our instruction which my husband immediately stopped shooting to help him with as they were next to each other. I told the owner I will be reviewing and informing friends that it's not actually a child friendly range that's when he said I was banned. The man also proceeded to tell me I need lessons and can't shoot. I will let my groupings speak for themselves. The owner of this range took something I love and turned it to something I don't feel I can do confidently. His words were harsh and out of my whole family he banned me only the only woman. Which means I will not get to see my baby shoot if he keeps going here unless I watch from outside. I also want to mention the man yelled at us our first time cause my husband missed the target and hit the wall, I was called unsafe and I've not missed. I have never been to a range where people get yelled at for missing the target. Even tho I spent hundreds on a new 5pin sight from them it's doubtful I will ever shoot again after having every ounce of confidence I had torn down by what was supposed to be a professional but didn't act as one. The owner seems to also have an issue with women as he only argued with and banned the only female in our family, me all while yelling at me in front of my child. I should also mention how uncomfortable I was when the owner said he only came in cause we aren't safe and could only bring up my husbands wall mishap and my 6 year olds arrows falling out of the target cause he has no power in his shot yet. So it's with a broken heart and shattered confidence I write this. read more

A couple friends and I wanted to do something different for a fun night out. We came across Chicago Archery and thought we'd try it. None of us had ever held a bow, but we were given great instruction and patience from Jessica. We had so much fun and even felt accomplished by the end. The owner, Bob even came out to give us a few pointers. It was cool that he would take time with us beginners. After our lesson, a kids party was starting. They were playing Archery tag with big "marshmallow" arrows. They looked like they were having a blast. We are looking forward to going again sometime soon. read more

With the reviews, I had very high hopes for this activity as I have not done it before. I have called before if there is a lesson provided during 'open range hours' which they have confirmed. Upon arrival after paying for our session, they assume that we have prior experience. My significant other owns a crossbow so he has at least some knowledge about handling the equipment. They offered a lesson for $10 or a quick introduction for $5. We just took the quick introduction option. Honestly, this quick introduction was not worth the $5. All the instructor did was tell us how to stand, where to put the arrow, and pulling back on the bow. All within 2 minutes and just left us be. If I knew, I would of just Youtube it. My significant other knew the basic he was explaining. As he thought there was much more complicated instructions which wasn't the case. We were shooting the arrows which was exciting and fun. We had a great kick out of it. We ended up having no instruction for the good hour. We even had to put up our own targets which only happened because everyone else seems to put theirs up. The customer service 0/5 Experience 2/5 Although the experience was fun, the unfortnate unwelcoming feeling made it less enjoyable than it should of been. I'm definitely going to try another Archery place in the city instead. read more

I started taking classes with friends over the summer as something fun to do. Six months later we're hooked! Chicago Archery is a fantastic place. The staff are awesome and so supportive. They give great advice and Jessica is especially incredible at giving specific feedback that helps you immediately improve. I purchased equipment from Chicago Archery in September and have been really happy with everything. The group classes are really fun and it's usually a mix of kids and adults, so all ages can feel welcome. The private lessons are also extremely helpful. I recently purchased a high end target bow from Bob and his shop. I have nothing but good things to say about the entire experience. Bob helped me pick out all the best possible accessories and installed and tuned each component perfectly. The only thing I've adjusted is the sight since he set it up for me. I cannot recommend Chicago Archery enough to anyone from experienced shooters to someone who wants to try a bow for the first time. Bob has a great crew including Jessica who is an unbelievable shooter herself and great at teach what she knows to people all ages. The entire crew is very personable and friendly. Great range time prices. If you feel like Archery might be for you, I've been to all the shops in the surrounding area and I won't be going anywhere else any time soon. This place is awesome!! My 11 year old son has been shooting for only a few weeks here at CA. He came in with a real drive to learn and do well, and was encouraged from the first draw. From the moment we stepped in they treated him with respect - and he is young and small for his age. He has been inspired and encouraged by everyone he has met at Chicago Archery, and for that we are so happy. Everyone that has taught him privately have been great, and we really enjoy seeing Jessica each and every time we go. This was such an adrenaline filled fun event. I came here for a birthday party and was running late. Someone gave me a three minute rundown of what to do in the hallway, and then sent me inside a game immediately. Even though I missed the full experience, I still had fun. Despite getting shot in the chest. Since I am not very competitive, coordinated, or skilled, I would've liked a more low-key archery carnival style game. You know, like a row of people all trying to knock over their targets the fastest... something like that. The dodgeball/paintball play was too much for me, but it was definitely a workout. I recommend that ladies and gentlemen wear guards over their sensitive bits, and also wearing an arm guard so you don't get a gnarly bruise from incorrectly snapping the bowstring. The weather was hellish that night, but this was so fun and worth the drive out to the suburbs. read more

Ordered a new bow and arrows through Chicago Archery and could not be more pleased with the service I received. Jessica made the process easy and kept me informed as to when it would arrive. I am very particular on how my bows are setup and Bob went out of his way to make sure it was perfectly tuned for me. Bob made sure I was happy and that my site was adjusted properly. He even let me try several stabilizers so I could find what works best for me. There was no pressure to buy anything and I could shoot as long as I wanted. This place is great! We just had an archery tag event there last night and it was a blast. There was about 9 of us, but 12-15 is more ideal. We started off easy and progressed the games from there to make them more challenging as we got better. They had music which made the games really fun too. I'm new to archery, I knew I wanted a 2020 Matthew's vxr for my first bow. Right of the bat, the owner Bob was awesome! Super cool guy! All the staff was amazing!! They were super welcoming, and made me feel at home! They helped me customize my bow the way I wanted and even gave me an unbeatable price and discounts. I've done a lot of research price wise, and you just can't beat these people's price! When it comes to archery, these people actually know what they are doing and what they are talking about! Jessica helped me shoot for the first time and she was super patient and kind with me even though i sucked at first! Jessica had so much knowledge, she knew exactly how to adjust my bow so that I was closer to the center every time. And at the end of her coaching I was 10x more confident with a bow! Moral of the story, if your getting into archery or need a reliable team to help you with your archery needs, there's no other place to go, beside Chicago Archery! They actually give you good advice and point you in the right direction so that you can be the best archer that you can be.
