That's one thing I can say about the Chicago fire crowd it's very family oriented everybody was in a really good mood. I was with a big group here and we had majority of the seats. But all the other guests around us were very polite when it came to organizing who sitting where. We ordered margaritas. They tasted like the store-bought mixed margaritas I wouldn't suggest ordering that. You're better off just getting a beer.

Known as the "Friendly Confines", this is a MUST-VISIT spot, to catch a ball game, watch some great baseball, sip on a crisp/cold beer, and to munch on some classic stadium snacks. While yes, the drinks and food are quite pricey, that seems to be the way of baseball stadiums these days. It's worth every penny, in my opinion, to witness a game here. The beautiful ivy-covered outfield walls, the Marquee sign outside of the ballpark that one MUST take a photo with every game, the hand-operated scoreboard, the electrifying atmosphere, the sensation of having a Chicago dog or Cubs-hat-nachos in a beautifully historic ballpark, and getting to experience the "Go Cubs Go!" song after the Cubs win?! Welcome to the world of the ECHL where anything is possible. The Sears Centre is home to a new hockey club (Chicago Express) where if you want to hear the slashing sounds on the ice or the roaring whistle of a train as a goal is scored; you are more than welcome. Chicago has been lucky enough to be granted with three levels of professional hockey and this is definitely no exception. An Affiliate of the NHL's Blue Jackets, the Express skate with determination and skill that make it perfect to watch while they are growing as professional players. The venue itself isn't overly large and offers pretty much a decent seat from both sides of the rink. The Sears Centre suits the bill for holding the sounds of the ice and the crowd without making you think there could be a concert the next night. Because the Express club is still so fresh and so clean, seats are readily available for every game. We're talking, if you wanted to be bangin' on the glass come this Saturday (or when the next home game is) you'll probably find out that your luck--is in tact. For this particular outing, I ended up sitting rows behind the benches for which I have to admit...I am skeptical and should have opted for the other side but couldn't for the life of me get the ticket site figured out. Ten rows up from the ice is still a pretty sweet view--even if you're somewhat behind the benches. The crowd has taken the Express to heart already which is very warming, because they are a brand new franchise. Loud cat calls, whistles and screams to skate to the center is something that will be of a common fixture for the night. Tickets are definitely affordable. To sit in the lower 100 level tickets start as low as $17, and sitting behind the glass if that is your fancy is only $25. For anyone in need of getting a hockey fix this is a great option to choose from. Parking itself is standard for the Centre, look to spend about $10 to park easily across the way from the arena entrance.

We were told a shuttle bus would take us to the stadium from the Central Station Purple Line. Even after being picked up and dropped off, it was a 5-8 minute walk to the stadium. There was signage to show us where to go, otherwise we just followed people around us. The directions are to get off at Noyes and walk 20 minutes. I wonder if shuttles will be available during the regular season. Of course the residential/campus areas were swamped with cars so walking is probably better. We got through security no problem, no hassles, but they should have more gates and detectors if they are going to have games here! There were food trucks and booths with alcohol, merch tents, Porto Potties (heck no!) and tents selling food that was of course overpriced. It was a very nice day, cloudy with sun and dry; I can IMAGINE what it's like when it rains! NO indoor spaces to buy food, except a couple of huge tents? I was expecting a Soldier Field/Wrigley field structure where one can move to seats and stay inside but really stacked bleachers. The food trucks were ok but food was not super hot. The field had timers and score boards but not facing south, where we sat. We had to crane to see the score. There should be scoreboards on all sides. We found some indoor restrooms at half time thank goodness, and they were clean. Instead of going back to the seats we walked around and bought more concessions in the patio area. A medical company was giving away prizes, and we were able to see the scores on a big tv (Stars won!) plus there was a play area for kids. The lake view was very nice, I'm glad the Stars are pushing the lakefront attribute, but I can't say I would look forward to coming here regularly, esp as the weather becomes very hot or very cold, as there is no protection from the elements.

My ticket was roughly $220 (with taxes) for the Cubs vs Twins game. If you have never been to a Wrigley Rooftops... I most definitely recommend giving it a try! Worth it maybe one.
