Great divey spot to have fun and not take self too seriously. Pinball runs $1 for 3 balls. Machines accept quarters or singles. They also have a change machine that takes singles or fives. Some of the machines are old and have no fancy sounds or screens. Some are more interactive. They offer a large selection of canned beverages as well as non alcoholic options. For drinks they accept cash or card. Located on busy Irving Park you can either take the bus and be dropped off right in front or there is paid street parking on either side of Irving Park. I didn't have high expectations coming to Chicago for a billiards and pinball café. However, it turned out fun. Theres a small bar in the corner, several pool tables in the main area, and a section for private groups or a little more quiet for people interested in pinball. The staff were friendly, and the place was clean. Everyone was well behaved. read more

If you want to go play a little pool and have a few "pops," this place is OK. If you are "half-way" serious, easily distracted or don't want to wait for someone to finish their pinball turn so you can shoot, you might be better off elsewhere. read more

Me and my girlfriend have came here a few times throughout the past year. We brought her 14 year old brother a few times without an ID and they'd let us play without it since he doesn't have one yet. Today we decided to go and mentioned to the guy who's there on Sunday afternoons that he doesn't have an ID but me and my girlfriend are over 21 so we thought we'd be OK. He then gives the 14 year old kid attitude saying come on man, where's your ID or wallet (he didn't bring his wallet). He snaps his finger at him and tells him to just give him his phone. At that point, his attitude towards us was pretty obnoxious so we left. I understand that you need something for collateral but why do you need a kids ID or any collateral for that matter when you already have 2 adult's state IDs? If anything happens, the adults will pay for it, not the kid. They lost our business. Think twice before coming here. read more

Great place to play pool at a low cost. Pricing is per person per hour. Music is audible but not loud (typical bar stuff). It's BYOB which is weird, but makes for an affordable time for people not looking to spend a $6 per drink. Food here is alright to snack on. Card minimum is $10 so bring cash if you plan on buying food or only playing for an hour or two. read more

I've been to many pool halls and I gotta say, this place is by far my favorite. Any day of the week it is open until 2 a.m. couldn't bring in a bottle but I like IPA more anyways. Staff is great, killer cheese fries and wings. Fair pricing for my group, and other players are respectful. I havnt had any issues or confrontations with other players unlike other places. Rented the party room and it was well worth it. Always a fun spot to drink and shoot pool with good ppl. Will recommend it to everyone. read more

This place is the closest pool hall to my house. I used to frequent it from time to time, but I haven't been going there as much. I bring my own cue stick, but the house cues are fairly good, as are the tables, and there are at least 14 or 15 of them. They also have a second floor that you can apparently rent out, but I've never seen anyone up there. The jukebox that they have is great. The patrons are really easy going, and on occasion offer to shoot a game or two. From time to time, you get an annoying high schooler or two, but most people keep to themselves. The staff's friendly, and they usually have whatever is on ESPN on the TVs at all times. The food's decent. What I like most about this place are their rates. From what I can remember it's about $7 or so for 3 or 4 hours at most on the weekdays. And I shoot a LOT of pool. With that being said, I'm going to plan on heading here soon. read more

This place is pretty much my preferred pool hall. Despite some of the younger, looking-for-a-fight crowd, most of the people that drop in are just looking for a low key night of pool. The cues and tables are all in pretty good condition, and they have enough tables to keep the wait to play at a minimum. The TVs are usually showing whatever sports are on, and there's an internet jukebox if you feel like shooting to some tunes. The rates are hourly, and pretty reasonable. I can't remember which night if their lady's night, I think either Tuesday or Wednesday, but anyway, on that night ladies play free. Good deal. They do offer some bar type food behind the counter, most of which isn't bad, and very affordable. They also are BYOB, and don't charge. There's a liquor store right across the street. Went here for the first time last night to shoot some pool. They charge by the hour per person which I've never seen before, I'm used to being charged by the hour for the table, but the BYOB makes up for this. A lot of tables, good music on the jute box, and sports on the tvs. Good spot to shoot pool and have some beers with the boys on a weekend or a date on Tuesdays since ladies shoot free. Liquor store is closing across the street so make sure to pick up alcohol before you come here or go down Irving park to the west for a polish convenience store that sells beer. I love coming here to play pool . I'm always scared of tables being unavailable. It's a chill vibe , BYOB decent music (played by pay box ). I've never had problems like some reviews stated . I've only seen the "drink table " dirty once I've come in . It happens. The workers aren't overly friendly like other annoying places. read more

This place was pretty cool. Went on a random night sometime in the middle of the week. Other players seemed friendly enough. Good neighborhood vibe and easy parking. Byob. They have two rooms which makes the place feel more closed off. They don't have much for seating, other than two high chairs, which didn't make it the most comfy. I also didn't like that half the tables in the main room easily get disrupted by newcomers walking in. the setup and flow of the space is just not ideal---- registers are at the back of this double store-front spot. My group and I come every year and we run out the private room and host a pool outing. The prices are great the location is great the staff here are always Pleasant and welcoming and help make your evening very enjoyable. The wings the fried mushrooms and mozzarella sticks are very good here we never go hungry. read more

Since I was knowledgable about those tables, otherwise how could I have known to ask about them, it was still curious as to why we weren't allowed to play up there? I was told that I would have to wait for the place to be full. This doesn't seem like a good reasoning really. What difference would that make? Probably easier to supervise if everyone is downstairs, but even harder to supervise the upstairs if the downstairs is all full! Anyway, if I knew about them, then I probably would not want to go up there just to trash the place or shoot up or whatever. Good place to hang with friends. The cue sticks where ok but what more to say with public cues. Crowd was nice BYOB so we all were there for entertainment. Didn't try the food but plan to NEXT time hopefully with a few more friends. read more

If I could live here, I would! My boyfriend and I are really into billiards and were supposed to go to Nick's. But because they were under construction, we looked elsewhere. So when we found this place, we were greeted and everyone was very friendly. They charge $5 an hour I believe. Not too expensive. But parking is pretty easy, getting a table was pretty easy... The food isnt five star but you don't go to eat. Lol. I would recomend this place to people who shoot. My boyfriend and I are always here when he's home from school. It's very laid back. I love it. DO NOT GO here if your not white. The last guy that served us at the counter was a complete moron and totally rude. From the moment we walked in he was an asshole with a mission to not serve us. Never have I been that disappointed or upset with someone's service. Totally unprofessional and disrespectful. Don't waste your money here there are many other places much better than this. I have played at this pool hall several times over the last few years witha group of 4-5 people. I wouldn't consider myself a regular but this is the place I normally come to play pool. Up until 3 weeks ago my experience at the pool hall was fine. However, I feel compelled to write this review based off my previous experience. The people I was with tried to order food and the manager at the desk (some heavy set guy) said that he couldn't sell us nachos or fries. The last time we were here we were able to order them. So, we decided to order pizza from the Giordano's next door. When the pizza was ready we set it on the wooden against the wall and the manager came by and said no outside food is allowed in the pool hall and that signs are posted which state this. After being told this my friends and I discussed what we should do since we just spent $35 on food and were told we were not allowed to bring outside food into the pool hall. The first thing we did was check every sign outside the pool hall and inside and NOT ONE SIGN mentioned this. The only restriction that was posted was that no food or drinks were allowed on the pool tables. THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM NOT ALLOWING OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS INTO THE POOL HALL! I ended up leaving the pool hall, but without incident. When I tried to pay for my portion of the tab the pool hall manager refused to accept my money until everyone who played pool at the table also paid their tab as well. I didn't argue with the pool hall manager or anything like that either. Chicago Billiards Cafe, feel free to check your video as well. Due to the terrible experience I had with this pool hall manager I will NO LONGER PLAY AT CHICAGO BILLIARDS CAFE. If I had to recommend another pool hall I would recommend going to Chris's Billiards at 4637 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60630. Last night we went there and service was very rude from the moment we walked in. From the way the worker on duty spoke with us, to his refusal to accommodate our party of 10 people, even with two tables available. And for a party our size who would have easily stayed 2-3 hours they lost out on an easy $200-300. Any intelligent person who runs a business would know you should always be out to convenience your customers not inconvenience them. You lose out on good business, and for a pool hall that is mainly packed only on the weekends and makes the bulk of it's money then, it is not a smart move to turn away a group of customers. The owner should fire that worker for very poor employee etiquette and managing skills. We've brought large groups on a number of occasions and other workers there have been smart enough to accommodated us, but because of the ignorance of that one employee we will not be returning. Never leave a bad taste of customer service in a Customer's mouth. And as I finish this review, I quote a customer playing at a table nearby, staring at us and shaking his head as we were leaving....."All that money just walking out the door." read more
