Her husband's videography work was equally amazing and I was surprised about what he was able to capture considering, again, we were only there for maybe 30 minutes. They were an amazing team to calm nerves and make sure what we spoke about during the planning process came to life. I appreciated the fact they have a streamlined planning process - a document will be shared with you months out from the wedding that you fill it out as an overview of what you want and it helped ensure nothing was forgotten or misunderstood. There were little moments during the wedding day I was so grateful for them (e.g. definitely left without my bouquet and John suggested I might want it :)) where they do a little extra or coaching to keep things moving. We joked that Erika was our MVP - every time we stopped for photos she had some new amazing angle she planned to get by scaling a wall, climbing a tree, etc.! I just visited this business as part of the International Photobooth Convention 2014, and it was…read morefabulous! A & A is in the business of restoring vintage photobooths, and this convention was basically a big love letter to everyone who loves this art form as much as they do! For $18 you could spend a few hours taking as many pics as you wanted in the assorted booths, mostly chemical (two digital). For context, one strip usually costs about $3 or 4 if you can find one of these machines in a bar, arcade or funky shop these days. It was great to talk shop with the people who know this stuff, and I even got to peek at the innards of one of the color machines when one of the techie guys popped it open to check on something: you could see all the vats of colored inks and bleach that the strip gets dipped into. Neat! A & A not only restores photobooths, they also rent them, and they do revenue sharing rentals too if you want one at your business (hint, hint, Chicago!) They also had a cool array of vintage photo paraphernalia (cameras etc.) in addition to the booths. For their expertise in keeping this nostalgic technology alive, A & A deserves an A+!

You notice that every wedding looks either like: an Absolut ad with slightly not attractive enough people for a magazine ad, or an American Apparel ad with way overdressed people. We met with a few, who were way more expensive than we were hoping, and figured we'd have to go with someone we weren't completely happy with, just because we couldn't find someone we really liked. Enter: Becca Heuer. We were referred by a friend of a friend, who heard of our photographer troubles. So, we met with Becca, expecting another presentation that had been given a thousand times before. But, instead, she didn't try to sell us on how she knows secret spots of beauty or how many wedding she does a year. Instead, she let her work speak for her. Before the wedding, we felt she did a great job keeping up communication without being overbearing. She even agreed to go to our venue, even though she had shot there before, to scope it out with us to get a feel for our style. Rather than forcing us to adopt her style, she worked with ours, which is quite a refreshing feeling. On the day of, she was amazing. She entered this machine-like art mode in which she was seemingly everywhere, getting shots of everything. But, she was never in the way. You'd turn your head and there she was, taking a picture before you realized she was setting up, and then gone; onto the next picture. Even only seeing the previews so far, I am amazed. Completely, totally, and unrepentingly amazed at her shots. It's kind of like the sound you hear when people are eating things that are amazingly delicious, except in pictures.
