This is THE BEST Chicago restaurant not in Chicago and honestly is better than quite a few in Chicago. The Italian beef was the best I've had EVER. The chi dog was fantastic only being beaten out by Jimmy's in Chicago. Their deepdish is handmade THE CORRECT WAY and their tavern style are hand tossed. The environment is that of a small diner or local hole in downtown Chicago. Very homey and classic. The service was fast, personable, and very kind. There really is no place to get good Chicago style pizza in Peoria, except here. Their Chicago style pizza is excellent! The sauce and crust is very good and it's stuffed in the real Chicago style not like the sad style other places use. This pizza is great and the proprietors remind you of real neighborhood residents. Lotsa good old fashioned atmosphere here and more like what I'm used to from a Chicago joint.....Small little joint with a bang of Chicago in it's DNA..... I had the Italian Beef with fries......aujus & sweet pepper's too.. Fresh bread & nicely made....but really small and shy with the meat's.....but a good decent flavor!! This is my second time to this fine establishment. The first time, we got the 12" deep dish Chicago style pizza, meat lovers. It was amazing. The service was great. The lady who helped us was so nice. It was an overall great experience. Then, today, we went back to try their gyros. Unfortunately, their shipment of sour cream didn't arrive so I switched it out for their cheese steak basket. Another amazing meal from this restaurant. The cheese steak sandwich was so tasty. Perfectly spiced. The roll was so soft and complimented the cheese steak it had in it. The fries were exceptional. You can tell that they were house cut. All of the food there is made fresh every day. I will never voluntarily eat at a chain restaurant again if Chicago Pizza & Grill is open. At the end, I asked her about doing a gyro sub sandwich with the rolls they use on the cheese steaks. She said she would do it for me if I asked next time. Now that is service. It shows that she cares about her customers. I really appreciate her for being so good to us. We will be back next week for the gyro sub she said she would put together for me. read more

We came here specifically for the Deep Dish Chicago style pizza. We ordered 2 pizzas for 5 adults, one pizza filled all of our bellies, and left us with an entire pizza to take home. When I say this was the best pizza I've ever had..... I mean it. We unanimously agreed that this was the best pizza we've ever had. Perfect. Worth the drive and the price!!!!! read more

This past Wednesday was national Deep Dish day and I realized how much I miss this place...I genuinely wish they had a branch in Los Angeles...their deep dish pizza is the best! Seriously, I had tried at least 9 different place in Chicago itself and non of them came close to this place! I'm definitely going to visit Peoria for this deep dish pizza!!! In the immortal words of famed Chicago Cubs baseball broadcaster, Harry Caray, "Holy Cow!!!" This aptly describes my reaction after tasting Chicago Pizza & Grill's Deep Dish Cheese Pizza! The owners were very friendly and pleasant. While paying, I told her this was my first time there. She asked how I had heard about them and so I told her I had found them on Yelp because I was looking for Chicago style deep dish pizza. She said she hoped I liked it and hoped I would come back. At that point the husband walked up with the pizza, opened the top of the box, and showed me the steaming hot pizza and said, "You're going to like this." The Verdict: The pizza crust was phenomenal and cooked just right.. and the cheese and sauce - just Wow! There must have been at least 2 inches of cheese amongst the delicious red sauce piled on top! It was amazing! (He was right, Ha!) Note: Their Deep Dish Cheese pizza only comes in one size, medium (12"). It takes about an hour to prepare. The cost was $36.37 (and then I added about a 20% tip). One might think not so cheap, but considering it fed 3 of us for 2 meals (and still had 2 slices left over), it comes out to be a pretty competitive and fair value. During this crazy time of Covid, they're only doing takeouts and deliveries. Also they're closed on Sundays. Friendly, efficient, and courteous service, amazing pizza, and reasonable, competitive pricing makes this an easy 5 Star rating. We ate at this little gem today for the first time and I'm glad we chose it for my plunge back into an omnivorous diet. After 8 months a vegetarian, I started to crave a good ol' fat American cheeseburger with fries. Chicago Pizza & Grill did not disappoint. That burger was excellent! My partner had the Gyro Burger that looked like a chef's kiss masterpiece on a bun and the chili cheese fries. Overall, the owners are very friendly, happy people and know how to cook well. Visiting Peoria from Seattle, I wanted some seriously tasty deep-dish pizza. Not many reviews but from what I read, sounded promising. We arrived about 8:10, 20 mins before closing time and I was worried it would be too close to closing time but the owners were very kind and happy to accomodate us. About 30 mind later, with a smile on his face, the owner had our pie boxed n ready. It was a medium and easily weighs 5 lbs, and I could tell from the aroma, THIS is a pie made with quality ingredients and love. We couldn't get home soon enough, those delicious smells of piping hot goodness filling our rental car. And as soon as we set the box down, I now know what pirates feel like opening the lid on a bountiful treasure chest. WOW, what a good lookin' pizza!! And then... the first bite. I am pretty sure my eyes rolled back in my head it was SO incredible. The dough is thick but light but sturdy, enough I could it it like a piece of thin crap from back home. It had a delicate sweetness and so smoothe, and loooooaded with flavor and not baked in an oil bath. Was it filling? I have a hearty appetite and could only get through one slice. It was kind of hidden, but I'm so glad we stopped in to try it. The owners were both super friendly and made sure everything was delicious. It was probably the best pizza we've had in a while! Plenty of toppings, they didn't skimp on any of them. The crust wasn't too thick or too thin, it was a Goldilock's "just right". For the last ten years I have been of the opinion that the Peoria metro area has no good pizza. The best I hoped for during this time was for a pizza that was at least edible. Those days are over. The deep dish pizza at Chicago Pizza & Grill is amazing. The ingredients are fresh, the dough is perfect, and the sauce is tangy and delicious. The range of toppings available is fairly diverse and includes the usual fair (pepperoni, sausage, etc.) and a few surprises (spinach, gyro meat). The service was excellent as well. The owners were polite and engaging, and the person who prepared my pizza came out and spoke with us while we were there. Placed a large carry out order tonight - a pizza, a couple of sandwiches, a salad and some wings. Not the cheapest place in town, but MAN was it good! The salad had a nice mix of lettuce (not just iceburg) with a good variety of veggies and lumps of feta. Everything was nice and fresh. I've said for awhile that these guys have the best Chicago hot dog in town (yup - better than Portillo's.) They're the only mom and pop place in Peoria who seem to understand that the poppy seed bun is not optional. But the real highlight of the night was the deep dish pizza. Why have I waited so long to try their pizza? The wasted years! I grew up in Chicago. I know my hot dogs and my deep dish. This place is the place to go downstate. Heads up - the deep dish pizza takes some time to make fresh, so order in advance. But believe me - it is totally worth the wait. Don't hesitate - just go get some food from here. Ordered takeout got a Luke warm pizza and not the correct size or order. Wait for a table depends on the entry person whom is usually a teenager with attitude . Dining in the food is usually good but can be unpredictable depending on the time and day of the week . There are better place's to spend your money with personnel who want to make your meal a pleasant experience. read more

Coming from Chicagoland I am always suspect of any place claiming Chicago-style pizza. Everyone at table got calzones and were very pleased. The spicy sausage was actually spicy! If you want the short version - here you go. Excellent, authentic, Chicago-style pizza served at a small, no-frills obvious local favorite. We had competed in an athletic competition that finished about 3pm. We were tired, REALLY hungry, had considered going to a nice restaurant, but we would have had to shower, clean up, change clothes etc. Being Chicago style pizza lovers we decided instead to see if there was anything local on Yelp. We found Chicago Pizza & Grill which, at the time, had a perfect 5 stars with 6 reviews. That's pretty rare. We pulled into the lot and thought "Really? This is it? Okay, ya, it's really a hole in the wall. Screw it, let's check it out." Here's the bottom line. Ya, it's small, seats maybe 30 people and there's not one thing fancy about it but it's exactly what we wanted. With one TV playing, not too loud, and not another soul in there, it was quiet and here's what matters ... The two people working it were the owners and it was obvious. The woman at the counter (where you order) told us how they make everything from scratch themselves, they only make so much pizza ingredients each day and when it's gone it's gone. I saw a picture of their Chicago-style pizza and it looked exactly like a Chicago-style pizza should, (i.e., Giordanos, Ginos etc). Being REALLY hungry I wanted some breadsticks to start. Nope, no breadsticks. Okay, not cool, but that's the only negative I've got here - a pizza place with no breadsticks? We ordered the meat lovers Chicago style - she told us it'd take 40 ish minutes (that's about right) and I tell you what - it was awesome! The male owner brought it out to our table and it looked exactly as it should - it's the real deal. My wife dished me a larger piece and holy crap was it a HEAVY piece of pizza (as in weight). Love it. It was excellent Chicago-style pizza! And as my wife and I discussed how cool it was to find this "hole in the wall local favorite" and how you could tell there was a lot of care and personal pride taken by the man who prepared it and his wife who took our order my wife said to me "You couldn't see him because he was behind you but after he brought our pizza out to us he turned, paused and wanted to see our reaction to our first bite." I have called this restaurant twice to order delivery. Once, a rather rude woman informed me that because they were closing in 40 minutes they would not be able to deliver to me (less than 1 mile away). She also refused to take a pickup order. The second time a nice young lady took my order, phone number and address, verified that the address (2.2 miles away) was in the delivery zone (they claim 4 miles). I was placed on hold for a minute or so only for her to return to inform me that "Mike" wasn't delivering tonight. She couldn't give an explanation, though she offered to let me talk to "Mike" to see if I could convince him. No thanks. Twice they have refused service to a customer, once rudely so. I don't care if this place has the best pizza in the world, I am done trying. I suggest you avoid it. Try Crust or Firehouse. Both are local, both tasty. Skip Chicago Style in Peoria. It took 40 minutes for my pizza to be ready but it was worth every second! I've been searching for a superb pizza joint in Peoria and I've had no luck at all, until I tried Chicago Pizza & Grill. I got a pepperoni and sausage pizza. It was very flavorful and I knew I had finally found my favorite pizza place in Peoria. 5 stars! It just doesn't get better than this. Only downside would be the time it took to make and the price. I paid $20 for my pizza and it took 40 minutes. Doesn't take away the flavor though. Delicious! read more

We ordered a small deep dish veggie pizza, with high expectations because of the reviews online. We brought the pizza home, and I was surprised to see the lack of sauce on the pizza (as you will see from the picture). I find this to be lazy and disrespectful, especially considering the small deep dish is at Chicago prices (over $20). To put a deep dish into a carryout and see that it has nothing near the right amount of sauce is unacceptable. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because the pizza did not taste bad, but more sauce was definitely needed to finish off the taste. Very disappointed. read more

Probably the best Italian beef sandwich I've had in my lifetime. Sorry to all the people out there who think they make the best Italian beef, you dont. Haha. Also I had some of my fiancé's gyro and it was equally as good. Sometimes a place has a good main course but comes up short with the sides, not this place. Fries were pretty yummy. I also like this place a lot bc the owners (who are very pleasant) are the ones back there cooking your food. I talked to the owners wife and she said they get all their meat/beef from Chicago, not frozen. Really good food quality and not a greasy diner unlike similar places that serve this type of food. I'll definitely be back, but not regularly bc food that tastes this good can't be good for you! (Better for you than fast food though) read more

Pizza was a big disappointment- not at all close to a real Chicago pizza. Very little sauce (which was tasteless) and while cheese was plentiful, it just stuck to the crust since the sauce was so minimal. The other food (Italian beef, Chicago style hot dogs) are better- go with those. If you want real Top of the line pizza in Peoria, go to Aurelios. Nothing else is even close. read more

We are Chicagoans so thought we'd try the stuffed pizza. While it is most definitely built like a traditional Chicago stuffed pizza, the taste was just ok. Ingredients from top to bottom seemed fresh but nothing stuck out as "wow", which you always want in a Chicago pizza, whether it be the crust or the sauce, etc. The pizza was expensive, on par with Chicago. My Husband also had the beef/sausage combo sandwich and said it was fine, not the best ever and not the worst. We appreciated that they made us a couple of orders of garlic cheese Texas toast, it was fine. Not sure why they don't have traditional French garlic bread. We probably won't be back as it is on the expensive side but not up to Chicago standards. read more
