I had my first visit here this afternoon and was very pleased with the entire experience. The doctor was incredibly nice, as was the man in the front who helped me choose my new glasses. The selection of glasses is rather small, but I purchase most of my frames online anyway. I was accommodated and helped to make my experience easy. My personal experience is negative. I choose to go for the reason of a Groupon promotion. The first visit was overall okay despite the store was short staffed. I was told my glasses would be ready early next week. I waited till the end of the told week, I called and they didn't know where my glasses were at. The reasons for the delay were not convincing. Still don't know when I would be getting my glasses. During the process I was the one initiate the search. You would expect a well run service tracks customers' orders and updates customers with what's going on but that was not the scenario at this store. If you don't mind spending extra time getting back and force on such issues feel free to come but I would advise those who want a normal and hassle free experience to avoid. The Groupon doesn't end up saving money either. Some stores hype up prices for Groupon purchases so they don't lose too much profit (which is understandable). So don't come for the reason of Groupon may be saving money. I am a frequent shopper at these stores so my review is not just based on this single experience at this store, but is compared to my visits to other stores. On a side note, the doctor who examines your eyes at this store, is quite nice. read more

I have been going here for years because the service, selection and prices are great. I am able to choose from high quality frames and styles from many designers and the service is awesome. I recently visited Chicago Vision Club and I was able to find a nice pair of Prada frames in no time. I had a good experience overall. The manager or owner of the location was very much willing to sit down with me and talk out potential options for getting new glasses after my initial exam. I've been doing business with Chicago Vision and its Evanston affiliate for ~20 years, first for optician services (i.e., fitting lenses into frames) and later for vision correction. I have had "Silhouette" frames (rimless) which require special fabrication, and Chicago Vision is one of the few around which service these frames. Roman is an engaging person and has been helpful in navigating various Medicare benefits which I now have. The optometrist who refracted me also advised me that I am in need of cataract surgery which I have been expecting as I am at "that age." read more

It was that time that I go have my vision test and get new glasses. How I dreaded it. I went through my insurance policy regarding where I can go and the other rules and regulations blah blah blah. The place that I had purchased my last two pair of glasses was on the list but the doctor was not available that day. I called another place that is close to my apartment but they were fully booked for the day. Then I had called Chicago Vision Club, third time was a charm....they were able to see my that day. Nice. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly with a smile by Yolanda. She had me do the proper paperwork. By I was done, the doctor was ready to see me. The doctor was new to the office. The doctor was very thorough with the examination. She was also very warm and professional. Yolanda is very professional with assisting me picking my new frames. She gave me great advise regarding different frames that would fit my face, however, she did not force her opinion on my final decision. She is a true professional. Have had 2 eye appts over the past year and everyone here is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Met the owner (of 20+ years) and he's very straight forward and easy to talk to. Isn't always there as other docs are usually handling the vision tests and providing feedback. Sometimes there is an office assistant as well to help with multiple customers. This place tends to have a steady stream of customers, but is efficient in handling all of them without long waits. Although they can handle walk-ins, an appointment is recommended. Parking isn't great, but just take the 22 Clark bus and you're good. Stops almost at the front door. read more

Ok, so you did the GroupOn thing and got hosed on the lenses portion of the deal. Yea, I know....it sucks. The super nice lady behind the counter suckered you into buying a pair of expensive glasses. Yea, yea...the doctor is boorish AF. Look fam, outsmart these clowns. Get your eye exam and frames, and get out of there. These guys aren't going to give you any savings at all. Due diligence is the name of the game. This place is shady, and that's the first thing you need to know. read more

I walked in off the street with my new eyeglass prescription, with about a week left to spend the balance of last year's FSA. I had scoured several optical shops but had not found anything that really wowed me. That changed at Chicago Vision Club. Yolanda was terrifically helpful, and the brownish red OGI frames I found -- although the color I wanted had to be ordered from the manufacturer -- are not only really stylish but very reasonably priced, especially with my Davis Vision discount. Adding in every bell and whistle imaginable (including my first progressive lenses), I still stayed close to my budget limit. They arrived in 10 days, and are just what I wanted. No complaints from me, and yesterday I was grilled by a woman in an elevator who insisted on knowing what brand my glasses were and where I got them. Can't do better than that! The exam was quick and efficient. Roman was awesome in helping me figure out which glasses would work better/not slip off my nose. I asked him for suggestions on what colors and styles would work well for me and he was great. Three days later and I get a call that my glasses were ready! Yay! Picked them up and love them and could see well. I saw a pair of frames that were new and loved them, too. Yolanda offered to see what they could do to exchange or something, but I already purchased and didn't want to cause issues. Today I was in a major predicament. I am leaving tomorrow for a hiking trip in Colorado and found myself completely out of contacts. I called CVC and asked if I could order more, but also asked for a spare pair to get me through the week. Roman told me that not only would he get my order placed, but he would have a pair of contacts waiting for me that afternoon. Although the shop already stays open until a generous 7pm, I found myself cutting it close to that as work events and a delay on the L had me nervous I would be too late. I called Roman again and asked if he would do me a huge favor and stay open just a little bit longer to accommodate, knowing full well that he had likely already had a long day. He told me not to worry, that he would be there for as long as I needed. I finally arrived a little after 7pm, Roman was waiting patiently at the desk, had a tray ready for me showing that my contacts had been ordered, and a fresh pair of temporary lenses to last me through my week. This small act of kindness goes to show that this is no ordinary eyeglasses shop. Roman and the staff are not only highly respected professionals, but patient and caring employees who go above and beyond for their customers. I have now been to the shop roughly 6 times for checkups, pickups and general eyeglasses browsing (they have a great collection), and have never had anything but the best experience. This place is small, but manages to cram in the best designer frames, and has killer sales a couple times a year (see the 50% sale the picture). I got my last two Armani frames (when something is part of your face, who wants to skimp?) there, and their customer service is excellent for stopping in and getting adjustments. read more

So right now I'm feeling like a TERRIBLE yelper because I did something very very bad! I wrote the review below and said that I would update it, but I never did. Today (basically 10 minutes ago because i ran home to write this) I went into this establishment and I was reprimanded by the owner because I didn't update it like I said and that people were coming in and asking him about my review and if he honored what he said he would. Normally I would be mad that I was reprimanded, but I honestly feel terrible because he DID 100% honor what he said he would. It took about a week, but called me and gave me the rest of the month free like he said he would. I know that he is very upset with me, but for all it's worth I want to set things straight. I hope everyone who reads this knows that he is a trustworthy and honorable business man and I would 110% recommend you to take your eye business there. (I probably won't be showing my face there for a while though out of pure embarrassment....eek!) read more

Two stars instead of one because the doctor was really nice. Regardless, my experience here was completely unsatisfactory. I was taken 40 minutes late for my appointment that I had made during a work day. Exam room was small and had a closet feel to it. They told me that they would e-mail my prescription to me. I never received the prescription. I called several times and left messages with no return or prescription. After three months of calling and hounding, they insisted me that they sent it to me already. Searching my gmail inbox, spam, and trash folders proved otherwise. I was able to squeeze my prescription from them today (Oct 11). My exam was in July. I will not be here for my future vision needs. read more

I bought a Groupon for an eye exam and lenses/frames for this company. Although it was the first optical exam I have ever had, they were very nice and it was speedy. I was able to get some awesome Ray Bands and the prescription is perfect for what I needed. Yolanda was seriously the best and the reason I wanted to write this review. She helped me with so many problems I had. I brought in a pair of vintage Chanel sunglasses I had because I wanted to replace the severely scratched lenses. She was able to get new lens for these rare frames against all odds. I also happened to nearly break these same sunglasses a few weeks after getting the frames inserted. I took them to her and AGAIN, believing there was no way they could be fixed, she was able to get them fixed. Every time I called with something that needed to be fixed she went through great lengths to help me out and always did a wonderful job! I'll keep going back to them. read more

This place sucks. I came here awhile back with a Dealfind deal I believe, it was $40 for $200 towards an eye exam and frames. I went for the eye exam in which they took me early because I was there and the person before me missed their appointment, which was fine. However during the exam I couldn't read anything they put up because they had this light glaring off of the wall in which halfway through they adjusted it, and I can finally see. The doctor's exact words were "you can't see any of this, how are you walking around" .....bitch. Lucky I didn't give her retarded ass a piece of my mind then. ANYWAYS, it's finally time to pick out frames and all of their frames are Gucci, Ray-Ban, Burberry...etc. There was only one pair of ugly ass glasses that my voucher would fully cover, everything else required me to pay 200+ more dollars, and at the time I didn't have a job, so I wasn't all that hopeful on coming up with the money. Eventually, I decided to just get the ugly ass pair I had seen because I needed to be able to see the board at school. I finally had an overnight job, and lived on the opposite side of town so I had to call and schedule an appointment, or else I would have had to wait 4 hours from the time I got off until the time they open. It took me over FIVE months to finally reach someone today. I left a message as soon as they opened, and still hadn't received a call back within' 3 hours so I decided to call them. A dude picked up the phone, and I explained the situation and was referred to someone else who basically said my voucher had expired, and that there is nothing they can do. UH excuse me? How did it expire? I had already partially used it by getting the exam which I feel they should honor the remainder and let me get some fucking glasses. Besides, it's not hurting them at all. Maybe had they actually called me back, so much time wouldn't have passed and I could have used the damn thing before it "expired" also, you took my $40 and I got nothing out of it in the end. The least you could do was refund my money, and make my exam results unavilable to me as a fair trade off. This place is awful. Hopefully, DealFind will refund the money I spent on this shit hole. read more

Trusted Eye Care Professionals and Discerning Optometrists! Yolanda and Roman are the best. They genuinely care about your wellbeing, not to mention one's vision (and fashion sense). :) I am a longtime patient (8 years). For my first visit, they saved me when I chipped my gas perms and have continually kept up to date with new lens technologies. The first year I not only was assisted immediately, I was also given FREE temporary contacts while my order was being processed so I wouldn't have to struggle with my backup glasses. Their service is superb. They remember details and preferences from past appointments that even I had forgotten. They also take the time to explain any nuances specific to you. All 3 optometrists are up to date, personable, and professional. Not the cheapest, but reasonable prices... and well worth the difference you might have saved elsewhere. Yes, I have tried many other places and the service does not come close. (I have had corrective lenses since Kindergarten. Moved to Chicago about 10 years ago.) After years of complaining about problems with my near vision, I came here, and the doctor was the first person ever to diagnose the fact that I need bifocals. Reading and working at the computer are sooo much better for me now. Roman at the front desk is nice, too, and helpful in making sure you get frames that look good on you. They take my vision insurance, so the price comes out reasonable for me, but one star off because just about all the frames are designer, and it would be nice to have some less expensive choices. read more

Wonderful experience here. Yolanda was a joy to work with, and the optometrist was very thorough and helped me to make some decisions to save a few bucks while improving my vision. I had to stop by today because I was having trouble with the reading part of the lenses (yes - old guy with bifocals), and Yolanda showed me how I had bent the frames a little and that it was affecting which part of the lens I was looking for. She had my frames fixed and I was out seeing perfectly again in about 5 minutes - no charge. read more
