I wanted to get myself a nice pen so I bought a $95 Kaweco pen from this store. Signs on the wall said returns are accepted within 30 days and the salesperson told me I'd be able to return the item. When I got home, I really didn't like how the pen wrote on my notebook. I returned to this store well within the 30 day window to return the pen. The first person I spoke to was kind and told me that they could accept the return. Then a woman came over who told me that I can't return the pen because I have used it. She suggested that I ruined the function of the pen by messing with the nib, which I never did. She didn't introduce herself or ask me any questions to clarify what I didn't like about the product, and turned and walked away when I still had unresolved questions. I definitely feel that the way I was treated was not appropriate. Overall, what I experienced was a very stuck-up, "you're not worth our time" attitude and feeling from this Topdrawer store. After getting back home I did a bit of research and ended up buying FIVE pens for a fraction of the cost of the one pen I got from Topdrawer, and I am much happier with these pens. I recommend everyone do the same before buying an overpriced fountain pen that can't be returned.

First off, let me start by saying I walk by this facility everyday and notice the great choices of frames they have displayed in their store....so I decided that finally, I would quit beating around the bush and actually buy a nice pair of glasses....little did I know what kind of rude awakening I would run into.....FIRST OF ALL whom ever this manager named Kerry is, is the most unprofessional mess I have ever encountered, she is rude, has no class, and when I asked about products she was more concerned about what was going on outside and had the nerve to talk rudely about a customer in the store. I left with no intentions on coming back...a few days later, my co-worker and I were on lunch break and and my co-worker decided to stop in and try it again...WITH A REFRESHING GUST OF FRESH AIR, Kerry was off, there I ran into Carrie and Jeremy THEY WERE completely opposite of what I had encountered my first visit, they knew their products, offered to help us try on multiple pairs of glasses, even offered to save our information on their computer for future reference.....WARNING.....DO NOT GO IF there so-called manager is working....my advice...call ahead and ask for Kerry the manager....if she is working....avoid her at all cost....other than that Carrie, Jeremy, and the young lady at the front were a pleasure to talk to! read more

I'm a window tinter by trade. My job requires detailed oriented work and extreme focus in tight places like the corners of windows, being able to see minute water spots and fitting window tint material inside of window casings. Long story short - I needed glasses. Since I was tinting a few professors cars last week in the UIC area, i came about Village Eye Care, scheduled an appointment and showed up on time. I had to wait 5 minutes, but no big deal. So i guess I'm a little near-sighted and far-sighted, which I didn't know could happen and apparently I have an astigmatism. I bought glasses and contacts and they fit great, which is more important to me than the style of the frames, but I've had a few people compliment the glasses as well. Definitely the best eyecare I've received. Everyone is genuinely friendly. There was a 20 minute delay from my appointment time but that was nothing; I work in an orthopedic clinic where patients often wait an hour to see the doctor so 20 minutes was absolutely nothing for me. I wish I could remember the doctor's name because she was excellent! She explained EVERYTHING to me. She made me feel comfortable and went through every step of the appointment with me. I appreciated her for this because I did not get this type of care with my previous doctor. I also appreciated the worker who facilitated the check out process. She was very helpful and again explained things as she did them. She even updated my lenses while I was there. I've already recommended this place to my mom and sister who are both upset with their care at Lens Crafters, I would 100% recommend this place to anyone! read more

I have been going to Village Eyecare since I moved to the South Loop in 2012 and I have been very pleased! I have seen 2 doctors there (Dr. Sood and 1 other who's name I unfortunately can't remember now) and have been very impressed with both. They were very personable and were able to explain the issues that I have with my eyes very well. I have not bought glasses from Village Eyecare but have been very happy with my contact selection and options. Additionally, the staff that work in the main area are so friendly and also very willing to accommodate any request. I did have to go to a different location to get a glaucoma test in 2013 but I believe that now the south loop location also does that test and I will be able to go there when I get it done this year so no real complaints there! My first visit to this office was fantastic! I have been an eyeglasses wearer for 17 years and contacts wearer for 14 years. I have ridiculously complicated eyes and Dr. Urbaniak did an amazing job figuring out what the best options were for me. I know for a fact it takes a lot of patience to deal with my eyes so it was great to come out with some solutions that were helpful to me. I appreciated the office even more when they took the time to look over my insurance to help me save money when buying contacts and eyeglasses. With a prescription so complicated, I have learned that it can be expensive, but after my visit I felt great with how much money I could save. Upon arriving at Village Eyecare I was greeted by the front desk coordinator who was extremely friendly, helpful and professional. He assisted me in filling out half of my paperwork, which is a gift in and of itself, and he gave me an estimated wait time of when my doctor would be ready to see me while offering me a beverage of my choice. My doctor was very personable, caring, and explanatory in terms of eye health and my options with contacts. I felt very comfortable throughout my exam and left with no questions or surprises. First of...Dr. Sarai knows what he is doing. I have never felt more comfortable working with an eye doctor. I went in there after reading some of the reviews not really knowing what to expect, but I can say this, the negative ones are not to be trusted. I was given professional treatment from the staff and doctor. From the minute I walked in the door, I was treated like a loyal customer. They properly diagnosed my eye problem and had me walking out of the store eagerly awaiting my new frames. I had the unfortunate luck of ripping a contact- and I hadn't packed any spares. The hotel recommended Village Eyecare, and I called their Wabash office. I wasn't able to get there before they closed at 5:00, but they suggested I head over to their University Village location. So I took my half blind self over to Taylor Street. Maribel and Lori took great care of me and had me seeing in no time. Between their kindness and finally being able to see again, everything seemed amazing. The Doctors and staff here are amazing. They were very helpful in both the exam and purchase of my new glasses. The Dr made sure to ask what I needed them for and explained every aspect of my exam and the results to me. The staff was very patient and helpful in selecting my glasses and went the extra mile by fixing a pair of sunglasses for me that had been crushed by a heavy box and I thought were a loss. When I look at all the low ratings I am not quite sure why. I was looking for a new eye doctor and came across Village Eyecare on Google. I am very happy I did. Not only did I make an appointment and show up on the same day, I was treated by a knowledgable and professional doctor. Dr. Sarai is one of the best Doctors that I have worked with. I purchased my first pair of glasses at Village Eye Care over 20 years ago and I'll never go to another place. Dr. Sood is fantastic, I have lately had her as my optician. My eyes are gradually getting worse, but she keeps up on the technology with glasses and many of her recommendations have helped my vision. So now I have sunglasses that I cant see with and I had to pay out of pocket for. They were inconsistent telling me the glasses were ready and then not ready and then requiring an appointment just to pick them up. Overall they were rude and not at all helpful. The worst part is that I have ended up with glasses that are completely useless.

Dr Kristina did our exam, one after the other. She was very professional and personable! We had great conversation and I really enjoyed hearing how she was liking Chicago. Our appt overall went well and as expected. I think my only issue was the front desk was not the warmest. I asked a few questions that were met with some attitude. I'm just chalking it to them being new and needing to iron out some kinks so I won't hold it against them. Also wish they had a bigger selection of eye glasses. My partner wanted to order a pair but wasn't able to find ones that he liked. We will have to return to the South Loop location for that another day.

She got me in touch with a former colleague of hers who helped me set up an appointment. Thus far I've been there several times and have another appointment scheduled. My initial appointment lasted several hours (2-3). It was the most thorough exam I've had since I was a child. Some of the testing that was done I hadn't done or don't recall ever being done. I got an explanation of issues regarding my eyes, some of which I'd never heard before (having lifelong vision problems it was surprising to hear). The professor and residents who worked with me were all very nice, professional and appeared to very knowledgeable. The main resident I saw has followed up regarding scheduling the follow-up appointments. I'll definitely return.

Despite this, I was skipped and another patient who arrived after me was taken first without any explanation. This was unprofessional and dismissive behavior from Dr. Stephanie. I expect to be treated in the order I arrive unless there is a clear medical reason communicated to me.
