I want to thank TC for understanding my unique situation and getting me into a class on short notice. Also kudos to Don for making the class interesting, relevant as well as organized. Our class consisted of people from ALL backgrounds and ages...from novice to experienced and everything in between. Myself being older, highly skilled and experienced, I liked how no question was ever overlooked or undervalued by our instructors vast knowledge from those with less knowledge. The highlight of the 2 day CCL class for me was range qualification. It was relaxed, yet structured and everyone was at ease and safe. As is most things in life, the more you put in...the more you'll get out of the overall experience. Although instructor Don could have droned on and on doing ALL the reading, he wisely chose all the class members to read aloud. This was helpful to the entire class and especially the shy students who would've just sat back letting their classmates carry the class. My experience was quite satisfying and highly productive. Absolutely do not give this man your money. The class is mostly him rambling about his own politics, making up statistics that you can look up and prove aren't true, and just generally being a bigot and a creep. He also makes tons of comments about how "even women" can learn to shoot and things like that. He spent so long talking about political crap that we ran out of time for the actual class in order to make it to the range on time. He gave literally ONE sentence of direction about each person's shooting and then rushed us all out. He was also so scattered that he didn't bring our certifications with him to the range so I had to make a second trip to the office to pick it up. Horrible experience and I don't feel any more knowledgeable than before I dropped a couple hundred bucks on this jerk. read more

I would give 10 stars if possible. Super professional, very thorough training for the concealed carry renewal course. I took the course today and I took it five years ago. Dan is awesome. He is very knowledgeable and extremely patient. This time he also had Tony with him. Same thing. He is a very knowledgeable and friendly patient instructor. They also have TC DOING ALL THE PAPERWORK FOR YOU. ILLINOIS REQUIRES A LOT OF DOCUMENTATION AND SHE IS WONDERFUL. Don was very easy to learn from and a great teacher. I took my CCL and armed class with him and he is very knowledgable. Not only that but he makes the class interactive and fun. I 100% think everybody needs to go to him to take his class. If I get any other license or need to take classes again, I will go to him. read more

This facility does a thorough job of training citizens on the use, cleaning and safety of firearms. I took the concealed carry course there in May 2020 and was well impressed with their level of professionalism and ability to ready our class for this designation in a weekend course, which also included the firing range. I had a great experience in Don's CCL course. The videos he showed from USCCA were extremely informative on the basics of guns but especially on the broader personal defense mindset, too. Don emphasized certain points with authority given his wealth of experience. The hands-on portions of the course were invaluable, too. I now feel confident in my basic understanding of how both revolvers and semi-auto handguns function. Crucial matters like how to address common semi-auto jams were also covered in addition to safely responding to ammo malfunctions. Safety was of course a paramount element of the course, too (the four rules). The final day included ample material on the legal aspects of self-defense and how to assess the grimmest of scenarios. I definitely recommend this course to anyone wanting a good basic foundation on handguns and self defense. read more

Don and his team operate a well-oiled machine. Classes are handled in a constructive, timely manner and Don provides incredibly helpful insight on legal matters and offers some interesting historical relevance. I took the company's CCW course in November and while i appreciated the continuity of the course and added commentary, i found some of the content to be redundant. There's a lot of video-based instruction and the topics overlap quite a bit and wastes some time, in my opinion. For example, i was a bit displeased that by the end of the 2 day course, we hadn't spent any time learning how to breakdown, clean, treat the weapon. additionally, i think some more time could have been spent on legal matters, but all in all, i enjoyed my time and learned a lot. read more

I took the 20 hr unarmed security class, Don was very helpful and knowledgeable .I learned a lot about security and the industry those 2 days and I am definitely going back to get my armed security certificate.The class was very informal ,yet informative and detailed. read more

I found the instructor highly experienced and the course very effecient and covered all of the basic information needed to handle and shoot a firearm safely. I took my 40-hour training, Had a blast and learned how to shoot a gun who doesn't love that haha.. When Illinois went Concealed carry I came back.. Don still hasn't changed. He keeps the class interesting and fun. I learned how to take a gun apart, and maintain them. He also gave me direction in my next possible gun purchase. I recommend going here. I highly recommend Chicagoland Firearm Training. I had 2 different trainers for the 2 days and they have an extensive experience and knowledge in the area of firearms and Illinois law, but aren't lawyers, regarding firearms in Illinois. I have gained much knowledge and insight that I didn't have prior to this class. I didn't regret going and I must give props to Mike Crouse and Tony Nieves for making the class enjoyable, keeping it real, and bringing integrity to the class. As this Covid-19 pandemic began it's uptick in the middle of March, I began a class at Chicago Firearm Training and was the only student that day. Normally I would expect to be asked to 'come back when the class is larger,' but what I got was an enthusiastic, experienced, no-holds-barred, trainer by the name of Don Haworth, that gave me all of his attention. I've learned SO MUCH in the time that I was there in training, and his hands-on training and instruction at the range was great! Teaching me how to literally shoot from the hip, and taking my head out of sight alignment battery to reacquire the target, an extremely useful technique. I'm also glad that he held class with me alone as I understood that classes were being canceled that next week because of the virus. I am thankful for this class and I highly recommend going to CFT, because of the professionalism, experience, and detailed explanation of what it means to be Concealed and Carry. read more

Was sent here by my boss to complete a 20 hour training to be an armed guard it was great the teacher was great he made it very interesting. I took my ccw class through a different company I wish I would've went through them they taught me so much and we had a good time doing it! Definitely recommend going here for any class you need to take and I will definitely come back for future classes. read more
