This was a very great class. I enrolled to obtain my CCL. I was very nervous at first but trainer Tom Manos was the PERFECT teacher. He is very smart, proficient and HIGHLY experienced. I recently took a firearms training class at this location and it was great the experience was phenomenal. The instructor was very knowledgeable and taught me a lot of things that I didn't learn in my concealed carry class that I took over two years ago at a different location. My instructor Thomas Manos was very much hands on with the class I definitely walked away feeling more confident about open carry and concealed carry. I really can't believe that this place doesn't have any reviews yet! They have been around for YEARS and are considered the epitome of security training here in Chicago and the surrounding areas. I'm on my second day of taking conceal and carry classes and I just had to express my overwhelming satisfaction with this long running company. My first experience with them was over 10 years ago and I was just as satisfied. Some companies, over the years and for various reasons, tend to "fall off" and the service they offer dwindles, NOT with these folks! They're extremely down to earth and treat you like family with the upmost respect! Adding a sense a humor as well makes this company the place to go! For great, caring professionals and a way to learn about firearms in Chicago, I highly recommend Security Training Center. Sue, Nicki and Walt thoroughly trained my entire class over three days and knew EVERYONE'S name cold from day one. We were all addressed by name and given individual attention when needed. Of course, the main emphasis was to get safety ingrained when handling guns and using sound judgment to protect ourselves as well as others. The trainers make this place amazing (and being located in the city is a huge plus). I had never fired a gun in my life but I'm around them and just wanted to learn more about firearms. From day one, I considered quitting before the shooting range test. I didn't quit and I shot 30 rounds successfully and overcame an enormous fear that I had for being exposed to firearms. I still think firearms are to be treated with caution but I gained a tremendous satisfaction for completing a task I didn't think I could do. Now, I'm glad that I learned something about firearms and many aspects of handling, storage, legal consequences and the responsibilities for registered gun owners. Holy unprofessional! I"m writing my review in regards to their re-qualification for armed security training and I can't necessarily speak to their concealed carry class. I could never really get a hold of anyone and I always had to leave the voicemail, which would take anywhere from hours to days to get a reply. That was the standard for them and I'm not knocking them for that because I'm sure it's because they get busy. After all, the place is well known. The part I am going to knock them for, however, is that they seemed like I was inconveniencing them when I did talk to them. I needed to get re-qualified for all four guns and even told them I had my own equipment, but they insisted that I use their rifle and shotgun. On top of that, they did not know when they could get me to the range to re-qualify. I kind of got the feeling that they didn't really feel like working with me because I did not get my tan card through them. I could be wrong, but that's just the impression that I got. When they didn't know when I could re-qaul with them they said they would get back to me and then I didn't hear from them for weeks. The cherry on top was when they did finally return my call and they called me by a different name. I found another company to re-qual with and I couldn't be happier with the decision. It's a bit of a drive for those living in Chicago, but the Marksmanship Training Group was who these guys pushed me to and I was able to re-qual right away without any problems. I took the armed security and conceal carry training . If you listen to everything these awesome trainers tell you then you will do just fine . I'm so excited about the doors that has opened for me with the help of the knowledgable ,confident, and fun staff . I wasn't too sure about where to enroll to take the Illinois Concealed carry class. Being that the law came up pretty quickly you didn't know who to trust when choosing a school to take the course. Luckily a friend recommended Security Training Center. The people here were very professional, straightforward, down to earth, and practical. The main things you needed to know were drilled into you constantly and that really came in handy when it came to the shooting part of the course. Brian was my instructor and he is a total no B.S. pro. Nikki was handling the front desk and the paperwork, but she is also a badass and I wouldn't mess with her! Overall a very good experience. Also, the price is about half of anywhere else I checked. I would recommend Security Training Center to anyone who is interested in concealed carry. read more
