Flew all the way to Chicago to complete my non resident CCL for Illinois. After extensive research I decided IPST group. Gary, Deb, and the lead instructor Chris LaPash, were awesome. Gary and Deb insured that paperwork was streamlined and complete; range time was completed in expeditious fashion. Chris' class was extensive!! And I mean EXTENSIVE. He fills about 20+plus hours of information in the 16 hour required class timeframe. Complete with dry runs of the range, law and policy information, even finger trigger placement, position and posture, eye dominance. I've participated in half a dozen of CCL classes. This was the first to cover so much information and even incorporated defensive insurance!!! They also support local businesses as the range we went to was a small mom and pop indoor range. I took the CCL class this past weekend and it was amazing. Our instructor Chris, was extremely knowledgeable, made the time we were in class fly by. He is very passionate about safety and made sure we also understood the Illinois laws. He also has a great sense of humor as well as Deb & Gary. What a great team. Their patience and guidance during dry runs as well as our shooting test are well beyond anything I have experienced. Great people. Gary does have a potty mouth, but I wasn't offended. If this would bother you just sign up for another instructor whom I sure will share the same passion for teaching. I felt like I was part of a family during this course. 100% awesome team. I want to preface this by saying that not everyone's brain learns the same way. Having ADHD, I make every possible attempt that I can to pay extra attention to make up for my learning deficit. Now, this obviously is my issue. I realize that. What I wasn't prepared for was during our "drills" was that Chris was going to scold and embarrass me in front of the whole class when simply correcting me would have sufficed. I get that the nature of the beast is safety first. You can correct/ teach/ emphasize without belittling students. Maybe that wasn't his intent but that's how he made me feel. Put on the spot. Prior to the end of class before dismissal- Chris mentioned that "if I hurt anyone's feelings" etc.....all while looking directly at me.... and offered up a vague apology just before mentioning that we should give a review and that he and his child read them together. Day 2 at the range was better than the first. Chris knew I had anxiety but a better part of it was because of how he handled me during the drill- but he stepped up and was kinder at the range thankfully. I know this is going to sound like I'm not pleased with the whole experience which is untrue. My point is to leave a review of the whole experience. Chris also incessantly swears. I get that you're trying to emphasize your points- but almost every sentence was F bombs and the like. Speaking in such a way chronically- loses it's pizazz. I'm only mentioning this because even my son mentioned it (and his tolerance for such language is greater than mine). Overall, the experience as a whole served it's purpose. Chris was quite knowledgeable and offered up lots of information. Could it have been better?! Yes. Was it horrible?! No. A bit of advice, at the end of class maybe you can say- if anyone has questions, feel free to stay for a few minutes and if you don't- class dismissed. The owners were great! A friend recommended this class for the conceal to carry as she had taken the class herself and really liked the class. I decided to register myself and mother for the 16 hour course. The trainer Chris Lapase was really good and kept the class interactive and informative. The Saturday and Sunday class was from 730-430. The class was full of approximately 29 students.The first day was all information. The second day was information and range. The class was well organized. Fingerprinting and information about applying for the license was reviewed throughly. The owners the Linds have a excellent program. Would recommend friends, family or anyone! This is a cash grab! I was parking my car in a spot in the parking lot, which is not that big, and I watched two guys entering the building right before me. One guy even pointed at me as I was getting out of my car. The person at the door didn't care. I was steps away from the door when they closed it and left. There was no way in once the door had been closed. I knocked, but no one came. Absolute bust. Additionally, if you need to reschedule, they charge a fee of $50. My friend tried to reschedule but declined after being informed of the fee. This is one of those advertisements that need to be read completely before purchasing. I highly recommend looking for a CCL without all the fine print BS. read more

This month I took the conceal and carry 16 hour weekend course at this location using a Groupon. I have to say, it is a lot of information so pay attention. Last weekend was spent with the IL Public Safety Training Group Team. It was incredibly informative - with a great pace considering all the materials covered. Even the seasoned gun owners would definitely learn something new during this course. I was in class the first weekend of March, 2019. We scheduled through a popular ticketing website several weeks in advance, online. Because there were four of us in the group, I ordered them at the same time. I will admit, I was worried about how good the quality would be b/c the price was amongst the lowest I've found; however, when I walked in I knew these people had the concealed carry class thing figured out and I was right. Their price is very fair and they do about 40 people per weekend - they must sell out every class b/c when we booked we could see classes filling up several weeks in advance. They have an office space in a building that has several offices but they set it up like a classroom. Very nice tables and nice chairs - I read reviews where people said the chairs were terrible but they just invested in new chairs after reading feedback from former students. I've read very good reviews on the instructors, we were fortunate enough to get the owners, Gary and Deb Lind, who I felt were both exceptional. They were a perfect tandem and with firearms being handled they threaded the needle PERFECTLY, balancing being assertive and clear when giving instruction and handling pistols and NOT being power hungry, authoritatively bossy or rude as some instructors or range instructors tend to be. From someone who takes verbal communication and presentation skills seriously, it was truly an outstanding experience entirely. I would recommend it to anyone considering CCW. read more

I would highly recommend this place to take your required conceal and carry classes for the IL CCL. The class is well organized and hits on all of the important points. Our instructor Joe was great. The communication prior to taking the class was great. I had some questions before I took the class and I got a response each time I asked a question. The instructor joe is very rude and disrespectful! I set in class all day listening to his story about his son coming home from college to his friend being killed by the police and when I asked a question in regards to the training (the laws for carrying a gun, what I paid my money to learn)I was told shut up and focus on hitting the targets and then was compared to A blind dog( hitting targets)! I felt so disrespected that I didn't want to continue the training class with him. So I called Gary to request a refund to inform him on the situation his wife later FaceTime me with an nasty attitude to inform me she wasn't willing to refund my money! Didn't enjoy the class at all. There were 50 people crammed into a small room. The trainer, Gary, was terrible. He sped through everything. I barely learned a thing. Half the class was him showing us all his guns and talking about them in detail. I don't care about your "awesome" guns and holsters. He used vulgar language and yelled and cussed at students. He used anti-gay, anti-liberal, and sexist slurs. I know it's a gun class and guns are violent but you don't have to talk like that. He showed videos with extremely vulgar language and most videos seemed like an advertisement for other products and services. He took us to a small, crappy gun range where I waited for 3 hours to shoot 21 rounds because there were 100 students there. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because of the dirt cheap price of $60. I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Great class took mine about 2 years ago? My mom went too and she loved it as well. Great ppl relatable answers ALL questions very informative and walks you through the different types of guns etc . the class was a bit crowded but it really didn't have a bad effect on the material.
