After receiving multiple phone calls from Chicagoland Singles, I decided to go in and find out what it was all about. I tried to get a price range over the phone, but nothing would be divulged. That should have been my first clue, but I went in anyway. I had to fill out paperwork where was also asked my SSN, which I was informed was for background checks. I fell for it. Next I met Tracy. Tracy was informative, chatty and I easily fell into sharing past stories of dating and they have hopes of finding Mr. Right. After much conversa tion, the price negotiating began. They start out high, propose 3 different programs and have you wanting the most expensive program as it offers the most. Next they look into where they can reduce the price. They bring it down where you almost think you are getting a deal. I tried to cancel but missed he fine print that I needed a certified letter sent. I called them several times and emailed but they did not call me back until after the deadline. 4 months later not e date. The pool they have to choose from is very limited. I am guessing they are having trouble recruiting. Went to an event and it was all women. I am now paying $29.00 a month so I can use their website. RUN, don't walk, away from Chicagoland Singles. They feed on people's sincere desire to find someone with a lot of lies and deceit.They set up a total FAKE front personalized interview to "sweet talk" and made you believe you will get " personal matchmaker service" to tailor for your search, all their said services were never true since day one. Elaine, my matchmaker, sent me matches. One is way overweight and loves to play puzzles and stay indoor. When I spent 2-3 hours explaining to her I am looking for someone who is fit and active, seriously????? Also sent me a guy who's status is "separated", and when I was questioning about this guy, all they can say is there is nothing to worry about ! Seriously ??? There was one guy who seemed to fit my request, and after a long month, still has no reply from this guy. Did Elanie just send me someone has fake account???? What was even more ridiculous... They organized a dinner event with a performance meant to let Chicagosingle members socialize and mingle. When I got there, I saw lots of young families with their children or very elderly participants. We were the odd ones among this family/ nursing home event !!!! The whole night we were made to sit and have dinner and "watch" the show and participate in some fun kids games in between...seriously????? All members attending this event were mostly in their 60-70+, I am in my early 50s, Paid almost $7000 membership for this ?????? By the way there was also another event, I met those of the same age group members. At the end of the night, what really tipped me off was, apart from being so disappointed with the event, Amanda from the office was there " supposedly" to help gel the group, she introduced an way older guy to sit and chat to me, I felt so trapped and upset with the whole event. Next day I called the office to express my total frustration, all you hear is " excuses". At that point, I felt no hope at all with them to provide me anything even though I had really tried myself to cooperate with the company to make it work. When I asked for a refund, shouldn't they have tried their best to make you stay ? No! Not with this scammer company, Amanda from the office replied to me" good luck"! I of course tried to dispute the charge from my credit card company, however this scammer made you sign their" grand master contract" which had protected themself 100% not to refund, this contract allows them to just TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOTHING !!!!!! Honestly, I spent an hour going through their intro sales pitch, with them asking me several times to provide my SSN and Background Check information. We went over my lifestyle, my desires, and what I'm hoping for. Then they asked me again to fill out the Background check and credit check information, but I insisted on an honest statement of cost. Reluctantly, they told me a minimum if $575 down to start the program and at least $100/ month for their bare minimum access and services. I hate to imagine the cost of their full service deal. I passed. While it's sold to you as "an investment in yourself and your love life" that's quite a high price to pay for this service. I do understand they have overhead to pay: employees, rent, and online media security, but for the casual working American, it's a bit steep. read more

I have empathy for the others on here with less than perfect experience since we're all hoping to find someone special in life. First off, DO NOT put your social security number on there. That shouldn't be divulged until you actually sign a contract & pay. Somehow they ran my credit without it & discovered a freeze that I placed due to a security breach from.....guess what.....my ss# being used fraudulently! Without being braggadocios, my credit is superb, so this wasn't a concern. Second, their prices for their "good, better, and best" (my descriptions) were $8k, $9k, and $10k!! That didn't include the "today only" sale (not my words) of $1k off each selection, and that's the oldest trick in the book. Used car salesman were known for this for years, and any legitimate offer should be good anytime. The first membership is for one year and NO matching assistance; only about 5 potential dates they provide you online via members only. Second membership is for 18 months which includes matches by them & some other things. The last selection is for 2 years, which is all inclusive. Suffice it to say, I agree with that one woman on here: being single isn't so bad after all. Follow up: What the other woman wrote about how much you pay is dependent upon your credit check, I believe she's absolutely correct. Once they realized I had a credit freeze & questioned me on it (like it's any of their business), she asked my credit score. Shortly after that is when she divulged prices. Sexy sales associate told me great matchmaking success stories. Asked me series of questions..that I answered honestly. Then it came time to talk contracts and fees. I asked a few simple questions like ratio of women to men members..and how many total current active women members . She refused to disclose that information. Let me start out with acknowledging the fact that I am NOT a member of Chicagoland Singles. Nor will I ever be. I've had two conversations with a few of the staff and I met with Tracy tonight. They called me several times but I travel and work a lot so I kept telling them to call me when I had more time to talk. I finally talked to Jenny and we went through my current situation and what I wanted from a relationship. During this call, I set up a time to go into the office to meet with one of their matchmakers. This evening, I went in and a gentleman greeted me at the front desk and asked me to fill out paperwork. I noticed the second line item was for my SSN. I asked why it was asking me for it and he said that I didn't have to put it in if I didn't want to. So I didn't. I filled the rest out, while he chatted my ear off, and handed the clipboard back to him. 5 SECONDS later, I get an alert from Mint that someone had run a credit check on me. WHAT? HOW? How is it legal and OK for someone to run a credit check without my SSN!?!?! I was livid and asked how they did that so fast and that I did not consent. A woman came out and showed me where I signed for consent....BUT I DID NOT GIVE YOU MY SSN!!! My gut told me to walk out right then but I didn't. (I really, really, really, really need to start listening to that thing!!!) Soon after my hissyfit, Tracy came out and swooped me into her office. I made it very clear that I did not want them to run my credit report and did not realize that would be done the MIN I walked into the office. She said she would give me a letter I could send to the credit bureau and they would remove it from my credit report. (I never got that letter.) Foreshadowing - I later found out why they run your credit report....stay tuned. My conversation with Tracy...One word - WOW. For a woman who prides herself on being a love/matchmaking expert, she has a lot of questionable stories to share. And she's good. She was able to hit on some pretty vulnerable parts of my past and I even started crying. I'm no angel and I would never air anyone's dirty laundry on the internet but seriously....A bit of advice, Tracy, try to stop talking for more than 3-4 seconds to learn about your potential client and you might have a little better luck being a legit matchmaker. It took me no time to figure out this whole thing is a scam. Actually, it did take time. A LOT of time....in fact, I was in her office for almost 3 hours. THREE.HOURS! I'm more pissed off at the time I spent in there than the run on my credit. My time is gold to me. And this person gave no regard to it. Anyway, after the 2.5 hour "The Life of Tracy" saga, she finally pulled out their pricing booklet with the three tiers of membership and she told me the first, lower tier is for the "younger people who don't know any better" (or some BS like that) but there was a Standard and VIP tier that had more benefits. Ok..whatever. When she asked me what I was interested in, I said that the Standard one met my expectations. She responded with "Oh, did you say that because it's the middle of the road?" ...... ...... ...... I should have gotten up and left right then. Many times. But for some stupid reason, I was stuck in my chair. OH! Almost forgot... When we were talking about me signing up for a membership, I said I wouldn't be able to join right there and then because it was more than what I could afford. All of a sudden, the price of the member ship is cut almost in half and she asks for a deposit that is almost exactly what I had available on my credit card. Then I could pay a monthly fee. As others have said, they have a fawningly attentive interview about how you deserve better in your search for love that is really a cold, calculated sales pitch. It's all a scam. They are liars and thieves. I'm pretty sure how much your "package" costs seems to be based on the "background check" that they run which includes a credit check. The better your credit score, the more they're going to tell you it costs. I have good credit, so I paid thousands. Literally, the plural of thousand. Plus there's additional monthly fees for their website which is so limited and glitchy as to be useless. I was also told that events would be free for my package, only to find out that's not a thing. Liars every chance they get. There is no personalized attention - especially if you work 9-5 and can't take calls during the day. And even if there were personalized attention, it doesn't matter since there are only a handful of active members. Every quarter they'll halfheartedly send a few names out, but they don't know anything about either person really, so they are terrible matches. I joined 4 and half years ago, and I've had some guys be recommended to me 3 times, with one or both of us having already rejected the match, so they're not even keeping track. In 4 and a half years, I have been on 4 dates. Two somehow thought that because I agreed to meet them once, I agreed to something long term, and over coffee the first time, they were talking about how I could live with them or quit my (professional level) job to help with their business. Nope, that's creepy. Another was basically unemployed and living with his parents because of anger management issues that had forced him out of gainful employment and respectable housing situations. Hard pass. The last was the one good date - I like him a lot, but we lived on opposite edges of Chicagoland and it was very difficult to meet up, so after a few tries, I said maybe not. 4 and a half years, 4 dates. 1 date a year for thousands of dollars down. None were real good fits. I don't know how to make it clearer. Complaints garner attention for a week or two, promises to do better, and then nothing, so they are just continuing to steal my money. They won't give a cent back, so instead, I'm hoping this persuades enough people to not let them manipulate them into their scam so they'll lose more money that way than if they had just refunded my money. I searched out and found Chicagoland Singles after a few years of shallow, impersonal dating on match.com, OKCupid, a dozen apps and even some questionable dating resources. CLS (Chicagoland Singles) initial process was commendable, detailed and not for the faint of hearts. I was looking for a serious relationship that would lead to marriage. This company commits to you FOR LIFE, if you do not find a match right away you are there until you do (this was a big one for me). The profiles are very upfront and honest, the cost commitment determined how serious you were about what you wanted (which weeds out the "game"), the pictures and videos brought everyone to and equal level (no pictures of big events or pictures to brag)...just people being people. Thanks to the staff, shout out to Nikki, for the help and the work put into to helping me meet the woman of my dreams. DO NOT USE THEY ARE A SCAM! Last year in 2019 in the middle of April I got a phone call from a company. They were inviting me to talk. I'm not sure how they found my phone number. I came to the interview and I spoke with Teresa for almost 2 hours. I didn't sign anything on the first visit. Then they called me again and in August I got another phone call and I thought it was a different company calling. When I was driving there I realized I came to the same company. Teresa again starts talking to me for 2 hours and even though I did not want to sign anything she said she would give me 50 percent off from regular price and I signed a contract on the same day. At the same time, she clearly told me I can meet 2 or 3 gentlemen every month. She basically pushed me into signing a contract that same day. I didn't even get a chance to look at all parts of the contract after 2 hours talking with Chicagoland singles. When I told them I'm available but I heard only silence from them over the next few months. Online I chose a few gentlemen but again I got no response at all. I called them literally 5 or 6 times. Finally, Sam answered me and I was really upset this time and by this point, almost 1.5 months had passed. Sam said I'm responding too quickly. He said he's working on my cause. Again there was silence for months and months and almost 3 months had gone by. Sam answered the phone and said that they sent me an email that I never received. The only thing that the company did was called me asking for money because I changed my account as soon I realized I was not getting any service from them. They are cannot take out money anymore. I paid 3 or 4 payment until December 2019. During those 3 months, I didn't have any 1 reply. No one responded to me. Only Sam promise me he was working my case very hard but never called me back. The only 2 phone calls were made asking me for money. One worker blamed me saying I didn't respond to the email that I never received. I called them numerous times requesting to talk to the manager but no called me back. One time I called them to request my copy of my contract and Sam hung up on me. I paid for a service I did not receive and they only blamed me. I need my money back and plus damages they caused me. They would not even give me a copy of my contract when I asked. Here's why: I put my information in hoping to hear what they offered. within a day, they started calling me. They continued to call me almost daily. red flag. They demanded I needed to be in person. 2nd red flag. Refused to tell me the pricing over the phone citing a state law that doesn't exist. Huge Huge HUGE red flag. They kept calling me almost every week. Do you want to get out and finally meet somone special! Then Told me I should come in to look at some of their members. Red flag. Getting you in the door is sales 101. It seems every review site has countless similar negative reviews, including an investigation by CBS in 2012. They aren't real matchmaker. I like this service because they do background checks on everyone who signs up so there are absolutely no felons or anyone with domestic violence history, and that's something that most dating company's will not do. I will try and keep this brief. - Beware of this company and their practices. Back in January of 2019 I signed up with Chicagoland singles. A couple weeks after I joined I had a severe heart attack. (So my main focus was my recovery). Anyway I contacted Chicagoland singles wanting to terminate my membership because trying to find someone was no longer on my agenda. And they told me that I signed a contract and that was it. So there will be no refund or partial credit - nothing! So since I did indeed sign a contract I resigned myself to the fact that I just lost several thousand dollars. A few months went buy and all of a sudden $29.95 was being withdrawn out of my account. I called Chicagoland Singles. They told me that was the monthly fee for accessing their database etc.. It never got to the point where I even got a login from them. Nor was I interested. My profile was not even complete. (My recovery was my only concern). Again I tried to terminate my membership because of health issues. Keeping in mind my profile was never completed. Never used their site etc.. (Did not even have a login). - Nothing. I contacted Nell Several times during 2019. Attempting to put a stop to the $29.95 monthly charge. And was told that there was nothing she could do to put a stop to that, but she would pass my complaints etc. over to Tracey because she was the director. I called a few more times and finally Nell told me that her and Tracey were going to have a meeting about my account etc. . I was told Tracey would be contacting me... Well that never happened. So I called a few more times and whomever answered the phone said they would pass along the message... Well guess what.. No one contacted me... They are very careful not to say anything in any written communication. And will only tell you that they will get pass along the info, issue, complaint etc.. On 1/23/20 right after another $29.95 was taken out of my account, I called and this time got Nell again. She told me that she would put my request for account termination thru, as soon as they receive a formal request via email for account cancellation. OK. Did that... No one contacted me.. Now here we are another month later and $29.95 was charged. This time when I called I spoke to a "Paula". I told her about my issues, and got an immediate tough shit attitude and she was quite rude. She also said there was nothing that could be done about that $29.95 fee. Told me to submit the account cancellation request thru email just like Nell did. "Paula said to me that I should hear from Tracey either Monday or Tuesday in regards to my cancellation request. (Still getting the run around). Bottom line - If my account does not get cancelled Monday or Tuesday and this monthly $29.95 charge stopped. I will retain a lawyer and pursue legal action against them. Meanwhile I am on a campaign to do what ever I can to discourage anyone from doing business with Chicagoland Singles. I have even contacted NBC TV regarding their business tactics. read more

I was interested in a cruise, and someone contacted me to come in for an interview. I did, filled out a basic questionaire, but skipped the personal info like birthdate and SSN and signed the form. MISTAKE. I handed it in and specifically told the receptionist, Linda, that I didn't want any personal information nor the background/credit check unless I decided to join. I spent about 90 minutes with Tracy, who asked for ID, 2nd MISTAKE. I think she copied down my drivers license number. I opted out of spending $8 grand to join and thought that was the end of it. 2 days later, they ran a credit check on me. I called, another receptionist wasn't sure, put me on hold, talked to someone, then came back and said I signed the form so it was legal, but a director would call me back. I still don't know how they ran a credit check without a SSN and possibly no birth date. They never called back, ran a credit check for no legitimate reason. This is not ok. If you are thinking about using them. Do not sign the form, do not let them copy any information down from IDs. They have to have some other nefarious reason to do the credit check -- are they selling the information? I wish I would have read these reviews first. read more

No they are not match makers they just call or text when someone complains there is no response from me. I checked the site and have declined every single one. None were even close to being interesting. When I first signed up I attended a couple of social events and they were a bust. There are others that may be of possible interest but of course they are on the far north side. You know, close to where the "match makers" live. Why wouldn't they plan anything further away from their location? Without optimism of meeting someone of interest, why would I drive an hour one way to be disappointed again. Despite talking up their 'background check', after signing, I could see no evidence of a check beyond a credit check, which is extremely concerning for a single mother. I tried to cancel repeatedly within the 3 day contractual cancellation window of being given access to their database, since it was immediately clear that there could be no reasonable match, and they repeatedly, and alternately pleadingly and rudely, refused. Stick with OKCupid or Match.com, at least you know what you are getting. read more

Chicagoland Singles took advantage of my mother's vulnerability when she inquired about their services. She is elderly and they applied high pressure sales tactics when they got her to come in to their office. She is on a fixed income and when they revealed their fees were $6,995, she indicated that's a lot of money and that she should check with her children. They told her not to tell them and got her to sign their contract. They learned of her available credit on 3 different credit cards just so they could find a way to get to charge her the $6,995. A few days later, before she received any services, she notified them verbally and in writing that she wished to cancel. They refused and have challenged disputes with credit card companies, so we will be taking them to court. Do not use this service! read more

While she side-stepped many of my questions related to pricing (I asked for a high/low and an average number of active members in their data base), I thought perhaps I may go in for the consultation. As with any venture that may end up costing a large fee as evidenced by her unwillingness to answer my questions, I chose to do some further due diligence before my "appointment". After reviewing the very helpful reviews on this site as well as the rating through the BBB, along with reading the full complaints, I will NOT be pursuing this organization.
