It was a great time. Except make sure you're up for walking a lot. Nonetheless, I went here for the first time for the NASCAR EERO race. Day of race the usual parking was too muddy so they funneled everyone to a dirt track parking across the street. However, across the street, I found a paid parking $20 cash, which saved the headache of the line of cars to and likely after the event. Prior to this, the parking situation already caused a two hour delay on the backroads there, meaning I arrived practically there and the last two miles took almost two hours, such a crawl. Regardless, my point being, plan ahead. I made it in time for the event so that was good. Anyway, the event itself was fun. The speedway is huge, and a ton of vendors stretching across the ground level in both directions. Plenty of food options and merch vendors. In the grandstands, I sat within the first 30 rows, which was great. Post race I did explore the length of the stands and it seems like really any view is great. I brought 3M earmuffs, and glad I did. I value my hearing and thus still enjoyed the event while protecting my hearing. The only thing I couldn't hear well through the earmuffs was the commentary yet I don't care much for that anyway, in exchange for enjoying the rest of the event. Overall fun event, and well run operation. They had shuttle buses help get people to and from that overflow parking lot. read more

We came for the Camping World 400 race this year. This was our second time we have came for the NASCAR race held at Chicogland Speedway. Both times we camped in tents and had hot passes. We had a great time even though the weather was on the crazy hot side. We really enjoyed having Joyride there this year. The last time we went this was not an option and the bus rides were hot and long. I think all races if they don't have them now should do this. The camp sites were fine, the only down side was that it was so hot it would have been nice to have the option to shower in the middle of the day. The shower hours were 6am-12pm and 6pm-12am. We had wonderful neighbors and it was not loud in the camp area past 11 or so. The negative side of having a Hot pass are that there is no shade or barely shade to hide from the sun when you are in the infield. We did find a tent that had some AC but you could not see the race or pits from this area. Second negative thing is there is only ONE place to get food from if you are in the infield. Many other tracks have a larger selection of food to choose from. The line for food was extremely long. read more

VROOOOM! The cars go by at incredible speeds. The grounds look like a third world country with flags flying, and tents, campers, trucks and cars parked for as far as the eye can see. And on this NASCAR weekend, there were tons of stands and booths where you can do just about anything from checking out engines to drinking beer in a beer garden, to listening to music. The Chicagoland Speedway was quite the experience for the neophyte race fan that I am. I had no idea what to expect- but it turned out to me more in many ways. More people, more noise, more stairs and even more women's bathrooms than I would have ever imagined. Some of the "mores" were good. Some were not. Like the "more pricey" than you would expect. I guess they have to make their money somehow given there is not something going on at the track each weekend. Beers were $7, a corn dog, fries and chicken tenders ran about $20 and the food is mediocre at best inside the park. Or how about the parking? It needed "more signage". Seriously. You are parked on a grassy field. No signs. No markers. No way to find your car in the sea of cars so be sure to pick a landmark on the stadium (in our case- we were parked at least a half a mile away) And stumbling around in the dark to find the car was the biggest adventure of the night! Here's a seating tip. The better seats are higher up. I was surprised that we were climbing so many stairs to get to our sponsor seats. "This can't be good", I thought. But I was wrong. For up high- you can see the entire track and watch the action every where, not just the section of the track that is before you. Know that these are all bleacher seats (with backs), 75,000 to be exact, but you may want to bring something soft to sit on as the benches get pretty hard as the night wears on. And when the sun sets and the lights come on is even a better moment. For under the bright lights- the cars go all "sparkly" and as the cool winds blow at your back, you are for a moment a race fan. My advice? Bring earplugs for auto racing is LOUD! (I am still having a hard time hearing and am hoarse from shouting) and bring your patience for getting in and out of the track. Trust me- the roads around here are not made for the 100,000 race fans that show up for these big races. Pack a cooler, a couple of lawn chairs and wait for the crowds to disperse or you'll be sitting in traffic for hours. I doubt I'll ever become a bona fide race aficionado, but for this one Summer's night, as the cars raced around the track, the thrill of the race rang in my ears. My bff and I came here for the black light slide a few weeks ago. They only had 2 inflatable slides and each inflatable slide had 4 slides, but it was a million and a half people trying to slide. We waited in line for 45 minutes for just 1 slide ride and got eaten alive by mosquitoes. There were no lockers, so we had to run to the car for towels and to sit down. We had to buy the tube to ride on the slide with ($10), my bff had to buy the plastic pouch to put her car keys in, so they did not get wet ($10), parking ($10). They had no drinking water, only complimentary Sparkling ICE beverages. We had to buy the ticket to attend the slide ride event ($25?). I will definitely NOT be back!!!! read more

Not very friendly around here. No one at information booths. As with all big race tracks the food is over priced. The seating attendeds are helpful and polite but that's all they know about. The public address system is inadequate. The venders out front are helpful. No cooling rooms are visible or found as the temperature was over 90. Traffic management is horrible. All in all if I had to pay, I wouldn't. read more

My first ever time being there was last years Overton 300. As a NASCAR fan I really enjoyed being at Chicagoland Speedway. The best part was going into the infield and meeting drivers and Sitting second row grandstand during the Overton 300 Race. I will be going again this year to Gander Outdoor 300. I defiantly recommend this place to NASCAR racing fans to attend a race. read more

One of Joliet's seemingly best kept secrets is the Rockett Brand Racing Fuel ET Bracket Series at Route 66 Raceway. There is something for every race fan, even those of us who prefer "Ovals!" Lots of great local talent from high schoolers to seasoned "old timers!" Racing everything from snow mobiles, motorcycles, stock, pro-stock and dragsters. It's a fun series and a enjoyable way spend the day at the track. read more

I'm kinda torn about the Chicagoland Speedway. On one hand it's just a bunch of cars driving around really fast. But on the other hand, well, I got nothin'. As race tracks go it's clean, decent food options, clean restrooms, and a good view from any seat (looks that way at least, I didn't actually try *every* seat). Why only 3 stars then? The parking is strangely far from the track, the security people effectively stole my brothers swiss army knife, and it's kinda pricey for tickets. If you enjoy watching nascar then you'll most likely have fun at Chicagoland Speedway. If you don't like watching nascar then why are you reading this review? read more

Stay away. They charge you $8 to print out your own tickets. If you want to buy a parking pass, you are forced to go to Will Call; and, they charge an $18 fee for Will Call. Joliet pd and parking attendence said we couldn't park in our designated parking so we had to park in Lot B NOW they are parking in Lot A probably to whoever can't find a parking spot. Second time I've come for NASCAR weekend and had ablast with my NASCAR buddy Lin. The only change I would make is to please please please have more vegetarian options in the food stalls! Though really tasty...I got tired of corn and fries after two days @_@ God Bless the Conway's lemonade stand. Now that I think about it, you could lower the prices a little too... $6 for a lemonade... $7 for fries... that could definitely be worked on guys, it's not like you don't make any money off the other purchases we do all weekend. read more

Second update: I was able to scour the internet and found a package that works for us, and called the supervisor to book it. Again, gone are the days where they offered packages that would fit our needs best. However, booking was a simple process and appreciated the assistance. Averaging out my prior 5-star experience and 1-star experience, this is now a 3-star review. Unfortunately I have to update my review. I purchase tickets for my son and our extended family to go to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase each year, and it's always been a pleasant experience. The prior staff had been extremely helpful and used to help me choose the best packages for my needs. However, it appears that the staff had turned over, and now with a girl that started working there since June that replaced Lisa and another supervisor that replaced Chris. All I got was attitude from the new girl, and while the supervisor tried to help, everything is run differently this year. The only package they have is run through Groupon and they don't even assign you seats when you purchase - you'll find out after you've paid and get mailed tickets. Looks like we'll be purchasing everything separately this year just so we can choose our seats and paying double what we had in the past. After this experience, this is going to our last year attending. 1-star. read more

Worst experience ever this year 2019! Racetrack is going down hill! Don't bother asking anyone for help or for that matter no one would notice if you needed help. Information booths are a joke, I had a girl tell me that she only sells programs and was happy to tell she had no clue why she was in the information booth. We paid extra for turn 4 parking and then had to walk through the carnival and 1/2 around the park. What was the point of the extra $75. Don't get me started on $8 bottles of water? I also bought all you can eat and then they didn't have it... that was a day at the races $700.00. 2 weeks before $2000.00 for my husband to drive a racecar and the treatment was horrible. They made him pull in repeatedly to try to get him out of the car, I purchased the World Champion a d what a joke. Chicagoland park has no customer service! If you drop dead they will step over you and keep going. I will never spend another penny of time or money. People forget the same people that elevate you can bring you down! read more

What a great venue for a race! There's a lot that I like about this track. It's very easy to get to from Chicago(by car - I don't know about public transportation). From most of the seats, you can see the entire track. There are plenty of restrooms and concession stands - though the prices are absolutely ridiculous! $4 for a pretzel or a bottle of soda? And they don't let you bring anything in except a single bottle of water. My only other complaint is getting out of the parking area after a race - traffic is horrible. So, take your time leaving the race. Relax out by your car with some snacks and beverages. Before you know it, the lot will be clear and you'll be on your way. Oh, and don't forget the earplugs, as it's a small track and very loud! Update 7/16: I think that they need to come up with some sort of plan for getting all of the cars out of the parking lot after an event. That, and maybe provide some sort of traffic training for the Joliet Police, who were severely confused by all of the cars and chaos. Maybe hire professionals to direct traffic? Just a suggestion. 200Mph. Trading paint. The smells and noise. Wow. Unreal. Seating from anywhere is great. Before the race, amazing food, not just hot dogs and burgers. Denny Hamlin crashes, comes back and wins it. The chace starts here. In Joliet. You bet I will back. Why not? Denny can do it again? He won in Daytona. Perfect weather for a race. Looks great on tv but even better in person. I may not be the biggest car fan but my 15 year old son is. We come here once in a while so he can watch the cars race around. He loves it. I go because it is a good time to spend with my son which is really nice because we don't always have much time for just spending time together. If you like racing I would definitely come because it is a good place to watch races. read more

I am not exactly sure how to review a race track. My experience here was pretty amazing, I had a absolute blast at the NASCAR Geico 400. Everything was clean and presentable, the grass was all cut and they took customers into consideration when it came to washrooms and even placed hand washing stations by them. I am not a fan of porta-potties (who is?) but they made sure they were cleaned every couple hours. There is lots of walking involved, so be sure to bring your proper shoes, don't wear flip flops the whole weekend like I did. I can't wait to be back next year! read more

Chicagoland Speedway is a great facility with outstanding customer service, particularly with regards to addressing fan needs. Since the track will allow small, soft-sided coolers into the stands starting this season, the complaints about the overpriced beer will likely cease. While the tickets are pricey compared to Michigan International Speedway, you can't beat the location. The track itself has come into its own over the past decade, with multiple racing grooves. You aren't going to mistake a NASCAR Cup race here for Bristol or even Texas, but the on-track action has steadily improved. Here's where I would normally insert my complaint about Chicagoland dropping their IndyCar race for 2011, but I'm led to believe that the track and series are doing whatever they can to reconcile and get the Chicagoland Indy 300 back on the schedule for 2012, in which case, they will then earn back the star I deducted for losing the thrilling IndyCar date. read more

This track cannot handle crowds, the traffic is horrendous with larger crowds and its just hard to move around. But this year (2011), the rain issues with the first Chase race really showed the ineptness of this track and Nascar in general. All day until 7 P.M. we were left wondering if we would race today for a race originally scheduled at 1 P.M. The prices here are also crazy for tickets, pop, beer and water, just not worth it. Will stick to my fave short track racing Friday nights at Grundy County Fairgrounds in Morris. read more

I came here for the Nascar race and it was my first time at the Speedway. The track itself and the stands and concourse are not bad. You have to trek up a lot of stairs if you're sitting in the upper section. Food options are what you'd expect for this kind of venue. The parking was the main reason I gave it 3 stars. There lots are so far away you need to take a bus to get to the track, literally. Now parking is free, so that's a plus, but you have to get there really early because it could take about 30 to 45 minutes to park and actually get inside. read more

Attended the Nationwide race here on 9/17/11, what a blast. It was my first NASCAR race ever and Chicagoland Speedway didn't disappoint. We had a suite, the service, food and staff - all excellent. Bring your ear protection (or splurge for the headphones so you can listen to the driver, spotter and pit crew!) because it's LOUD. Really caught me off guard to how loud it was. read more

Scored some free tickets to a Bush Race and it is a nice track. had pit pass and was nice to get up close and see the cars and drivers. Decent seats all around. It was ot too crowded for this race so we were able to sample various seating arrangements. Beverages were not overpriced like other venues. The race itself was ok. Once the leaders got out in front it pretty much stayed that way. Spread out and no crashes, Not bad at all for seeing the race and having a good time. read more

It's hard to rate a race track when I have never been to one before. All I know it that it's crazy - yummy bad for you food, lots of beer and frozen mixed drinks, and of course it's loud loud LOUD. I was actually here not for a race, but a music festival: the Electric Daisy Carnival. The festival was fantastic, and the speedway is a decent venue for it mainly for it's sheer size. During rain, though, it gets muddy, and there are no bathrooms or coverings for the weather of any sort, so it could be better; but it's built for races, for which purpose I'm sure it's well suited. read more

I'm a die hard Nascar fan and I have to say Chicagoland Speedway use to be the best place to watch a race.... Well I take back my review and tell you this place hasen't a f*****n clue. First off they've had the first playoff race since 2011 till little or no success on the fan front.... we've been asking for a night race since then and still even in 2020, Nascar just put out that schedule it's not a night race..... Last year was 110 degrees the whole weekend. They dont listen to the fans, security treats you like your a terrorist, they don't offer much of anything in terms of being a season ticket holder I was for multiple years... Ever since Scott Paddock took over it's a s***t scene. in 2015 they wanted us to watch practice from outside the speedway even though we paid for camping and tickets the whole weekend. Las Vegas Motor Speedway took away are playoff race in September in 2018.... It was hot in Vegas so this year 2019 it was changed to a night race.... Chicagoland Speedway lies and I rode with this for a while saying the reason the cup race isnt a night race isnt are decision it's the networks///// WELL how did Vegas change in one year???? Getting out of the speedway after the race is nightmare the whole weekend isn't fun at all.... Stay away stay far away from this crap hole........ been going since 2003 so...... yeah read more

Sure the footlong corn dogs & beer are pricey - but no more than if you went to a baseball game or basketball game! Seriously, the place isn't bad at all. I was there for indy car and I really enjoyed myself. The parking is FREE!!! And there were no lines for the ladies room (or the men's) and the bathrooms were clean. What more can a girl really ask for? The only thing that sucked were the ticket prices -- I don't like indy car enough to play those prices but I got freebie tix so paying $6 for a bottle of beer wasn't too terrible. Still I could see how it could add up if you're already shelling out $150 for tickets. read more

Had a blast at the drag way with the family! They have a wide selection of food and drinks for all. There are a ton of activities for children and adults to do between races which is nice. The only thing I didn't like was seeing a woman with a small infant at the starting line. I can't believe someone would be allowed to bring such a small baby into the grand stands with the sounds the engines have! I was looking for. Police officer or an employee to report her to but I could not find one. Hopefully someone else was able to report her. Other than that I highly recommend Route 66 Speedway to all. read more

The race is great but the drive in and out is a nightmare. The police do not direct traffic but funnel it out of joliet to Ellwood. Parking is bad as car are put so close that doors hit. The bathrooms are far between and not kept clean during the race. read more

Chicagoland Speedway is pretty nice, but its in joliet (thats a bad thing) and joliet is not the nicest area. (lots of trailer parks and rednecks) But hey, thats pretty usual for NASCAR right? Also, bring ur own food, cause its pretty expensive here. And last, the parking is terrible. Try to park ur car next to some landmark so u can find it. Other then that, the speedway brings lots of good racing, and if u sit higher up, u get a great view of the track. Recomended. read more
