Came here with family but would definitely come back with my partner on our own. We enjoyed our time at the farm. There were plenty of places for photo ops, a little haunted house, little kiddy rides that although the lines are long, they move pretty fast, pig races, and hay rides. There are plenty of food options. Everyone in our party was an adult and we had a lot of fun. Especially walking in the corn box! That was an experience. We bought our tickets online so it was a with entry but you can buy tickets there. The petting zoo was my favorite part! The animals are so friendly. I wish they were in better conditions though.

We always love Bengtsons! Our 3 year old always looks forward to the dancing/talking chickens and pumpkin. He also loves the tractor ride, rooster/chicken one, frog and bee ones, and train. Other favorites include the animals, the pumpkin cannon at the beginning of the tractor hay ride, corn pit, and the spots to take pictures with your face in the hole. You could easily spend over 4 hours here and not hit everything. Fun for the whole family- Well worth the money!

Bengtson's fall fest was amazing! It felt like more of a theme park than a farm. Don't sleep on the apple cider shake-up which comes with an apple cider donut! The donut wasn't too sweet, and the apple cider shake is actually a frozen drink with a layer of vanilla soft serve in the middle which makes it taste like a delicious apple creamsicle! There's a stand to order right by the hayrack ride. It was worth the $11. My partner had to run away from a bee that was chomping on the donut which I found hilarious. That's how it is on the farm. When we arrived around 11am on a weekend there were plenty of free parking spots with attendants there to direct you. It's a few minutes walk to the entrance and we didn't need to wait much once we got to the check-in area. It was $40 per person which wasn't too bad since all the rides are included. We got uncle bub's BBQ chili cheese fries and brisket sandwich which were both delicious and came out really fast! Once you pay you just stay up there and the food comes out quick. We took our trays to the seating area where there was a live music performer who was doing really nice covers of classic songs! It was a great start to the day. There were workers that were routinely cleaning the tables as spots opened up which I appreciated. My favorite was the petting zoo. There was a main one which had a long line but we went to the small one which had no line and plenty of goats and some alpacas! Bring $5 cash to get a cup of sliced carrots to feed them. The goats were a bit aggressive but the alpaca was very gentle and friendly. The lines for food and rides weren't too bad when we got in, but crowds quickly grew later in the day. I definitely recommend coming around 10 or 11 to avoid some of the crowds. The swing ride and barrel ride were really fun. We got to see the pumpkin chucker during the tractor pulled hayride. We picked up some small gourds and bought some fresh churros on our way out. They're cooked in beef tallow so it was extra delicious. For the rides if you have small children you should check with the attendant for height restrictions. I saw some people waited in line only to be turned back because their kids weren't tall enough. The restroom situation is all portapotties but they did have actual hand washing stations outside. A lot of the soap dispensers weren't working but usually you could find one that worked or just push really hard on the dispense button. I can see why many people come here as a family tradition, and I'm excited to come back next year!

Bengtson's Pumpkin Fest was such a fun fall adventure! Parking was easy, the staff were super friendly, and the park was clean and well-maintained which made wandering around even more enjoyable. The food and beverage options were great including the apple cider slushy. The pumpkins were plump and picture-perfect for carving or decorating. Their animal area's are super clean and bright filled with friendly alpacas, sheep, goats, cows, and chickens. If I had to nitpick, the entry cost felt a bit steep, and the park could use a few more attractions to make the experience last longer. Still, those small things didn't take away from the overall charm and I'd definitely go back again next year!

I feel like this is a place that everybody should go at least once! Even though it can get pricey at $30 a person for the entrance tickets + an extra $20-$30 per person for the cost of food if you get a meal and snacks, I feel like the overall experience is worth the price! Especially so if you have little kids because there are so many family friendly activities throughout the farm! My favorite activities of the day were the mini-rides, the giant dried corn pit, the live music at the lunch pavilion, and the petting zoo (where you can feed the animals for an extra $5). My favorite food items of the day were the roasted buttered sweet corn, the warm cinnamon pretzels from the Auntie Anne's food trunk, the chicken tenders and the chili cheese dog! We also tried the cheeseburger, Mac and Cheese with brisket, the steak tacos, the apple cider donuts and felt like these items were all more standard. Overall you can easily spend a good 3-4 hours here enjoying the different activities and trying out different food items. You can get a stamp on your wrist to re-enter the farm on the same day later in the day. Definitely worth checking out!

Here's a picture of my happy boy on the swing!

We had an amazing experience at Bengston's. I have a 3 year old son with profound autism. When we first got there, I took my son to the first ride and he did not tolerate more than 30 seconds of standing in a line. My heart broke for him as I wanted him to have the same experience as his 5 year old sister. While dealing with a meltdown, I asked a nearby booth if they offered accommodations for special needs children. We were directed back the admissions building. I spoke to a very nice worker who had me fill out an application, present his IEP, and we were given special accommodations. We were able to go on every ride immediately and forgo the line. We did not take advantage of these accommodations and went on every ride only one time. But this made my 3 year old feel included and able to enjoy the rides without the meltdown in a line prior to going on every ride. I am so grateful to the staff for being so sweet and accommodating when I presented our special wristbands. And I am grateful to the patrons for understanding my special guy's needs. Thank you, thank you for the wonderful experience you made for my family. Check out the biggest smile of my happiest boy.

Halloween Disney. I'm sure this place is held in fond memories for a lot of folks, but it is a lot. We arrived about 15 minutes before they opened, on a Friday. Before the clock struck 11 (opening), there were hundreds of cars and hundreds of people in line to get in. It took about 30 minutes for the line to cease to be a line (when you could then just walk into the entrance and someone could help you almost immediately). Beth is the person who let us in and she was really rude. She asked how many in my party and I told her two; then she asked how old the kiddo is and if I bought a ticket for the babe to which I said no since she's under two years old and is free, and she said well that's why I asked how many are in your party, so I asked if she wanted to know how many tickets we bought... can you just be clear in your communication and not rude when people are confused by what you're asking? The folks we were here to meet had entered about five minutes before and were waiting for us inside, but had gone through the same line and also said she was rude. There's a lot here, perhaps too much if you're easily overstimulated. I could not imagine visiting on a weekend day. But not a ton of this was stuff that our kids could do, because they're both under 18 months and most of it is geared toward older children. There are at least half a dozen rides, and it's nice that they're free since it costs $27+ (in 2024) to enter. There are animals around (we saw some cows, a pony, goats, piglets...). There's a little hut where you can take a complimentary photo and have it sent to your phone via SMS. We saw a booth for face painting, and there's a place where you can kind of pan for treasure (not gold)--you buy a bag of dirt, of which there are four different options, and then get some goodies. They have pig races, which take place on the hour and was fun (plan for about 20 minutes from start to finish). There's a general store which is not at all ADA accessible or stroller friendly; there's about 10 steps to enter. There's a hayride and maybe the animals situated throughout the park aren't the petting zoo but it's in another area of the place, in which strollers are not permitted so we couldn't visit. There's a corn pit where kids can play around, and that would have been fun but my kid is young enough that she still puts everything in her mouth so next year, maybe. There's a playground, but we didn't go in there since ours are still learning to walk. The pumpkin patch was disappointing, to say the least. What they call the patch is a section of field where they've placed a bunch of pumpkins. You're not in an actual pumpkin patch, where they grow. There are a couple small tractors here, some picnic tables, some backgrounds to take photos with. There are some backgrounds and photo cut-outs scattered throughout the rest of the park as well. There are a lot of food booths from which to choose. You can find barbecue, pizza, apple cider donuts, alcohol, beverages, pretzels, tacos, and more. The loaded chicken elote was pretty good and something--perhaps the pizza--smelled delicious. I'm not sure if they allow you to bring food in or just don't question it, but I brought some food for my little one because she's somewhat picky at the moment (and is of the age where whole milk is a staple of her diet, but they don't have that here) and I needed to be sure she'd eat, but she gobbled the elote down too. It's pretty gross to me that they only have port-a-potties here. There's no way you could convince me that with the number of people they have here in a single month--hell, even a couple weekends in October or summer--they don't have the money to put in flush toilets. They have a sink-like thing near the portable toilets so at least that's good, but the portables gross me out... and some of them are sitting on an angle. I can't say we won't be back. You couldn't pay me to visit on a weekend though, and I might select a day earlier in the week than Friday next time. But I'm not sure if I'll come back for a year or two... it depends upon whether my daughter grows 7 inches in the next year because I know at least some of the rides had a 39" minimum. If not for my friend wanting to go, I would not have wanted to go this year because there just isn't much for children under 3 or so to do here, and it's not a place I needed to go for my own amusement.

Bengtson's is officially open for Summerfest! This is the first summer they are offering programming from Friday, June 14-August 4. It is cheaper, less crowded, and just as much fun! We arrived right when it opened at 11am and went straight to see what they had for morning snacks. They have a strawberry donut instead of the apple cider donut...it was so scrumptious! You can also get it in a shake, but we weren't prepared for that big of a snack yet! Next we were off to the cow spinning ride, which is fun for adults, too! We rode twice and the second time was extra spinny sitting in the back. Special shout-out for the staff letting us ride twice in a row since it was slow! Our other favorite ride is the airplane spinning swing. Once again the fabulous staff let us stay on for a second ride since it was slow. So fun and a great view of the entire farm and surrounding area. Next we were off to a huge crowd pleaser: the Pig Races! During Saturdays at summerfest, the pig races happen at noon and 3pm. Since this is such a riot of fun, be sure to plan your day accordingly! Lunch time is always a highlight at Bengston's! We got the Summerfest kolsch ale from the Tipsy Cow (a delicious beer made in collaboration with Skeleton Key Brewery). We got lunch from our favorite food spot: Rustic Knead. We get the El Ranch roast beef and the Caprese sandwiches and share them. So yummy, fresh, and refreshing! Chips are always a great pairing! Other highlights: hay rack ride, petting zoo (with lots of babies this time of year), Photo Booth, Happy Camper coffee stand, candles at the gift shop, and kettle corn to go! We packed all of this in before it started heating up later in the afternoon. All this to say, if you enjoy Bengtson's, don't miss out on this awesome opportunity to experience it over the summer. You won't be disappointed! We hope to go back at least one more time before the Summerfest season ends!

We go yearly, since the early 90's. This place is a staple for Halloween lovers. And summer fest was fun too. Prices are kind of wild, but considering they have lots more to do, once you pay everything but food, gift shop stuff & pumpkins is free (& the mining thing costs too). Over all it's a good way to spend the day and make memories & new traditions.

Such a fun fall outing for family. There is something fun to do for all ages. I will say that this might be easier to with children 4 and older. You can spend an entire day there. For a toddler they might get impatient waiting in lines and the crowds can get overwhelming - maybe go on a weekday that is less busy if going with toddlers. But highly recommend- the train ride and hay ride. There is also a playground. There is tons of options for food but again if going with a toddler plan to hit lunch spots a little before lunch rush. The pizza was so fresh and tasty. The cider donuts were fully and perfectly sweet and spiced. There are tons of fresh ciders and ale options as well. We didn't get to try the bbq place but it smelled divine and really good. The pig race was a quick fun watch. There is a booth for a free family photo session as well - the line moved really quick.

I really liked this place, so many rides that are included in the gate price. It's such a good value instead of the individual tickets at other places. They have a lot of rides for the kids and the food was very good too! The donuts were a standout. The staff were very friendly and kept a very clean park. Petting zoo and pumpkin, they have everything.

I honestly didn't expect to have this much fun at Bengtson's Pumpkin Fest! They had great food and lots of activities for the kids and family. Our favorite activity was the gem mining and the pig race that happens every hour. Their food was super yummy, you gotta try their hot Apple cider and Chili Mac! Overall an amazing experience.

Pig race happens at the top of every hour

Bengtson's Pumpkin Fest Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Bengtson's Pumpkin Fest

    Are dogs allowed?

No they are not. It is not a place for pets anyways. Crowds, carnival rides, farm animals, etc. I would never even think to bring a dog.

What is the price of admission for two adults and one three year old?

The price each day if different. Prices for all guests 23 months and older are the same each day. A full calendar can be found on our website that shows the ticket price for each day https://pumpkinfarm.com/park-hours-admission-rates/

Does the farm operate the rest of the year (outside of mid September-October)? What happens during the off season?

Currently the farm is only open to the public during the Fall Festival dates. Over the past few years we have extended our season further into the early Fall season to accommodate the increasing number of families who choose to make Bengtson's Farm… Read more

Is there a place to purchase the apple cider donuts without buying a ticket?

Yes of course!! You may approach the exit side of our main entrance/exit barn and purchase them from one of the exit checkout areas anytime of any day. Thank you for the support.

Do we have to book a visit or can we just go like that?

If the farm has enough visitors to exceed the limited capacity we will begin to turn away guests that have not purchased online tickets. This has not happened on a weekday yet.

Is everything still open even on the week days? Has anyone gone more towards the evening?

Yes, all weekend attractions are open during the week. Weekend food offerings are different, on Fridays and weekends our pizza & Sweet Corn are open, also the chuckwaggon and the bar are only open on weekends.

    Is there alcohol lol?

    Yep! I saw White Claws!

I heard Bengtson's is not following IL COVID protocols (e.g. limiting capacity, requiring masks, etc.). Is that true?

Correct, I was there last weekend & only some people wore masks but no social distancing was being enforced. I don't remember if masks were required to enter but if they were, people obviously removed them once inside & no one seemed to enforce that… Read more

    Do they got apple picking?

We do not currently offer an apple picking experience.

Do the attractions close at the same time the pumpkin fest does, or do they go all evening?

All the attractions close at the closing time listed for each day. The last tractor pulled wagon ride leaves 15 minutes before the scheduled closing time. The last pig race is 1 hour before close.

What are the height requirements for the rides?

Each ride has its own height restrictions. All of our rides are family oriented and most can be enjoyed while accompanied by an adult. You will find specific info on each ride here. https://pumpkinfarm.com/attractions/

    Is there a corn maze?

They made a lot of changes there since last year. The corn maze is gone but now there's a bunch of different places to eat in its place.

To me, dunking on a small business is usually 'no bueno', but after two visits to Johansen's fall petting zoo I find myself wondering "THIS is what we paid for??" Very few things are truly free these days, and I get that, but admission to Johansen's does not fall in the realm of good value. Located along Boughton Rd in Bolingbrook, Johansen's is open during the spring/summer as a nursery and farm (April-July), during autumn as a pumpkin patch, and briefly in the winter to sell Christmas trees. On busy weekends in October, police have a lane blocked off to shepherd traffic in & out of the parking lot. On that note, parking is free, thankfully, as is walking around their pumpkin patch. I saw a review from 2017 - a mere seven years ago - that mentions admission was $13.50. It's nearly doubled since that time! $23 allows you to feed the goats, enjoy a small corn maze, hayride, a "train" (actually just a bumpy trailer pull with tiny, uncomfortable carriages), and rinky-dink mini golf. Kids have to be 42" to bounce on the myriad inflatables, however, anyone over 2yo is full price. How many 2-4 year olds have you met that are 42" tall?? Apart from Kareem Abdul Jabbar's kids, how about NONE. I'm sure Johansen's knows this, so they're screwing plenty of people with this sneaky little exploit. The pumpkin patch is nice; we found an orange specimen that was a solid 9/10, with everyone in my group agreeing it was the roundest and most picturesque gourd they'd seen in a long time. Apple cider donuts are decent and you can buy hot cider at their bake shop counter. * TL;DR * Johansen's fall festivities are cute, though you get shockingly little for the money. You'll have to pay full price for your 3-year-old, but due to height restrictions on their bouncy houses, they won't be able to go in. Adults aren't allowed on inflatables, ditto for the ponies. In fact, grown-ups will spend most of their time standing around, which I can do for free at home (or literally anywhere else). Oh, but don't despair, as you can join their fanclub for a whopping $1 off general admission! *sprays confetti* gee, thanks guys! My wife likes them because they're local, but sorry honey, I'm done-zo with Johansen's. We'll take our annual (free) picture on the hay bales, but if it's my money we're spending, next year we're making the trip to Bengtson's.

Following my Google review; the facility should just focus on family and child events because your…read moreadult easter egg hunt was a total bust! $25 for just general admission? Yikes! You'd think for that price, drinks or food would have been waived? nope! Not at all! The food trucks who were there, the employees should have bought from the trucks because who in their right mind is wanting to pay $4 for a small street taco?! Not only that, but the steak tacos were more like grissel tacos less filling and more expensive! I wound up throwing away my food and drink, thats how bad the food and drinks were! That whole event should have costed only $10! Not $25! Will not be going to another event like this from this specific farm again!

This place is pretty large with a lot to do! They have a couple of different playground areas, a small train, a giant corn maze, jumping pillows, a giant slide, plenty of animals. There are plenty of places for photo ops and they even have a couple of places where it will take your picture and send it to you via email or text. They have a sports area where you can throw various balls. We missed the dino outbreak earlier this year, but my son still enjoyed the dinosaur walk through. It'd be helpful if they had some brushes in the fossil digging area. I tried their apple caramel pie. It wasn't nearly as good as another local pumpkin farm (Johansen), but it was still tasty. I feel like we didn't even explore every area of the farm and we were still entertained for a few hours.

I go to the farm for pickup every week, and I love the variety, that I can pick and choose between over a dozen different herbs and veggies, the extras they often have, the UPick tomatoes and beans and etc. It's also such a relief to know where my food is coming from, that there are no chemical fertilizers or pesticides in it, that it's not downwind a feedlot so no chances of salmonella outbreaks in their leafy greens, that it hasn't been sprayed to ripen -- the peace of mind itself is invaluable. They have three seasons (spring, summer, and fall) that you can sign up for (that often sell out early, especially the summer season), as well as Thursday farmstands in the afternoon. Also, at the beginning of May they sell seedlings, with prices cheaper than The Growing Place, and most of the plants I buy from there thrive in my garden with no additions required (I put compost in the hole and around the base when I first plant them, mulch around the seedlings, and that's pretty much it, by mid-July I'm getting more tomatoes and basil and etc than I know what to do with).
