It's been several years since I've visited a dirt race track so this was quite an event! Everything about our visit was wonderful. The evening started st 1815 and was filled with fun until about 2230. Thir lineup included standard racing but also a powder puff race, demolition, and spectator races. went last night for motorcycle races , in 55 years of going to races it had to the be the worst event i have ever been to. most eveyone left including my group waiting for the main events , an hour just sitting no reason why , no track prep going on , what sucks the most is when u bring new people to events at this track and they mess up so bad that newbies dont ever want to go to the races again. read more

5/2021 Been here many times over the years. Great family place. Fun on the track is what it is about. I personally prefer the Saturday races. But Friday nights are great too. I made the demolition derby in May this year. Quite spectacular way to start the year off! Was a fun day and everyone enjoyed themselves. Social distancing is a bit awkward, but it is working. Place use to be fun and entertaining .....The bathrooms were absolutely filthy ,my husband used the men's bathroom it smelled like a giant urinating station . The bleachers seems dangerous with old wood ,everyone was heavy it's a ticking time bomb ..people were smoking in the stands. Made a trip out with the fam last night, my first time back in over 25 yrs. Not much has changed. SS is a different mode of entertainment and not for everyone. But if you haven't checked it out I'd encourage you to check this one off the bucket list. What you can expect to see here are time trials for the first hour or so, then maybe a dozen fast paced races with varying styles of cars. The end of the night usually features more unique races and caps off with a demolition derby. All in all you can get 4+ hrs of entertainment if you stay for the long haul. Ticket prices are fairly cheap at $12 adults/$5 kiddos. Concessions are nice and affordable too with a ballpark menu of drinks, beer and food to choose from (just not ballpark prices). You might want to bring a blanket as these are bleacher seats. If you plan to sit close your kiddos might want earbuds and if you're in the first couple of rows, I'd even suggest glasses, as debris comes a flyin off that track! Cheers read more

Let me explain: about an hour away, in a little town called Maple Park, is a clay racing track for racing cars and the demolition derby. That's right: amateur racing and demo derby! What's not to love? Anyone can do it. Just as long as you have a car that (I think) is no newer than 1992, bust out all of the windows except for the rear window and windshield, weld the doors shut and decorate it, you're all set! There's Powder Puff racing (the girls), Figure 8, Compact Car, Full Size Car and a few other races. And supposedly, if a car gets hit and does a 360, that driver gets a case of Old Style! This place is a fabulous bargain. My whole family loves coming here. Admission is beyond reasonable for an entire night of entertainment. The staff is always friendly. Seating is plentiful and convenient no matter what angle you like to watch from. The food is cheap $2 beers and hot dogs... Can't beat that. Way to cancel at the last minute when it isn't even raining. People drive from all over to come to your events to not even get notified via email or text is pretty bad. Get up to date with the technology to notify paying customers who buy these tickets in advance. I wouldve understood if it got cancelled due to weather if I had been notified. I greatly enjoy going to the Sycamore Speedway with my husband- he absolutely loves the races, and raced himself here when he was younger. There are a few great things about the Speedway, the first being that it is fairly inexpensive entertainment. It is not too expensive to get in, and then food, beer, etc. are also inexpensive. The races are also great, though I love the spectator ones the best. Definitely a place to check out- though if you bring small kids, I would highly recommend ear protection- the cars get quite loud. Also, bring a blanket, because the bleachers are wood and can get uncomfortable after awhile.I would highly recommend coming the weekend of the 4th of July- they put on a great fireworks show read more

I wasn't even that excited when I found out I was going to this place with my husband and three sons, but after being there for a little while, we were all totally into it! The kids and us were cheering for our favorite cars to win and screaming and having a blast in the bleachers. Lots of fun. Expect to get a little dusty. We brought ear plugs for the kids, but they didn't wind up wearing them. Bring cash, otherwise there's an ATM at the entrance. Lots of fun for a family night out! read more

I've only been here once, but driven by loads of times. My husband and our friends came here to cheer on my lil sister's bf who races. He's new to the hobby, so it's fun for us all. When we got there we immediatley dug the grass parking. We hung out in the back where the cars wait to line up and get called for awhile. Granted we froze our butts off on that particular night, but it was still fun to see people working on their cars and to see the details of each one up close. We were pleasantly suprised by the cheap beer and food. We got free entry for being in the military too, even better! The bathrooms are meh, but it's better than a hole in the ground. lol. As we huddled beneath blankets, we eagerly (and probably drunkenly) cheered on the speeding cars. The atmosphere is fun, and if you are the friendly sort you can meet and chat with the racers families. Nice people. We will be back. Oh! And Dairy Dog is right down the street, so yeah! read more

If you see people wearing sunglasses at night here, you'll understand why soon enough. The clay track can get a little dusty, so bring some just in case. That being said, I love it here. Cheap fun, cheap beer. Surprisingly enough, we were the only ones yelling and cheering on the racers! While there were some great crashes during the races, we went for the demolition derby. Sadly, even though (or maybe because of?) it was opening night, there were only TWO cars in the demolition derby. Very sad. Fair warning: The parking lot is a grass field with a giant pip dividing it horizontally. You can't see it from the higher side, and we saw a pick up take a nose-dive. BE CAREFUL PARKING! "If there's no dirt in your beer, you're not at the Speedway." How true, how true. I guess I would add that if your hair doesn't smell like exhaust, you've steered clear from the Speedway. Thankfully, we were here when it was moderately wet, thus making not much dirt in my 2 dollar drafts. We sat on wooden bleachers (up and in is the way to be) that amazingly hold up most mulleted racing enthusiasts. Various races are held - 18 under, Powderpuff, Men's, dragstrips and (the main reason why I showed up) Demolition Derby. The demo derby was at the end but what I sat through was very entertaining. 25 laps/25 cars was the most fun since the potential for carnage was high. Only 12 finished but it was great watching 28, the 'sold' Honda CRV, being a cocksmoke to nearly everyone. Accidents? Yes. And that's why we were entertained. The Figure 8 race was subpar since it was a race and not so much a mash up, but I guess it's a race. The Demolition Derby was great. Waiting for the Derby to begin you can see over the horizon the fireworks from Elgin and St Charles and other towns near by, but the real fireworks was on the track. Having the station wagon gain enough steam, about 40 mph and plow into the expecting 88 Chevy Caprice Classic was great. Again, for twelve bucks, you see about two hours worth of car destruction or racing ahead of you. I don't think that's a bad deal. Just peeing in the horse troughs is. read more

If I could rate the Sycamore Speedway 10 stars, I would. This is without question my favorite summer time adventure. It's a hike getting out there but soooo worth it - and like others have said, it's a great night when you end up with a little mud in your beer cup. My favorite is the figure 8 towards the end of the evening, but the demo derby is fun too. This is a family friendly raceway but as you might expect it can get a little crazy in the stands at times. This racetrack is a blast! Extremely entertaining with a variety of different races. The "spectator races" are great because you never know who might show up willing to race their own every day car. A guy in a pristine Jaguar showed up the night we were there- the crowd went crazy! They sell your average ball park food- hot dogs, bbqs, popcorn, soft pretzels- but what else would you expect?? Grab a cold draft beer for $2 or a "fancier" choice of Mike's hard lemonade or Lime-A-Rita. If you want a night out of fun that is different from your normal bar scene, movies, dinner, come to the speedway- you'll be sure to have a great time and plenty of laughs! read more

As true as my statement above is, Sycamore Speedway is also a great time and something for young people to do instead of driving around the cornfields while sharing a case of Ice House. It's a long drive from Chicago...but, totally worth it! Highlights include the demolition derby, head on collisions in the figure eight circle of death, and the spectator races. Why anyone would enter their own car into these races which are guaranteed to be crash into is beyond me, but it was solid entertainment. The food is cheap and the beer is cold. Every time I go to this place, its a great time! Great place to go on a nice summer night to avoid the typical bar scene and see some crazy guys and gals driving around a dirt track! The track is located next to a place called Bob-Jo Motorcycles. Country living at its finest! - and only an hour from Chicago! A few things to note about this place - the demolotion derbys and the Figure 8 racing is not all that great. If you want to see some great races, go for the Spectator Racing! These dudes hop in their homemade junkers often just wearing shorts and a helmet. The track controllers are insane. The last time I was there, a car flipped upside down and came to rest on its roof at a dangerous section of the track - but they kept racing all around the flipped car with the driver still inside! That's crazy!!! But great fun to watch! In between race car races, they sometimes conduct 1-on-1 races for people driving regular cars. It's often kids driving the WRX their daddy just bought 'em, so its really fun to watch these cars race each other around the dirt track. Everyone wants to see them spin out and crash into the wall..... Highly Recommended read more

Sycamore Speedway is a great place to go and see all them wild ass rednecks racing around on a clay track. Friday nights are usually your best bet as it is Spectator Demo Racing. These are older beater cars with no roll cages and fenders and doors falling off of them and some of them have drag race engines in them. Judging how they drive, they must all be pretty drunk while they do it. I was there last year and a guy in a old Ford Ltd smashed a guy in the wall and the 2 drivers got out of their cars and started fighting while the other cars still raced around the fighting drivers. There usually is 5 or 6 rollovers in a racing night and car fires and gas tank explosions and most of the cars get smashed beyond recognition. There is a compact car class that is pretty boring as well as a womens class but there are only 5 or 6 of those and you can tell how inexperienced they are. They have head-on crashes and figure 8 races and a demo derby at the end with all of the cars that are left which is around 10 out of the 100 that start the races. It is overall a good time and the food is cheap and they have beer. I recommend adults with no small kids since there are fights and alot of people in the grandstands are drunk and rowdy. read more
