In my opinion this is the best Mexican food in the High Desert! Everything I've had here is great!

Ridiculous prices for such stingy, unappetizing food. Got a burrito and literally the first three bites were just tortilla, I also asked them to go light with the pico de gallo,literally entire burrito was all big chunks of onion, and I paid 20 dollars for two "large drink" and the size of the cup was so small. The service here was horrible, but the food was delicious. I ordered a mimosa, and I had to ask another staff member for some more juice since my waitress disappeared. When my juice was brought to me, it was raspberry instead of pineapple. I told the waitress, and she said they may be out of pineapple. Consistently well done food. Fresh warm chips. Very good salsas (a good sign from the get go). Today they offered champurrado and pumpkin flan, it's November. Their Sunday brunch is well done, clean, managed well, affordable. Family owned, very good customer service. My hubby's favorite today: cheesy cheese enchiladas. My fav: beef mulitas. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I ordered the guacamole appetizer, the pozole, and a Dr. Pepper. They offer customers water and complimentary chips that come with a red salsa and a green salsa. I prefer green salsa and it was very good. The guacamole appetizer was fresh and flavorful, and the chips were good. The serving of pozole was huge and delicious, the pork was tender, the toppings were great and they gave a nice big piece of lime. They offered to bring more toppings. I enjoyed eating there. Great Mexican food and service, which is a lot to say for the high desert which seriously lacks in service and quality

Foods presentation was good as you can see from our pictures how ever over all taste wasn't as great. Rice tasted kinda old like it had been sitting out for a while, Chile relleno was very small and covered with a lot of egg and had no flavor. Chile Verde burrito was pretty good but had no chunks of meat in it like most places do; insted it was very very small cut up pieces of pork in it. Food is good. Problem is when you spend close to $80 on dinner and can't even comfortably finish it. Their sign on door, menu, and website all say they close at 9pm. So when they're shutting off televisions, all the light up signs in window, and spread that uncomfortable feeling that you're holding them up ....at 8:15...from closing early, while you get to stare at their sidewalk sign they drag inside encouraging you to vote them best of the High Desert...while you're trying to enjoy your $80 meal, kinda make some people not want to inconvenience them again. Personally, I'll go spend my money elsewhere as there are plenty of restaurants in the area that care, or at least seem to care about their customers choice to pick them. Quick food stop, we tried the Mexican pizza and was honestly not impressed there was wayyy to much enchilada sauce and barely any ground beef. It did not taste like what I remember Taco Bells taste like and no lettuce or tomatoes. It was missing overall flavor. We decided to order the chincho salad and was also disappointed it was pretty plain nothing special about it. The server/ host was friendly and attentive throughout the whole time. The complimentary chips and salsa were the best part of the meal. The location was easy to find and once entering looked like your casual Mexican diner. Paid close to $100 My son got a bean and cheese burrito my other son had nuggies . Don't judge him lol I got the famous Jack tacos and my wife got the wet burrito and we all had horchata . Plates were hot af because they used the microwave to either melt the cheese or reheat the beans and rice . Great ambiance, decent prices, great service, and the food was delicious! Owner was there and working hard, also was helping his employees, all signs of a great leader! Most Mexican food places only give red salsa with chips, this place gave a red and green option. Both were good! Chips were perfect and not overly salty like most other places. We read about this spot on Facebook and decided to check out the Sunday brunch. So glad we did!! The selection of food was excellent, and included omelettes, enchiladas, chili relleno, chilaquiles, rice & beans, potatoes, chile verde, chili Colorado, chorizo, waffles, fresh fruit, garden salad, as well as pozole & Menudo, and aguas frescas. We order from Chicho's nearly once or twice a week. Favorites are the steak fajita plate I had at lunch w/ Julie T and met Chicho himself! He made this and some other great sounding recommendations. Other favorites are the shredded beef tacos (the best!) ; the Burrito De Chile Colorado, also delish, carne asada tacos, refried beans (the only place we will eat them! Fajita Mixed Beef and Chicken for 2. Flavorful and caramelized. I asked chef to add a little cheese on top so good, i forgot to take picture. First time I had been to Chicho's. Lo and behold to my surprise, its is owned by Chicho who I knew soooooo many years ago when he worked at another restaurant! He recognized and remember me right away. I was there for lunch with a friend who suggested we go there. She had the steak fajitas and loved them. Said the steak was very tender. I had the lunch Chile verde. Great flavor and tender chunks of pork. The sauce was very flavorful. I also enjoyed both the red and green salsa with the chips. Nice kick to the red. I will absolutely be back. So many choices on the menu. Then environment was peaceful. We were there right at lunch time on a Monday so not too many others there. First time here and had a great experience. Ordered chili Verde burrito and a cheese enchilada so that we could try both green and red. Both were homemade and amazing. The chili verde is the best we've had in Apple Valley!! My wife will usually not eat red enchiladas unless made at home, but I had a hard time getting any of the "shared plate" since she couldn't stop eating it. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, we really enjoyed talkingwith her. Turns out she's the daughter of the owner and recommended we try their Sunday Brunch and "jack tacos." There's no need for us to continue searching for really good Mexican food, we found it here and will certainly be back to try other dishes. read more

We had initially tried this place about 6 months ago and had a bad experience with our order being forgotten about and though the food was decent we just avoided them for a while. Recently decided to give them another shot and I'm glad we did! The food is good and the service is always great. If you go on Sundays it can get kinda crowded during their Brunch special.
