Delicious! Homemade tortillas ,very authentic and plentiful. Big portions, glad to be a local. Great prices too. It's not fancy but very clean. Everything that matters. I had shredded beef enchiladas and the sauce is so good, my friend had sopas that was stacked a mile high with really good asada, and my guy got a good big burger. Today my mom got cheese enchiladas from pick up and really loved them too. There is a lot of pop up Mexican food along side the road lately in town but I would come here all day everyday! read more

Finally found some AUTHENTIC menudo in town! Service was great, ambiance was homely, and food was delicious They do need to get a new billboard, I almost passed it up and I wouldn't have known they were there. Parking was good, maybe use the dirt lot if there aren't any parking spaces available. Overall I will be returning to try their other items on the menu. read more

New owners had the best chief teach them his recipes. Now they are not using those. It seems like my carne asada burito is filled with Sysco course ground beef roast. Not the flavorful beef roast i was used to from this mexican restaurant. It is a gray color meat now with lots more beans and lots of almost white rice to fill the flour tortilla. Came down the hill on the way back to Vegas for brunch after finding on yelp !! Very friendly family oriented! This place has So much flavor I had the pastor torta it was huge and full of meat and flavor ! Husband had the chicken quesadilla I don't now how a quesadilla can have so much flavor but it did !! The green sauce was really mild so we tried the red and it was perfect !! Salsa with the chips were amazing too !! Lucerne Valley has few choices when it comes to food. We wanted some authentic Mexican food, and the ratings were slightly higher here than the other Mexican food place. Overall, it was good but not great. The good; most of the ingredients tasted authentic. The tortillas and beans were awesome. I ordered the carne asada nachos, and the portion size was good, and they tasted like love and hard work went into them. Our food was made in a timely manner, and the price was pretty reasonable. The not so good; Never in my life have I had nachos without cheese. Nacho cheese? Nope. Cheddar cheese or some other type of shredded cheese? Nope. That yummy crumbly Mexican cheese even? Nope. Nada. Something was missing from my nachos, and it was painfully apparent that it was the cheese. My wife ordered the "crazy tacos." We tried to figure out what made them so "crazy," and we decided that frying taco shells and putting chicken in them was so much work that they decided it was crazy and used store bought shells. That was the few things that didn't taste authentic. The restaurant itself needed some tlc. Cracks, poor paint, and a general feeling of needing a face-lift throughout. The tv had some garbage playing on it, and the paintings on the wall featured what looked to be scantily clad women being carried to an altar by scantily clad men awating a sacrificial death. Maybe my interpretation was off, but it was just a little odd. Overall, I would consider eating there again, but I would probably try the other Mexican food place first. read more

Best Mexican food in Lucerne Valley. They have really great service and the food is consistently delicious and great prices! They can be busy in the morning but you usually don't have to wait too long for a table. Breakfast is always on point and they have great nachos! And I don't eat menudo but there's is always someone eating it for breakfast here so it must be good. read more

This is the best Mexican food in the High Desert. Period. There are a couple close contenders, but they are far more expensive. Everything at Coyote Loco is excellent. Breakfast, superb. She just did not have any help. while It was not crowded, there was only one person on staff to serve 4 tables, answering the phone and handling take out service orders. clearly a popular place by locals - something we always look for! If you want good home cooking Mexican style this is your place. please know that huebo rancheros con chile verde comes with pork. delicious and plentiful. but if you're not a meat eater or do not eat pork, then order the huevos rancheros regular. also great unsweetened iced tea. (Issues that make this more of a 3 to 3-1/2 stars are non-food factors: bathrooms are clean but dingy; windows are dirty with grimy child-size handprints) Still well worth eating here!!! read more

Nice little place in a desert setting at the bottom of the hill north of Big Bear, this is a nice spot to stop for authentic Mexican food while making a run to Home Depot, etc. We had the chicken enchilada combo that includes fluffy rice that would be abuela approved, very good. Also chose the "small" tacos which were plenty filling and heaped with terrific cabeza, lengua, and slightly dry but tasty al pastor. I chose the "hot" sauce and wonder if they keep the truly hot stuff away from the gringos? We stopped for lunch having noticed earlier that the parking lot was packed for breakfast. The chicken burrito, chile relleno, and chile verde are delicious. The prices are good. The hot salsa is delicious.

While travelling between national parks we went looking for a place to take a break from driving and get a nice lunch. We pulled into this parking lot and it was packed with people, as were the tables inside, plus a steady stream of people picking up takeout orders. Excited to see why this unassuming spot was getting so much attention, we headed in and were able to snag the last available table. All around us patrons were happily tucking into plates and combos and bowls of steaming hot menudo soup. The menu has breakfast and lunnch items with lots of variety to choose from. We had the enchiladas (shredded beef for me, chicken for my companion). They were served hot and fresh, with delicious sauces and excellent ingredients prepared perfectly. The service was excellent. I hit this place up rather than go to my normal place for a quick bite. I can say the prices are reasonable and the food was really good. I ordered the chili relleno burrito and it was a treat. It was filling and tasted fresh. Not too heavy like most burritos are. Also tried the carnitas nachos and they were good. They have a large breakfast menu and I look forward to trying a breakfast burrito on the way out to Johnson Valley. Excellent and authentic Mexican cuisine, they urgently need an AC but other than that. Chile colorado is the best in California, no kidding.
