The meat from the molcajete was so hard to bite into. We couldn't even rip it in half with our hands. The rice, beans, and empanadas we got tasted weird. Like if they were re-cooked. The salsa was odd too. It was like a mix of siracha and something else I can pin a name too. The drinks were warm. They charged me an additional 7 dollars just to use my card. They gave us 3 tortillas for the whole table (it was 5 of us). We asked for saltine chips to eat with our aguachiles and it was an additional 16 dollars!!!! That's not even the price for a box you can buy at a grocery store. I have been coming to this restaurant for years and it's been through some changes. They used to have this lady make the food and it was amazing. I always ordered the menudo. It had been a while so I decided to get it again. I was sad to hear that they didn't make it with hominy or Pata, which I get not everyone likes that. I took it to go. And when I got home to eat it, it had a strange and bad taste and smell. I ended up throwing it away. Total cost for the large menudo and a bottle drink was 21.00. If paying with card it was 22.00. I understand that restaurants charge card fee. But pay attention to your receipt. First time here. Inside is nice and has a cozy feel. We were the only customers there at 6pm. Service was great she was attentive and friendly. Chips and salsa were disappointing. Chips were store bought and very stale. Salsa was really good tho wish we had fresh chips to enjoy it. We ordered quesabirria tacos which were very good consume had good flavor. Fish taco which was just ok it was a little dry but massive we were able to make 2 tacos out of one. The rice and beans were not good at all. Super strange place...we went on a Friday night around 6pm and were the only ones in there the entire time. Food was not like any Mexican food I've ever had, strange sauces and flavors and smells. Food was cold and soft drinks were warm cans only. Something feels very off about this place. Claims to be a dance club/karaoke bar but it was dead as a door nail on a Saturday night. We noticed the restaurant after skateboarding across the street. It looks closed from the outside until you drive around to the back and see cars parked. We walked in and they had karaoke. It was very loud. The waitress offered to move us to another room where it wasn't as loud. We ordered some cheese enchiladas and we were served right away. The good: fish taco was good. But they didn't have any combos that gave you tacos with rice and beans. Had to order a side of rice to go with. My daughter's quesadilla although plain and a bit dry was made with homemade tortilla. The salsa was great! The bad: I wish I had pics but my phone was dead. I've never ate at a Mexican restaurant where the plates were so white and empty...no sauces, no guac, no sour cream, no pico, no garnishes. Just very plain food. The burrito ordered was $15 and was very dull. Had to add salt and lots of the table salsa. Not even close to worth its price at all. My other daughter ordered the 2 mini tacos kids meal. We received one small plain taco. Again another very empty plate. Asked waitress aren't kids meals supposed to have rice/beans or fries. She said "not this one" told her well it says so on menu as well as comes with two tacos not one. She said no, but offered her to order something else. My daughter declined and just ate taco and some of my rice. On check showed we were charged just one mini taco not kids meal. So I'm not sure what her miscommunication was, but she clearly knew we wanted a kids meal so maybe she was trying to avoid admitting her mistake and reorder it? Also she stood over us while we filled out tip and signed the check. Very awkward. Overall place wasn't terrible, but wouldn't come back. The hospitality here was fantastic! Our server did an amazing job, she kept our glasses filled, checked in on us, and was very friendly. The food was delicious! My wife got two chicken enchiladas (green), I got a carne asada burrito and it was all just so good and very filling. This place deserves more business than it had when we were there. My usual is "Carne asada nachos"... they were great with the first owner... okay with the second owner... 2 weeks ago, they really went downhill.. chips didn't taste fresh.. we were charged extra for beans and salsa (we hadn't been charged extra in the past). We ordered the asada tacos the meat was tasty the homemade tortillas were delicious! The beans and rice were great. The ambiance is nice and comfortable. The day we went it was karaoke night so nice. The place was completely empty when we arrived around 5:45pm. Not a good sign, but so many businesses have been struggling b, I'm all for helping out. One of my kids ordered the filet of fish. He complained it was too salty. My daughter tried it and agreed. I was skeptical so I tried it. They were right. I couldn't swallow it, it was that salty. The waiter took it back and they made him a new one. It was much better the second time around, but not worth the $18.99 as it was a regular Tilapia. My other kid's tacos were fine. 4 x $18 My Pozole ($12) was bland and I had to add lots of salt, pepper and lemon to give it taste. Something is not right with the cook's taste buds! The service was good and the waiter was very kind. I added one star because my youngest spilled his water. I took out one more star because we got charged 3.5% extra because we paid with a credit card. Whaaattt!!!!???? I don't foresee this place staying in business too much longer. This family ran restaurant serves authentic Mexican food, with large servings. To start the chips and salsa along with the bean dip so yummy!! There's a $1 charge for extra bean dip... BUT it's so worth it!! Carne asada fries that cover the plate. Burritos so big you'll wish you had shared. And to top it off Churros and fried ice cream!! I looked at previous reviews to look at the nachos reviews, but there was only one positive one, so I decided to give it a try, as I'm still looking for a great spot. These were the worst ones I've had. Mainly because of the over powering sharp cheddar they use. If you're not going to use Mexican cheeses, then use Monterey jack, pepper jack, or even mozzarella or nacho cheese. The food was okay, nothing special though. The chips and salsa were good. I had the taquitos. They were a little on the burnt side and the beef lacked seasoning. The guacamole was good but they only give a small spoon full, which isn't enough for 3 taquitos. The beans were a bit on the watery side but tasty. The rice was a little chewy. The service was pretty much nonexistent. The server brought out our food and filled my husband's water up once. Decided to try a new restaurant that's near by in Apple Valley CA and was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance was welcoming and spacious. The waiter, a young cutie pie was helpful and attentive answering all of our questions in a courteous respectful manner. He suggested the fish tacos and that's exactly what we decided to have. They were great!! they deep fried the fish and filled the taco with all the fixings even spicy mayo and avacado. They were delicious. We were served chips and salsa and the salsa was tasty, I think they roast the chile. The chips I want too impressed by with they weren't the best, may have been sitting out a little bit but other than that the menu has a variety of choices and the restaurant hosts live music on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. It's under new management but I don't have anything to compare it with. On it's own it's a great restaurant to enjoy. I also had some horchata and that was very good as well.
