Count your days Chic-Fil-A! All of my large fries are filled halfway. I know times are tough, but don't rip us off

Long drive thru line for grand opening!

Holy crap y'all, Albemarle got a Chick-Fil-A!! I used to joke around with one of my employees that all Stanley County needed was a Chick-Fil-A and I was buying a house out here. For the record, no, I'm not doing that. But it's a welcome addition to Hwy 24/27, and will be even better when the road construction is finished. I stumbled in on their Grand Opening last Thursday and it seems like everyone within 20 miles heard the news because the highway was backed up all the way to the Food Lion a half mile up the road. Nevertheless, I was not deterred. I simply parked a couple buildings away and walked, because I'm pretty sure eating at a Chick-Fil-A on opening day is what millennials dream of, right? After I navigated the 20 minute line (which I thought was amazing because it looked like it would be an hour) I ordered the CFA Deluxe minus pickles, so a regular chicken sandwich with Lettuce, Tomato, and cheese. I also got a strawberry milkshake. In about another 10 minutes I had my food and was heading out the door. I would have dined in, but the place was an absolute madhouse, so back to my truck I went. My sandwich was very, very fresh with a moist, breaded chicken breast, crisp lettuce, and a juicy tomato. The fries were hot and perfect. I'm sure the fact that all the means of cooking were brand new played at least a minor role in this, but all my food was stellar. A small mix-up that I didn't realize until I was heading down the road, but my milkshake was supposed to be strawberry. I opened my cup to find a trace of some strawberry but it didn't have the flavor. More than likely the associate who made my shake was rushed with the overflowing line and I didn't get the right amount of strawberry added to the cup. Regardless, my "vanilla" shake was good. Yep, build it and they will come. EVERYONE will come. Albemarle doesn't have many quality lunch options (sorry not sorry) so this is huge for the local community. I'd say good luck, but they wont need it!

market salad made wrong. that is not grilled chicken. It is a slab of HOT fried chicken dumped on a salad to make it wilt.

We were down by Lake Tillery on a job so this was within a reasonable distance. Love the layout and decor in the restaurant. Oh, we picked a shareable for the table and spinach artichoke dip, which was a good choice to split between three people. We still have plenty of our workday left so I opted to go with the grilled salmon and a rather unique side in Mexican street corn.. for my second side I decided to add a house salad with homemade ranch dressing. The salad was a large portion to start with in the flavor of the Mexican corn in the salmon went well together. I made a great choice. The Mexican corn was three short corn on the cobs in a long dish with sauce on top of the corn. Public house is definitely the place to be in Albert mall for lunch dinner or a private event.

We went to Five Points Public house for a weekday lunch and only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. The food was good, the interior architecture is nice to look at, and we will be back. The restaurant is a mix of booths and tables with chairs. You can tell the building is old, but had been tastefully worked into a restaurant by the age on the exposed brick within. The whole front of the restaurant faces one of the main roads for downtown, and has large windows that bring in tons of natural light. This place is good for a date night, a group gathering, or anything in between. There's even some bar seating if that's your thing. Our table got the French dip and a make-your-own burger. The French dip was easily shared by my little and me, as the portion size was large. The build-your-own-burger comes exactly as you want it, cooked to your temperature preference, but I will say the patty could have had more seasoning on it. The onion rings are amazing, and the onion adheres perfectly to the batter. One thing I hope to be able to use in the future is the Pontiac Room, which is their second story event space. They have a nice sign that gives details about the space, and I truly believe it would be good for wedding receptions, large parties, or large group gatherings. I don't know if there is an elevator to this space, so you'd need to check on that should your group have mobility concerns. Overall, this is a place that we will bring the whole crew to in the future.

The restaurant was busy but not overwhelmingly so, indicating the locals probably enjoy this spot. I was in the area and had a craving for pho and this was where Yelp led me. I'm a pho snob so I was a little surprised by how much I enjoyed the pho here. The broth was a little underwhelming at first, but once you add the chili oil and a touch of fish sauce, all of the flavors (the herbal essence and the beefy meatiness) came together beautifully. It hit the spot. I know it is a little short-sighted to rate this place according to just one dish, but it's what I have for you. That being said, my 4-star rating may change when I try other things on the menu the next time I come here. I normally like rating Thai restaurants by their green curry and pad thai -- so that is something to look forward to!! A few things that didn't really matter but they stood out. 1) They didn't bring out a plate of herbs for you to garnish your soup with. Instead, they added all the herbs into the soup before they brought it to the table. I get it. This is a rural area with little diversity so you want to simplify things for your main customer base. I also assume it is a waste thing. I always use up ALL of my herbs but I know most people don't . This way it saves on the waste. 2) The beef was cut chunky instead of sliced thinly like what's normal in a bowl of pho. At first, I thought it was carelessness or an oversight from the chef, but after a bite with the beef, broth, and the noodles all together, I am thinking it may be an intentional choice. With the beef pieces being bigger and chunkier, it preserves that super beefy taste. The one knock I have is my pho noodles we're all broken like I got the noodles from the bottom of the bag. It's not a huge deal. Just bad luck, I guess. Overall, good spot. Try it out!
