Hi, this was the first time that I ate here for lunch, and my husband's 2nd time. We moved here to Lake Tillery last week. The food is delicious and the portions are plentiful!!! I ate the eggplant parmigiana and my husband ate the grilled chicken salad. We have enough for leftovers. The restaurant is clean and also has an outdoor covered patio. We love Pizzantica. When we visit family we try to go there at least once during the visit. We have never been disappointed.

The good: Warm ciobatta bread brought with a side of pesto garlic oil for dipping as a starter. Drinks came promptly. The great: Crispy excellent Parmesan garlic wings The warning: Got an antipasto salad- it was not nearly as good as it had been before (we ordered to go once a few months ago). This one has turkey (not supposed to be on there!?) & ham (unlikely) on it and was missing the good Italian meats that are typical. Plus the artichoke hearts were actually spoiled. Didn't have the heart to tell the very shy & reluctant waitress. The other warning: Ambiance is painful. Torn up seat cushion, I get it that those repairs don't happen overnight. But truly the staff was painful to interact with- ranged from civil or shy to downright rude (sullen teen). Not sure what's going on with management but I really hated this aspect- yes I'll still tip for adequate service but this place made me want to not return as it was uncomfortable. read more

I went to Pizzantica for a business lunch. It was highly recommended. I cannot say enough about my meal. I ordered the lunch special lasagna with a side salad with homemade Italian dressing. The meal came with bread and oil with herbs. Every bite was absolutely delicious. The salad was fresh, and the dressing was wonderful. The bread was soft and tasty. The lasagna was wonderful. It was flavorful, and the gravy was divine. Service was great. We were approached for drinks immediately, we ordered and had lunch on our table in about 7 minutes. The restaurant itself is humble. Booths give some sense of privacy. Enjoyed my experience and definitely will be back when I return to Albemarle. read more

Pizzantica Albemarle NC We tried two slices sausage and pepperoni, really good FLAVOR AND LOT OF CHEESE, extremely thin crust, which we enjoy. Calamari was good, fresh and so were the fried ravioli. We are out there every week so it's a good place to stop. Oh, I saw the antipasto salad and another HUGE salad and will say the portions are EXCELLENT. Excellent food and service! We had a wonderful experience today and although I thought my pasta Florentine was wonderful, it turns out my husband's New York Stromboli was even better. But the biggest thrill was finding out that all the pasta sauces can be made with gluten free penne and they even have gluten free pizza! It's not advertised; we had to ask. Our daughter was recently diagnosed with celiac disease and knowing where to find good gluten free options is extremely important to us now. So even though everything was fabulous, my one suggestion would be to let everyone know gluten-free options are available. Maybe add it to the menu the next times menus are reprinted and put it on the white board behind the hostess for now. read more

Sat down with my daughter for lunch. We watched everyone else that came in after us get their food. She ordered spaghetti with butter sauce and I ordered a calzone. Should not have taken so long to get our food, and definitely not after everyone else. People left the restaurant that arrived after us, ate, and were on their way before our food even came. Our waitress was nice, but the lack of organization from the staff making the food ruined the entire visit. Then on our way out my daughter (who is only 3) said "bye, have a good one" and not one of the 4 staff members at the front said anything. Rude. read more

I had lunch here with my coworkers while visiting the area. Both the guys got subs, one Italian and one meatball. They asked it have them toasted and the came out perfect! Both of them liked it and finished every bite. All 3 of us got a side salad. What a perfect salad with nice mix of topping and they were large. I could eat one of those every day. I got the chicken Marsala lunch special. It was great and had tons of mushrooms! The homemade chips and ranch that came with the subs were also delicious. Awesome food and our waitress was very attentive. We ordered chicken broccoli Alfredo and penne vodka. Absolutely delicious. The Caesar salad was extra crunchy and cold. The potato bacon soup was creamy and paired perfectly with the bread they served before our meal. The mango pineapple sangria was a little weak but this restaurant hit the spot! I've been visiting pizzantica for a long time now and have never been disappointed. The chicken Stromboli is a family favorite as is the chicken and broccoli fettuccine Alfredo. Now here's where my 5 stars come into play, I was craving spaghetti Bolognese which is very hard to find at any Italian restaurant in the south but I decided to take my chances and ask if they had anything on the menu similar or if they could somehow make it- I wasn't expecting the owner to come out of the kitchen with the best spaghetti Bolognese I've ever eaten! He said he made it personally himself since he knew the recipe and his cooks did not. I was thrilled and even though it's not a item I can order all the time the fact that he was willing to go above and beyond to fix me a dish that wasn't even on the menu shows just how amazing this restaurant and their customer service is. This is the best Italian near Charlotte. It's incredible that it's a hidden gem is located in albemarle, nc. It's authentic and delish. They make homemade bread everyday and it's to die for. This is the only Italian Restaurant I go to unless I'm in New York or Chicago. The guy who owns the place is actually from Italy and is the nicest person. Make sure you try their chocolate cake too. We've been enjoying Pizzantica since they opened. The food is great! The fresh rolls and pesto are delicious, they have a hearty and healthful grilled chicken salad, and the pizzas are wonderful. Also, this is Stanly County, so I better mention their ranch is really good. The only things that aren't perfect are 1) the pasta is sometimes overcooked and 2) there is sometimes no hostess or maybe a shortage of waitstaff, so things can feel a bit hectic at times. None of those downsides are enough to ever discourage us from dining at Pizzantica. It's one of the best places to eat in Albemarle. read more

This is my favorite pizza place in Albemarle. I love how they have the closest to authentic Brooklyn style pizza in town. They also have great pasta. I tried the salmon with a bisque cream sauce and tortellini. It was exquisite. The service here is always good. The staff has a great attitude and will recommend items if you're not sure about what you want. I've never had the pleasure of dining in but from the looks at the pickup counter it feels very welcoming and cozy. read more

I went to Pizzantica, and I purchased 2 parmasean chicken subs. They were the worst I have ever had. The chicken was hard, and I believe it was very old. Bread and salads were great. We also ordered the calamari--it was great, so we had high hopes for our entrees. Alas, the entrees were a bit of a letdown. I would stick to the more classic dishes, they seem to get those right. I ordered the shrimp toscana; if you like soupy pasta, its okay. The garlic in the dish was still raw and the sundried tomatoes were still hard and dry. Pasta dishes were $15-17 each with salad and bread. Family of four was easily runs $100 with tip. 5 of us went on a Saturday night. It was busy but only a 30 minute wait. Service was pretty good even though they were so busy. We had 5 different meals and none of us got pizza. All of the meals were just OK. The baked spaghetti was a little salty. You do get a lot of food on each plate. I think I'll try a different Italian place next time. read more

My husband & I go to Pizzantica when we're craving good Italian food. He usually gets a large pepperoni pizza & takes half home for lunch the next day. I am a little more adventurous and have tried many of their numerous pasta dishes as well as the pizza and calzone - all of which are very good! My only complaints with the restaurant are that portion sizes aren't consistent and sometimes service can be a little slower. We know better than to go to Pizzantica if we're in a hurry - but on that note, who wants to eat Italian in a rush anyways?! I have to update this and add a star, I went back and picked up pizza for the family and the calzone was delicious (and awesomely huge) and the Pizza Bianca is on point. Very good pizza. At this point I can only give 3 starts, and 2 of those starts are for service. A few things here, a. The menu, especially the pasta selection, should be cut in half. It's way too many options, when you see that many choices at a small town Italian restaurant you know that instead of those few being great, they many will be mediocre. And they were. I had the Chicken Piccata-i'm a trained chef that lived in Italy for two years, I'd be happy to show you how to make this. But it should never Look like the chicken is boiled, it should be seared which means it should also be brown. I would also venture to put money down that the sauce was premade and probably bought outside of the restaurant. Although it came with a lemon slice garnish, that is a useless garnish, if you want to include lemon in the dish put it in the actual sauce (which didn't taste like lemon). The cheese bread is a hoagie roll, sliced in half with literal sandwich cheese slices, and not like much cheese at all, like what would be on a sandwich-not even 3 slices of cheese. It was pitiful and was a insult to even see as a version of cheese bread. On a positive not our waitress was awesome and accommodating, although she couldn't tell you if they were eggs in the Caesar salad dressing or what kind of anchovies they used that is not her fault, that is her bosses fault. read more

No free Wi-Fi but the waitress suggested we use the signal next door! LOL. Pleased to see they have draft selections. One nice tall mug will only set you back five bucks and they have Peroni on draft, in Albemarle people. Very nice. We really miss bruschetta since Romanos' offering went south so we were anxious to try this one. Not bad. Bread could be larger and mozzarella should be grated on top but still not bad. Ever had a waitress that acted like you had Covid? This lady was only at our table fast enough to get our order and then whipped away before we could answer fuller. Can't really say I blame her though and she did get friendlier the closer we got to the tip. Kids had the spaghetti and meatball and the lasagna, both passable. The true test should be the pizza though right? It is called "Pizzantica" after all, whatever that means. Again, good but not great. Could have used more cheese and the crust was a little to hard on the ends. I'd like to try an entrée next time. Oh and we won't order garlic knots next time as they brought some bread and olive oil out before our meal. read more

This Italian restaurant is AWESOME! I went for the Small NYC Stromboli. I'm so glad I did!! The sauce was like homemade Italian marinara! The bread and crust were perfect! I enjoyed the uneaten half the following day for lunch, and it was just as good!! Strongly recommend trying this place! read more
