I received a text from my roommates suggesting we go to Popeye's for lunch. We all emerged from our respective bedrooms, groggy though it was early afternoon. With classic early 2010's hits accompanying us from my playlist, we drove over to Popeye's in excellent spirits. One of my roommates was bewildered at this new dining endeavor as I pulled up to the drive thru-- it was her first time eating here and I could see a sparkle in her eye as she gazed at the menu. After ordering, we wait our turn to pull up to the window. When we arrive, we are greeted by a kind young man who does all of the normal drive thru routine like taking my payment, giving me our drinks. Now, you may be wondering what is so special about this seemingly normal encounter I had this afternoon? Trust me, I felt just like you did, until this happened. He goes to give me our food, and with a kind of urgency, he utters these words to me: "There is a huge bug crawling up your door to your window." As any other person would do, I screamed as I rolled up my window and watched as the largest leaf bug I have ever seen scaled up my door and onto my window. All 3 of us in the car were laughing and the employee was laughing with us. But it doesn't stop there. What comes next was one of the greatest acts of heroism I have witnessed in my life. The employee reaches over to the bug and quickly removes it off my window with an unmatched grace, setting it free. I wish I could put into words how incredibly thankful I and my roommates are for this truly courageous act. This employee went above and beyond to give us the best possible service and ensure a quality experience; and that he did. It is with much sadness that I must share with you that I didn't catch his name. So to whoever was working the window at this Popeyes around 12:40-1:00 on September 7, thank you for your unwavering bravery, from the bottom of our hearts. And to management, please pass along our thanks. We will 100% be returning.
