House Fry (£9) - seaweed crack & pickled watermelon
    Miko B.

Although the pickled watermelon chunks that the House Fry (drumstick & thigh) came with were super bomb, my friend and I both preferred the K-Pop (sandwich). I think I'll stick to the sandwiches on my next visit!

    K-Pop Sandwich, delicious!

Nicely battered, juicy deep fried chicken with amazing Dripping Fries with friendly service surrounded by hip decor.... need I say more? This quick dinner stop was definitely a memorable one. The Disco Wing appetizers were nice and crispy, but not overly battered and well seasoned. The K-pop and The General were delicious chicken sandwiches, again, well battered with a a crunch, but not so over battered to overpower the juicy chicken inside. The Dripping Fries were amazingly flavored, to the point no ketchup or other seasonings were required. Service was friendly and prompt. The environment was hip without being overly trendy. I loved the metal printing press plate accent wall, very unique concept for an accent wall. Will definitely come back to try out more sandwiches and appetizers and another round of the fries.

The very hot and numbing wings

Who could say no to fried chicken?? YASSSSSS!! this is the right place to go! Me and my fiancé were on our way from covent garden to soho when we saw this little crowded place. We stopped in front of the restaurant simply because other pedestrians stopped and they were checking out the menu. The kitchen is a part of the reception area so that is the first thing guests will see when they enter and what we saw was good enough to make us come back the very next day. We ordered the szechuan aubergine, naked disco wings and hot and sour pineapple. They are all tasty!! The staff suggested sriracha and mayo dip to go with the wings. The dip is not too spicy but it slowly burns in your mouth, which is nice and kind to those of you who can't handle spicy food. The wings are crispy and perfectly battered and fried with oil that does not mess with your throat. I like fried stuff and I'd like to keep myself away from bad 'oils'. A good indicator is that after you eat something fried but you don't feel anything sticky or irritated your throat, it means the oil is clean and it has not been reused. Szechuan aubergine - 10! I like vegetable and I like friend stuff. Win! Tastes like tempura with yummy sauce. Hot and sour pineapple - 9. I like hot and sour food and this one tastes very much like "rujak" or fruit salad from my home country, Indonesia. This one is nice to go with all the fried stuff you are eating. As mains, my fiancé ordered the K-Pop bun. After all that wings we had eaten, the bun seemed to be too much. He thinks the bun is so soft it crumbles very easily while you eat and the chicken batter was different from the standard. The texture of the chicken was apparently harder to bite into. Overall good but not as impressive as the other chicken dishes. I stayed with the wings and challenged myself to try the "hot and numbing" disco wings. It is the highest level of spiciness but it turned out to be quite manageable, especially when you dip it into blue cheese or the sriracha and mayo dips. I have to say, though, the "naked" disco wings are better ;). Drinks! you should definitely try their housemade soda. They mix watermelon juice and lemonade so it is sweet and sour, just the right balance. Order two because it is served in a short glass. Sides - we ordered the pickled watermelon, which I think is a must-try. It is a bowl of cut watermelon, chilli, mint, coriander leaves, splash of lemon and sprinkle of nuts. It is a gorgeous salad and perfect to combine with the wings. We are very satisfied with the food they serve and will definitely take some friends another time.

Pickled watermelon and Guest Fry Kung Pao chicken

Spicy, wonderful food in a relaxing atmosphere. Gets crowded so helps to make reservation (online). Loved the pickled watermelon, Guest Fry Kung Pao chicken and the local Fourpure Pils from Bermondsey.

Super friendly and helpful staff at this small basement restaurant in 7 Dials. They will guide you through the small menu, which is basically chicken or chicken burgers. Tasty tangy flavours and fairly priced given its location. Definitely worth a try.

I wanted something with at least one good veggie option, they wanted something with meat, and it had to be somewhere in-between Camden and Canary Wharf, not too pricey, and ideally close to the city because otherwise our Italian friend probably wouldn't make it. And lo and behold.... THE FAT BEAR!!! It was all we wanted and more! This place is sort of tucked away and up some stairs above a pub. It's really just a room and a half, which makes it super cozy and they have a pretty awesome looking bar. It's got warm lighting which makes the atmosphere really nice. Their cocktails were delightful and the service was excellent. I will make a very strange observation that someone working there had a very drunk friend who just sort of made herself at home. Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.

I could eat this every day for the rest of my life it's that good. The cocktails were ridiculously good, so good i may have to make a trip to london just to have them again. Stop on by if you want some fantastic food in a chill atmosphere!
