I have been dying to stop in here for a while! So glad I found myself in the neighborhood recently. Their chicken is some of the most flavorful and moist chicken I have ever had! It is so so good! I've heard great things about the chicken quesadilla so I ordered one for my daughter and I to share. This thing is MASSIVE! If you don't LOVE cheese then order a different dish. The quesadilla is absolutely stuffed full of cheese. The rice and beans also had great flavor but I couldn't get over the chicken! The fried plantains were also delicious! The spicy green sauce is SPICY- heavy with cilantro and so dang good! I've heard you can ask for it to be mixed with the sour cream which might tone down the spice but I liked it as it is. I'm not one for super sweet drinks but I really enjoyed the flaxseed pineapple tea drink. It wasn't overly sweet (while it does still contain quite a bit of sugar if you're reading labels). Super disappointing experience here a few months ago. Having had real Peruvian chicken while living in the DC area for 10 years, the chicken here lacked smoke (you couldn't smell a grill or wood fire inside), spice, and even salt - was completely bland. It was about the quality of Giant Eagle rotisserie, and I could have made better in my own oven or smoker. The yucca fries and sauces were ok, but it was kind of ridiculous having to pay for a separate order of them when they should've come with the chicken as an option. And the restaurant was cold like a refrigerator. This place is outrageously expensive for the quality and seems like it's coasting on having almost no competition in Pittsburgh. Man, Beechview has some FUCKING GEMS My buddy @willkoz has been telling me to go here for about a year now. I never knew where it was until I went to Alquisiras and saw they're legit connected. Rice, cheese and their DYNAMITE rotisserie chicken. It needs nothing more. The perfect burrito The quesadilla. I have had them yes, but I have never ordered one in my life. 99% of places that sell them are not packing them. I was legit shocked when it came out. They did not skimp in the slightest. If you're not hungry, you should go somewhere else. You will look at this menu and think the food is pricey. What you've gotta keep in mind is that everything here is XXL. Until recently, I've only ordered takeout from Chicken Latino, but I finally stopped to dine in and it was a terrific, quiet little spot with very attentive service, a clean and cheerful dining room, and really great, hot, giant food. My husband and I split a chicken quesadilla and still didn't finish it. The quesadillas are big, but also LOADED with chicken, cheese, beans, and rice. (Get the green hot sauce; it's as hot as can be, but flavorful.) We also ordered a basket of yuca fries that would have been plenty for four people. We had ordered before, like I said, so we knew that this would be *plenty* of food for two of us. Food is always fresh and hot. Service is excellent! Recently I had a kids cheese quesadilla. The outer shell was divine. Really crispy and it was packed with cheese. I ordered this as I wasn't famished and just wanted something small. They always give you a large portion , and I normally can't eat it all in one sitting. I received some of the best customer service of any Pittsburgh restaurant at this place. And, the food was some of the best Latin American food I've had in a while as well. I got to try out their Peruvian chicken combo meal with chicken, yellow rice, beans, sweet plantains, yucca fries, and spicy green sauce, as well as their tres leches cake. Everything was delicious. The chicken was very juicy and flavorful. Perfectly cooked, and not too fatty at all. The yucca fries were still crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and went perfectly with the green sauce, which was (as they said) quite spicy. The sweet plantains were also delicious and came in a great portion. Caramel iced well and thoroughly cooked. I like that they kept the beans separate, and they were really good as well. Almost fully melted in a way, that's how creamy they seemed. Went well with the rice, which was soft but a bit plain. The tres leches was one of the best tres leches I've had in Pittsburgh. So soft, sweet, and delicate. The perfect amount of each of the milks. And, it looked pretty beautiful as well. All in all, I highly recommend this place. One of the hidden gems of Beechview. Not sure why but the chicken was very dry and not so good. You could tell it had some flavor but the dryness was surprising since CL, according to the website, marinates the chicken overnight. We love Chicken Latino!! We used to stop in all the time in the strip district and now they're right in Beechview!! Usually I got a chicken quesadilla which is huge and lasts several meals (for me). We always splurge on the plantains. Sometimes he gets a burrito, or chimichanga. We've gotten half and whole chicken with the rice and beans- so good. My wife and I made the trek up the hill to Beechview last weekend just to try Chicken Latino and we enjoyed it! We sat outdoors on an unseasonably warm October evening. A bit noisy along the main road where the T runs but generally pleasant. The restaurant is very small inside so there is not too much seating. Based on the food I bet they would do great take-out. Speaking of the food, it was heavy and tasty! We started with yuca fries, which were like very dense and starchy thick-cut steak fries. We dipped them in the house special green chili sauce (which packed a punch) as well as some Mayo. Both good, very different flavors! My wife got a 1/4 chicken with rice and cole slaw. The chicken literally fell off the bone - so soft and moist. The rice had a lot of flavor too, although the cole slaw just okay (very creamy, not much cabbage). I got the house special - Lomo Saltado. It was HUGE! A pile of tender beef over red onion, a bit of pepper, savory rice, and regular steak fries, all with a light gravy sauce. This would've been a 5 star review had it been based on my first few experiences, but my last experience was a 3 star at best. I arrived for an early dinner. Ordered the half chicken and it was dry as a bone. Service was wonderful, but the chicken had clearly been sitting for quite some time. I love the spicy sauce, rice and coleslaw, but as soon as the chicken came, I could tell it wasn't as fresh as it could've been. Now I understand that rotisserie chicken can't be made to order. However, maybe there could be cross utilization of the older rotisserie chickens. I will undoubtably go here again as the chicken quesadilla is the best I've ever had hands down. A hidden gem in Beechview! The most tender and flavorful rotisserie chicken I've had. I ordered the Big Chicken Quesadilla and Jalapeño Poppers. Both came out very quickly after ordering, but were clearly freshly cooked for us. The Jalapeño Poppers were lightly breaded, stuffed with cheddar cheese, and fried. They weren't overly spicy, which I liked, and went well with the salsa dip they provided. The Big Quesadilla was by far the best chicken quesadilla I've had in quite some time. Firstly, it is giant, a whole foot long and fully stuffed with tender chicken, white rice, chedder cheese and black beans. It was extremely flavorful and the 3 sauces provided on the side made it even better! The red salsa was a mild spice that gave freshness to every bite. The sour cream added a more creamy texture. And the green sauce was a delicious spicy kick when drizzled on top. Definitely had half the quesadilla left over to enjoy for dinner the next day. Service was quick, but they did miss hear our drink orders which resulted in getting rice milk instead of orange Fanta, a $6 price difference. Overall, the food was delicious and a great experience! What Ana amazing little restaurant! I have been dying to come here since I am obsessed with Peruvian chicken, and this place did not disappoint. As soon as I saw that they had only a few menu options, my hopes raised for the quality of the food. But they were even surpassed when I tasted it! Absolutely terrible. Ordered off of GrubHub. Food came super quick. Ordered 1/2 a chicken and fries. Such a shame when generic grocery store steak fries are the highlight of your meal. Chicken was dry to the point of being inedible. Needed water to wash it down to avoid choking Tasted like it had either been 5+ hours old sitting under a heat lamp or reheated from yesterday. Any place that charges money for the garbage I received should be embarrassed and does not deserve to be supported. You could get better Rotisserie Chicken at Walmart and their chicken is about as bad as it gets. Chicken Latino is surprisingly worse. Ended up throwing most of it away. With the current situation and drive from Bridgeville I had been missing coming here and gave in about a month ago for a curbside order. I thought the chicken from here was pretty good but for the price I thought the portions were kind of small and the rice was bland. I really wish you could substitute the rice for the "premium" sides such as plantains, etc. as the substitution options for the rice are quite limited. Surprisingly the coleslaw was delicious and some of the best I've had but the portion was so small it was disappointing. The coleslaw was served in a sample cup that they use to give out samples at Costco... I think I should be getting a little more than that. I have walked past Chicken Latino literally hundreds of times. It is usually overshadowed by two of my favorite food establishments in the strip which just so happen to be directly across the street: Pamelas and Edgars taco stand. This is probably the main reason I have never been to this establishment until recently. But that all changed when my sister and her husband (who are also foodies) kept talking about this "Chicken Latino" place. They explained to me where it was and it finally hit me, it's the colorful place across the street from my two favorite places to eat in the strip, no wonder I haven't ever been there! They told me to get the chicken burrito and yukka fries, then to mix the green sauce with mayo and put it on everything. This is exactly what I ordered, plus plantains because who doesn't love plantains?!?! The food came out extremely fast and extremely hot. I was blown away by the size of the portions. "This can't be?" I thought to myself... this food has to be more expensive... NOPE! You get gigantic portions for extremely reasonable prices that all taste wonderful! The chicken burrito was one of the best I've ever had. The yukka fries were so unique and tasty, they were fluffy and crunchy, salty and savory, like nothing I have ever had before! The plantains were cooked to perfection and on the sweeter side. I usually NEVER leave food on the table but this time I had to. So I boxed up the rest of my plantains and yukka fries and took them home which happened to taste even better later on! I can't believe I waited so long to go to this place! This place isn't upscale by any means, but it has what you could possibly need. Good food, fast service, and reasonable prices. CRISPY YUCA ($5.99): Yuca french fries. This is like a secret hiding in plain sight. I think the first time I tried it was because I was tired of waiting in the line at Pamela's and it was lunch time anyway. I was looking around the area for restaurants to try, and when I saw this on Yelp, I knew we had to go give it a shot! I'm a big fan of Peruvian food, both the roasted chicken and the sides that are offered - fried sweet plantains and yucca! Their fried plantains are delicious and are great for an appetizer or dessert. Their chicken is what they are known for and it is great and they give you a lot of food for their prices.
