I finally tried Chicken Salad Chick and it was pretty darn good. Not sure what took me so long to try it out. After going on the website and seeing they have many GF options I decided to give it a try. I went with the 1 scoop meal with just the classic carol and a bowl of tomato bisque soup. Both were great, the meal included a cookie which my daughter quickly decided was hers. I am now a Chicken Salad Chick Stan! My sister and I were roadtripping and decided to stop for lunch. I was impressed by all the different chicken salad options they had. I got the classic fancy Nancy, the perfect blend of creamy and hints of sweetness with the grapes, apples and walnuts. I've watched people come and go here for months while going to my Pilates class and they sparked my curiosity. One evening I came in to get something for dinner. They weren't really busy but I noticed they have booths and tables with nice tablecloths. The young man behind the counter was super friendly. This location is easy to get to with plenty of parking. When you go inside, it's clean and there are both booths and tables, decorated with fun facts about the company (like each menu item is named after a real person). Ordering is easy, and there are plenty of option. They also have a display case that has a bunch of ready to go items. I signed up for their rewards, so I had a "free meal" for my birthday (which was awesome)! I got the classic carol on a croissant, loaded baked potato soup on the side and a water. They bring the food out to you as soon as it's ready. The classic carol was good, but a tiny bit bland. Next time, I'll be trying one of the other recipes - like the holiday one with cranberries and jalapeños. The croissant was nice and flakey, but I would choose my own homemade over the classic carol but it was still good. I loved the soup. I don't know if it's because it's cold out but it hit the exact spot! They have different soups daily, but I believe the loaded baked potato is available every day and then others are swapped out. The service was amazing, the food was amazing, and the facility was clean. Only one thing I would have changed, have the bread toasted on the side they put the chicken salad on so it doesn't come out soggy. Now it wasn't extremely soggy but a bit. I had the Fancy Nancy, similar to one that I make at home. I also had a side of loaded potato soup and that was extremely yum! They also give you a little soft cookie which was a cute little plus. I decided to get two scoops of chicken salad and decided to take a look at the cheese. Once I arrived at the restaurant, I was surprised they had a large end space on the strip mall and lots of tables, inside and outside, to sit and dine in at. It was also very clean looking. My guess is that they may get busy during lunch hours with so much store space. There were only three tables being used when I came for take out around dinner time. The service from the counter staff was good and she was patient with me as I changed my mind several times after looking at my options again when I was there. I got the spicy and the onion styles of chicken salad with broccoli salad and pasta salad and ended up also buying a side of spicy Pimento cheese spread. The two scoop/two side meal was relatively cheap but adding the Pimento cheese made my meal a little more pricey. The food was surprisingly filling and very tasty. The Pimento cheese and the chicken salad went well with the crackers and the pita chips and tortilla chips I had at the hotel. I must say it was a nice healthier dinner choice and the Pimento cheese lasted about 4 servings before I finished it. OBSESSED! I'm honestly kicking myself for not trying Chicken Salad Chick sooner. I first went a few weeks ago, and I've already come back twice. I usually do the trio with three scoops to try different flavors and take leftovers for lunch the next day. So far, I've tried Barbie-Q, Lauryn's Lemon Basil, Kickin' Kay Lynne, Sassy Scotty, Jalapeño Holly, and Dill-icious Diva. They were all so good that I don't know if I can pick a favorite! I would 1000% get all of the chicken salads I got before. The soup I got because I love soup though it was nothing to write home about and although good I probably won't get that one again. Having been to the Railyard location (Norfolk) many times, I was so excited for Greenbrier to open. It's closer for me. I praised this place up and down to my mother, kept checking back on the opening date, etc.. Our first visit to Greenbrier loc was about a week or 2 after they opened. Crazy busy but perfection. 2nd trip still incredible. Then my mom said she had gone with her friend and they "didn't care for it." I was like WHAT?!? Why?!? Surely it was THEM. Then today my husband and I went in around noon-12:30. I ordered my usual (Dixie Chick on toasted white) with a scoop of Jalapeño Holly as side to bring home). Husband decided to mix it up and get a pimento cheese with bacon on toasted white w pasta salad. So... my chicken salads were still delicious BUT the portions were far less than usual. The chicken salad didn't cover my bread by any means and even if they had spread it out--it would've been an incredibly thin layer. Not at all the usual amount. Bread was toasted perfectly. My husband, who is the one who introduced me to Chicken Salad Chick in the first place, was not happy at all. Once again, the pimento cheese was not the usual scoop and it also did not cover the bread. The 2 thin slices of bacon looked like they came from that pack of Hormel pre-cooked bacon you can buy at the store. When I say thin--I mean thinly cut and also thin in width. Kind've chewy/not crisped at all. He was also annoyed bc the pasta salad was super dry with little flavor. Neither of us ate our pickles bc they looked shriveled up like they'd been sitting out of the pickle brine for a long time. His comment was "I know why your mom didn't like this place now." I felt bad bc CSC was my pick for lunch today. The ambiance at this location is a bit darker and less welcoming than the one in Norfolk though the set-up is nearly identical. It feels like it's more green/flourescent? Like the lighting isn't as warm maybe? Part of the left side as you walk in is darker overall. Maybe the type of bulbs they use doesn't help? A male manager did come around and ask how everything was. We don't usually complain so I was a bit surprised when my husband sounded a bit resigned saying "It's okay." The manager said "Ok, good" and walked away. I also want to add that everyone is tired of the excessive tipping suggestions at fast or fast-casual restaurants (like here, Chipotle, Jason's Deli, etc) where you aren't actually being served by wait staff or bartenders. While you have the option not to tip, the auto calculation on checkout STARTS at 15%. Our bill was $31 without a tip. So, the starting suggestion tip for our bill was nearly $5. A 25% tip is closer to $8. This is for a person to bring the food to our table after ordering at the front. No other interaction needed. If you need to pay your employees better, figure it into the overall price. Overall, I won't give up on this place. The chicken salads are still my favorites outside of my own. I'm sure this place has a standard "scoop" level among other things. I just hope it was an "off" day. Oh!!! Can you guys also please do a chicken salad with both celery AND onions?
