I've been eating Gourmet Gang for a couple of decades, which speaks to the quality of their food. It's just as good today as it was when I started going here two decades ago when I worked upstairs from their OG Chesapeake location. The sandwiches are always fresh and flavorful. Turkey & Provolone, Blackened Chicken, and Santa Fe are a few of my faves, but the weekly specials are always an excellent opportunity to switch things up. The chicken salad with crackers is another yummy fave. I love their pasta sides (Definitely get the lemon basil when available!) and desserts. The food is always ready on time and always fresh and delicious. The orders are always accurate and portions are generous. Sandwiches, wraps, salads, desserts, fresh fruit and much more are available. I have been able to sample a variety of offerings and have enjoyed every item. I particularly enjoy the Italian sandwich, club sandwich, potato salad, lemon dessert bar and Heath cookie. Business hours at this location are Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 3 PM. We had a catered office lunch from here and everyone was VERY happy. The food is so fresh and the portions are HUGE. I admit I was a bit disappointed when I saw that there was no combo because I wanted a salad and a sandwich. But was very happy with what I ordered. I got the Chinese Chicken Salad and a side of mediterranean pasta salad. I could not finish both. The salad had huge pieces of chicken, snow peas, red peppers and wonton noodles. I thought there was too many wonton noodles but that is my personal taste. My coworkers loved their caesar salads and Chicken Salad plates. 1st off the service was great but I was highly disappointed by the chicken salad. It tasted like plain boiled chicken and mayonnaise. That's it. I couldn't see a speck of pepper if it was seasoned. It's been days and I can't stop thinking about how bad it is. I hate wasting food but it is just sitting in the fridge. I honestly wonder if there was something wrong with this batch. I love Gourmet Gang. This is my go to lunch order at least 2x a week at work. The people are always nice and I like the switch up on their weekly specials. My go to is either the Turkey and Provolone Sandwich. It's on a long baguette bread with the best aioli ever. Now the bread is a love it or hate it for most people. Some people say it's too hard, but I can describe it as crunchy outside and soft chewy in the inside. I always add lettuce, red onions and it makes my sandwich complete. I always whine up eating half for lunch and other for dinner. The Cesar salad is huge this too takes me lunch and dinner to eat. The dressing is good! Depending who makes your sale the toppings is little light. For additional cost I always add cucumbers and olives. There has been times I only had like 3 cucumbers! LOL so I always have to tell them please don't be skimpy ha! The only thing that is a bummer is they close early so I would order during lunch hours for dinner. I've been ordering from Gourmet Gang for years and typically order the same sandwich or salad. Today when I ordered my norm sandwhich, fresh mozzarella, and the bread was stale and extremely hard. I called the store (Bonney Rd.) and asked to speak to the manager to make them aware. The manager politely apologized and was quick to get off the phone, but did not offer me another sandwich in replace of the stale sandwich I just paid for and had to throw away. This is a good sandwich shop. I have received sandwich boxes from the Gourmet Gang at work so I decided to come in to the restaurant. It is clean and well organized but you can definitely tell that there main business comes from take out business. The sandwiches are tasty and the sides are okay. The service was great. The sandwiches are well made and meaty. All of the sandwiches are amazing and I will update this review when I receive our next catered lunch meeting. The food deserves a four star rating but the poorly maintained parking lot, sad restaurant decor and seating caused a degrade in the score. The restaurant was meh, blah...a letdown. This is another lunch stop for the gang in Chesapeake. It all started with the smell of a meatloaf sandwich overtaking the cubicles like the old Bugs Bunny cartoons where they grabbed the nostrils and carried you through the building, yeah I have used this before but still it holds true. "The Good" - The Santa Fe Chicken is very good, the rolls are always fresh and they are made to order, which is nice. - The salads are very good. It seems like there is a little more effort than throwing some veggies in a bowl and sending it out... They actually have some substance to them. - The pasta D'Jour was a pasta salad with Edamame, which was very good. - They always try things out and are not afraid of doing something different, so points for being creative. - They have a downloadable menu on their website. "The Meh" - There was a vegetarian sandwich special that I tried the other Friday I was in. I did not care for it but it was personal preference, points for trying it. - The only bad thing about all the specials is that the good stuff does not come back in the rotation fast enough. - They delivery but add a delivery charge to the order. All the teachers received a boxed lunch from a parent today and I was impressed at the size of the sandwich, it came with a cookie, a mint, & chips. I noticed there were several different types of sandwiches: roast beef, ham, Italian, turkey, club, & chicken. My Italian sandwich was ok. So surprised that it says closed today, it is actually opened until 3pm. The food is so fresh and spiced perfectly. A great lunch location if your looking for something healthy and tasty. I got the chicken Santa Fe and it is almost important to keep myself from eating the entire thing. For a side I get the Mediterranean pasta (which if you eat in you don't get charged) which is creamy but not to filling. I brought my sister today and she said it should be our new "hot spot". I always get the greek salad with blackened chicken and ceaser dressing. super fresh ingriedients, huge portions and i love the tanginess of the house made dressing. the ONLY issue I have with this place is I think they need to do a better job of chopping the salad components down into bite size portions so you dont look like a cow when your trying to eat. the feta cheese, croutons (which are delicious) chicken and cucumbers are huge and with the plating it is hard to toss the salad no less cut it up with out overflow. read more
