This review is for Dr. Penner's personal nutritional consultation & services (I haven't had…read moreexperience with the Wellness Center). I found Dr. Penner though an old girlfriend, who moved to Chico form LA. Since I was having some digestive issues and did not want to take standard medication, my friend suggested to me that I do a long distance consultation with the Doctor (either via Skype, or on the phone). The office manager sent me a number of forms to fill out in advance, so when I talked to the Dr.Penner she already had a very good idea of my case. She asked me a number of questions, then she spent quite a bit of time explaining how the digestive system works, and gave me a "basic class" in nutrition. Personally, I was open to Holistic Medicine, and to Dr. Penner's experience -- in fact, I was looking specifically for a different approach from today's "status quo" Pharmaceutical-driven Medicine. I've read some of the negative reviews, and I think the issue with Dr. Penner basically comes down to: whether or not the patient wants to heal & balance out their WHOLE body to eliminate the problem, or just wants a quick fix. For me, the knowledge gained from Dr. Penner helped explain where my issue originated. I got on a supplement regimen, a "protocol" of about 2 months, and began feeling better within a week. Yes, I did invest some money in supplements -- but this is something I do, anyway! (So, I had to spend a little more on my health over 2 months; I spend more on Sushi! And when my mechanic says that I need to spend $ on an oil change, I don't call him a Quack -- what's wrong for a Nutritionist telling you that you need o purchase nutrition? ) Now, almost a year later, my issue is completely resolved -- as side benefits, I also learned how to eat better, and have given my health a stronger foundation.

I went to Dr.Penner when I was 17 because I had really bad back pain (my shoulders were uneven) and I went there ONLY for the chiropractic care and she told me "no, you're also getting nutrition advice". Then the entire first half of my appointment was her just talking food facts at me and ended boldly with her telling me I was straight up obese. At 17. And I was not obese. I said to myself," okay that wasn't what I wanted or signed up for but hey maybe the next part will heal my back and everything will be fine." She then laid hot stones on my back and then left the room for the remainder of the appointment. I had to pay like $200 for that. She's such a joke. I'm almost 30 years old now and I still think about that encounter sometimes. Just how one truly awful and unprofessional lady can change how you see yourself.

After many calls I found mangrove medical. Dr. Williams was taking new patients. It's been 4 years now of seeing Dr. Williams and I guess I keep expecting that he will somehow become a real doctor who cares about more than how many people he can see in a day and how fast he can get out of the exam room.the last appointment was the worst. I hadn't been there for 2 years. He has now decided he is bored with being a doctor and would rather talk to me about how his geese were eating the grass seed he had put on his lawn to cover a spot that had died. That's all he said the entire time. No talk about my blood pressure being 170/63. No questions about anything. I got my meds refilled and then he got up and walked out. Shame on me for putting up with such an incompetent idiot who would rather be home tending to his geese. I have been complacent about finding a new dr. It's not that easy these days but I will be more proactive after finding out my doctor is really a landscaper. He may have been a good doctor at one time but he forgot to retire. I guess he has gotten comfortable taking peoples money and doesn't care about the Hippocratic oath he took to do no harm. Please do yourself a favor and skip going to this clinic. You won't get the care you need.

I had a referral for a colonoscopy with Dr. Williams. After the procedure, though drugged, I still…read moreremember him telling my husband and I that there was one small area of concern, and that he had found a, "colony of polyps". He said he took several samples and sent them to be tested. We would have to wait until Monday for the results-- it was done on a Wednesday. Hubby and I lived four days in hell, planning on the what ifs. He spent much of the time on the computer, learning everything he can about colon cancer and looking for the best doctors for me, and I spent my time planning, first, the vacation of a lifetime, in a literal sense, and second, how to make my passing as easy on him as possible. We both pretended everything was fine, but we were scared. We have both have had to say goodbye to loved ones who died from cancer. Neither of us slept well. Monday finally rolled around, and we went in. Though we got there on time, we waited in the grubby, dim, consultation room for 20 minutes. We noticed the ad on the wall for Becky Williams real estate, and guessed he was advertising his wife's business... in his office. The leaky roof, and the decor did little for our mood. The place is desperately depressing and I get the feeling that the owners just don't care. So, twenty, scary and depressing minutes later, Dr. Williams comes in with an assistant. They barely acknowledge us, and type away on their computers. As Dr. Williams just starts to talk to us, his cell phone rings. Really? Without apology, he answers it. Hubby gives the assistant a questioning look. She quickly looks back down to her computer. The discussion, of which we can hear both sides, seemed to be about home repairs. I'm like, "oh, so sorry, Doctor, if I am interrupting your kitchen remodel with my potential, life-threatening illness, but I would like to know if I am going to be alive in six months." But, after he was finished with his personal conversation, conducted in front of us, he had good news. The "colony of polyps" seemed to have magically morphed into, "an inflammation". Humm. Colony of polyps, and inflammations-- sure, I can see it. They must both look quite a like. Or not. So, five nights of living hell, reduced to an oopsie. My question is, why didn't he simply call me on Friday afternoon when the test results were in? It would have cut our worrying time in half. And why did he say anything at all about what he found, when he could have simply said the he would have the results for me once they were returned from the lab? We won't be returning to this place-- it is depressing and this doctor is not someone who seems to be on my side. But really, I hope we didn't cut into your home repair schedule.
