This was a regrettable experience. Was excited to try out some fish tacos, but was supremely let down. The breading was not crunchy, the fish itself was mushy inside of the breading, and the only real flavorful part what the sauce that was very lightly drizzled on them. Service was very slow, even though there were only 6 customers in the whole place. It has a good location, so it may be a good stop for drinks. Beef tacos are the way to go! There was 3 of us in my party, one of which is a local. He highly suggested the soft tacos, I love soft tacos. He ordered 3 beef, I should have followed his lead but I got one of each (beef, chicken, carnitas) and MY GOODNESS, the beef were THE best! Second place was the carnitas, don't even bother with the chicken. It wasn't terrible but it lacked majorly in comparison in flavor. It's actually very wet from the juice and it didn't help, actually hindered the flavor in my opinion. My boyfriend ordered the chicken burrito and same issue. He ended up eating about half of it and then ordering a hard beef taco which he over loved. Drinks were cheap, major plus. One star knocked off for the lack of service. The sauce was creamy with a bit of cheese but not heavy. DH had enchiladas mole and theu were exquisite. Served w ground beef, the mole was the star. So, I'm giving this place a 2 stars based SOLELY on the super nice waitress and her accommodating manager tonight. My bf and I read the reviews before coming in and we were seriously excited. We wanted good Mexican food and the reviews we read raved about the food being sooo good. We seriously wanted to like the food but it was terrible. We ordered the guacamole, which was runny, had a bitter taste and was overall tasteless. I don't even know how you can screw up guacamole, but it turns out- you can! It was seriously the worst guacamole I've ever had. We ate the chips and left the guacamole. It was seriously so bad that I couldn't bring myself to actually pay for it. I nicely explained to the waitress that I just couldn't pay for it. The waitress spoke to the manager and they took it off the bill, which I gratefully appreciated and ended up tipping the waitress more generously (almost 32%) because I frankly would rather pay the waitress for her time than to pay for that guacamole! We also ordered the beef hard shell taco and the tacos al pastor (3 tacos). Honestly, the tacos were not great and the pork was tough and in slices, which made me question whether it was actually beef. There was too much onion and they literally put fresh pineapple pieces on it. All the other times I've had this, the meat is flavorful, juicy and the pineapple was cooked with the meat. The ground beef taco was not great either. I don't even know how to explain it. Too salty and oily, yet lacking flavor, aside from salty? By this point, the entire meal was pretty much terrible, but I didn't have the heart to tell the poor waitress how terrible it was. And there we were the entire time, looking over at Pizza City and realizing we clearly picked the wrong place to eat at. I'm thinking maybe the food "might" taste better if we were drinkers and had taken advantage of the $13 for 5 Coronas (great deal by the way!)? I guess we will never know. I think this place has the best bang for your buck regarding drinks...mostly Modelo and Corona bucket specials but they have craft beers and a chilled fireball machine. I've been to Chido's a number of times over the past couple years, and it has been a great overall experience with every visit! I usually order the super nachos with a group, which is massive and delicious, and the tacos on the menu are great too. The drinks are pretty inexpensive compared to some other places around. The service has been pretty slow at times, with us sometimes having to go and get the waiter to bring our check, but I'll keep coming back for the nachos and the drinks! read more

Walked by this place coming from Isla Verde and decided to stop by. Our service was slow but our waitress was very accommodative and communicative. They seemed to have a good drink selection. I ordered 2 decently-sized burritos for only $5 each, however both seemed to be made with very low quality. I ate the chicken burrito, but couldn't bring myself to take more than a couple of bites out of the beef due to the saltiness and dryness. My girlfriend ordered a few fish tacos, and they were very cheap and tasty so no problem there. For dessert, we had the Oreo Churro which was pretty good. All in all I would say this is more of a bar than a restaurant, but the atmosphere is very social and makes for a nice spot to hang out after a long day at the sun. Horrible service. I have been living in isla verde over a year and every sinlge time I go to this place it takes 10 minutes or more just to get acknowledged as a customer then 20 minutes just to get a first drink, if ever and it doesnt even matter if they have 2 customers or 10. Last night we went to play pool we requested the bucket special for corona and received medallia. When we pointed out we wanted corona the waitress took the bucket and literally never returned, went to the bar 30 minutes later to ask for the beers, she looked at me like i wasnt even standing there and then went to go stand by the entrance door with 2 other employees and they collectively just stood there for 5 full minutes doing nothing. 2 other people were also trying to order and the barback couldnt help get the bartender or waitress to come take orders either. The nachos are good, if you are willing to go thru the bullshit and wait an hour. we never did get anything to drink in a whole hour. They only got our business at the pool table cause the other 2 spots with pool tables in the area are closed. But never again, will just go to calle Loiza and play pool there and get some drinks and food next time. As for the food- Hijoles right down the road is MUCH better quality, menu and waaay better service. Lupis food is comparable and their service is way better too, plus they play ufc fights and football games on their tvs. read more
