Dining at Harder Kulm is just as much about the scenery as it is the food. The panoramic views over…read moreInterlaken and the surrounding lakes are absolutely stunning. The atmosphere was special, especially knowing you're dining at the "Top of Interlaken." The raclette and cheese fondue were paired wonderfully with the potatoes and bread. Service was friendly and efficient, even with the restaurant being busy. I wish our server taught us how to eat the potatoes with the cheese fondue. We realized too late that there were only 2 small pieces of potatoes in the bag, and there were 3 of us. There was a minimum order for us to get a table. The serving was light. It's a bit pricier than a typical meal, but you're paying for quality, tradition, and one of the best views in the region -- so it's worth it.

Easy Ride, Great Fondue, And Stunning Views" Harder Kulm…read morewas the perfect choice for my wife and I, mountain‑top views without the extreme altitude. The funicular ride up is quick, unfortunately not too scenic, and never feels too high, and at the top the air is cool and comfortable, with no breathless feeling at all. We arrived in september and had very good weather.Amazing sunshine for what we thought would be cold and wet. We ate on the Panorama Restaurant terrace, looking straight down over Interlaken, both lakes, and the tiny homes scattered through the valley. Absolutely breathtaking.I know a lot of people say that, but until you've been there. You can't speak on it. THE GRUB: we ordered the cheese fondue with bread and potatoes serving for one as we don't eat a lot. We also ordered a pizza.I don't remember what it was because I only have pictures , and it was about three months ago. ,and it went down the gullet so fast I probably didn't taste it much. The cheese fondue with bread and potatoes was hot, flavorful, and filling, and the pizza had a crisp crust, melted cheese, and enough toppings to feel like a real meal. Service was friendly and efficient, and we never felt rushed. Bixby we dealt with two step particularly, and they actually seemed interested in where we were from, and what we thought about Switzerland and the restaurant. Harder Kulm gave us exactly what we wanted: an easy‑to‑reach viewpoint where we could breathe(elevation...Hello).,We enjoyed fondue for the first time in any country, and a well built pizza, as well as and soak in one what I would call the best of the best balcony‑style views over Switzerland's lakes and valleys.

Once seated in the…read morerustic wooden table and chairs we were presented with the menus that had some English translations but was primarily in Swiss German. The issues began when the gruff, stressed woman attempted to take our orders but couldn't answer any of our questions as her English was basically nil. We ordered a couple drinks and she returned for out order as we continued to struggle with the menu. She huffed and stood there actually tapping her finger on the table. We asked for the fondue and she asked 2 or 4 portions. We didn't know how large it was so we got it for 4 and it was huge but only came with bread... no potatoes, meat, veggies, etc. as we had heard was traditional. Then she took our menus away as though we were done but we wanted the fondue as a sort of appetizer, not our only meal, especially since it only came with bread. We hesitantly ordered a couple of dishes, beef tongue and a schnitzel plate and it was nothing like we expected . The beef tongue was tough and in a brown gravy as was the schnitzel which I expected to be breaded and fried. Our 2 friends only ordered 1 salad. We really should have left when we realized the communication gap was so problematic but I basically would leave this place for the locals.

It wasn't crowded when we went, it was very laid-back & chill with a few locals in there. Server was super nice, patient, and made us feel welcomed. She helped us out with which options were the best. I ordered a veal schnitzel, which was very delicious and piping hot. The breading was very light, buttery, and crispy. It wasn't oily. The veal was nice and tender. I like that the food wasn't too salty. The seasoning on the crispy fries were also very good. I also got to try the fondue, which was very delicious. To my surprise, it had a little bit of liquor in it, which gave it a nice deeper nuttier taste. The lamb was nice and tender and the accompanying vegetables weren't overcooked. This meal was filling, delicious and for a good price. looking at reviews of other restaurants in the area, there was a concern for quality and service. But this place was a nice cozy restaurant with great service and even better food. I would recommend if you're in the area and want to get away from some of the more busier places .
