My name is Deanna Isabelle, and I'm a 6th grader at HNMS. I'm not going to say this school is…read morehorrible just because it is a school. I will be brutally honest, and I will go through my school day with each of my teachers. I will only use the first letter of their last names. My first period is Mrs. R. She is my advanced science teacher. This class is really nice, and we even participate in the science fair! She wants you to do your best. My second period is Mrs. P with English language arts. She is really nice, and does prize drawings for tickets. I like these tickets, because it promotes good learning habits. You get a ticket if you answer a question she asks. For third period, I have Ms. P for critical thinking (not the same Ms. P). She is nice, and doesn't like too much noice. She has this bell that she rings when we get too loud. At the end of each lesson we do, we have a certification test we do, and if we pass, we get a prize. Fourth period is history with Mr. M. He loves Batman, and he hides a Batman figurine around the school with clues. If we find the Batman, we could win tickets. He rewards tickets if we do something nice, or answer a question. His teaching methods are great and fun. Now for lunch. Sometimes, the school lunch is great (like macaroni and cheese), but for the chicken sandwiches, and hamburgers. The buns on them are so hard! Now fifth period is band with Mr. W. I personally play the clarinet, so that's fun. I don't have any problems with band. Now sixth period is advanced math with Mrs. G- or was. Through this school years, she's been gone approximately 2 months. Now we're getting a new math teacher, but he's starting Monday, March 2, and today is Saturday, February 28th, so I can't judge him yet. Mrs. G was so nice, and wanted the best for everyone. I completely understand why Mrs. G left, for health reasons. Now for overall. The only reason I rated this school 3 stars is from the students and the lunch. I think the dean should enforce referrals for profanities more often. I hear students cuss right near teachers, and they sometimes don't do anything. Thank you for your time, thank you teachers for doing what you do. Thank you all staff! LETS GO BULLDOGS!

We ordered my son a large book order. The books came in but never made it home. Got the run around…read moreand they just expect me to just overlook it. Then we are getting ready to move. I packed my whole house and no books. I send an email to the teacher to get his belongings. She says she will have them ready. I go to pick them up and guess what he has no belongings. Shocker! The last day of school the kids bring home their belongings but if you move, you do not get anything. My son also way diagnosed with a learning disability but does not qualify for any programs. Just wow. Enough said.

I don't know why Yelp lists this school as being closed. My 5 year old gets on a bus to go here…read moreeveryday, and unless she's being dropped off with a bunch of Children of the Corn in some field somewhere, I'm pretty sure she's in Kindergarten. Then again, she *has* been concentrating awfully hard on letter "C" and drawing cornstalks and scarecrows....oh wait, Halloween just passed. Nevermind. She has an awesome teacher. If I thought the teacher would feel comfortable being named here, I would, but with all the cyber gray areas, I'll resist the temptation to sing her praises by name. This teacher is fully engaged with the children. One day my child came in late and was reluctant to join the class and my cajoling wasn't helping. Mrs. _ took command, firmly but kindly directed S where to go when I could not - and blew me away with her adult to child communication skills. I almost felt like turning myself in to the principal's office for being a slacker. I check Little Daughter's book bag everyday and her in-school work is thoroughly checked for mistakes, she is given 'family' homework, regular progress reports, and updates. If I have to email her teacher, I get a response within a day, usually within hours. Once, she had a problem with another studen trying to take her lunch away from her. She came home one day hungry and explained that someone had taken her lunch (she's 5!!!) and she didn't get to eat. My initial response was to go all Ninja around corners and slink down the hall into the cafeteria and get that little 5 year old punk at lunchtime by the collar and tell him if he ever stole her lunch again, he'd better watch his back at recess. Then I realized that was not what a Mature Adult would do, and I emailed Mrs. _ , who had the situation rectified the next day, and Little Daughter out of his target zone. My only gripe is that there is too much junk food at the school. Gummy bears for treats, and the typical crap cafeteria food in every school. But they are trying; they are putting more whole grains out, the kids cannot use their pin numbers to charge ice cream to the lunch account(they have to have cash), so that helps it when it comes to cutting back on the junk. So I'm not deducting stars. Seriously, this is one awesome teacher. And overall, it looks like a great school.
