The hour I spent at this little shed on a back road in central Maine was the best book buying experience I have had in years. Clean, organized, comfortable, and full of things I actually wanted! The fiction section is particularly well-stocked, but I found interesting things in practically every section. I go to a lot of bookstores and it's been a long time since I found so much good stuff in one place, and at extremely fair prices. I've been coming to this part of Maine for years and never knew it was here. I won't be making that mistake again!

Staff have always been friendly to me, and the location always looks clean and organized. One thing the location would improve is the seating area in Starbucks, and installing areas where computer users can plug their items in while conducting work there. I cannot find any outlets that are accessible in the seating areas of the cafe. Remodeling the cafe area to provide more seating options and accommodate customers' needs will attract more business. I am visiting family and needed a quiet place to work, so I stopped in thinking this establishment would be like all the others. Nope. That wasn't the case. 1. Their Starbucks are not associated with official Starbucks's and They do not take the mobile app or gift cards for payment. It was hard to watch the employees cringe when they had to state that 5 times after I walked in to other patrons. 2. No outlets. Zero outlets, to plug into, to do studying or work. I was told the only outlets were along the wall in the book store and I would have to sit on the floor..... because that was the only option for even local students..... unsatisfactory.... 3. They were out of almond milk..... 4. The store is lucky they have really nice employees, otherwise this would have been a lower rating.

It took two weeks and numerous phone that she did not return for her to correct it, and she still would not take responsibility of it or to apologize. Instead, solely for this error that could have been credit card fraud, she denied that it happened and retaliated against me by closing my account. Again, I was not the one committing possible fraud. Snowflake Mary did like hearing of my complaint and their repeated refusal to look into it and respond. I contacted the owner by email about this and he ignored my complaint, which means he approved and condoned of her conduct and the overcharge, If you don't like being overcharged and the hubris of the employee who will not take responsibility, pick another company to buy your music and movies from. The used book selection is not as extensive as I remember but it's curated REALLY well. You will find many books that you have wanted, including very recent used ones. There's also a small selection of new books that also are well curated and always seem to already be on my to-read pile. The staff who work here are lovely and always helpful. It's also decorated in such a curious and detailed way. I notice something new every time I'm there. Follow them on Instagram hellohellobooks for fun. You can get to them on main st by going through rock city cafe. It's okay to bring your treats inside.

I loved checking out the Maine Mysteries section and also the staff picks. The store is well laid out and organized although it would be easy to get lost in here for hours. Personally, I like the way the Falmouth store is laid out more (having so many staff and neighbor recommendations immediately at the front of the store). This Sherman's in Topsham feels like it wants you to do your own exploring; it's cleverly/cheekily organized (make sure to look at the bookshelves titles). We were here for at least an hour just leisurely looking through the bookshelves, before making another lap, and another... I'm sure we could have been here even longer, and no one would have minded. It helps that they have chairs throughout! From what I understand, this Sherman's does an exceptional job with special orders, so if you're looking for something specific, reach out to these folks! The staff seemed *very* selectively friendly (I wasn't on the receiving end of that warmth, but I watched them have welcoming, neighborly banter with other customers [regulars, I'm guessing]). This is one of those places you WANT to sign up for their rewards program: you just need to give them your name and phone number and for every $200 you spent you get $10 a credit!
