We just browsed before our next stop opened for the day but this is a place you could lose yourself looking through the large selection. Especially a huge section of books that focus on Maine and specific areas in the state. A must stop for book lovers who find themselves in the area! We did not interact with the owner but he seemed very knowledgeable and friendly from the few regulars who popped in to see him during our visit. There are fun (and beautiful) arm chairs, benches and other sitting arrangements throughout the store, which invite you to browse and browse to your heart's content. Books are well organized + ridiculously well priced. The owner (originally from near Boston) is dog friendly, people friendly, very well read, and absolutely wonderful in every way! I believe they host a wine bar in the evenings (based on a quick glance at a sign on the way in), but call to double check details. If I lived anywhere close to here, I'd be by all the time. I'd want to be best friends with the owner, drink wine and read for hours, with my dog by my side. Truly a wondrous place!

It is always an adventure to come to this store as you never know what you will find. It can be a little chaotic with books strewn in stacks in the entrance, however, I think that is part of the charm. You may be surprised by a randomly placed book, that you never expected to find. The prices are quite reasonable here which means you can buy a few books at a time! The owner is very nice and always helpful if you are looking for something specific or guidance around the sections of the store. You can always find something here for every kind of reader.
