There are fun (and beautiful) arm chairs, benches and other sitting arrangements throughout the store, which invite you to browse and browse to your heart's content. Books are well organized + ridiculously well priced. The owner (originally from near Boston) is dog friendly, people friendly, very well read, and absolutely wonderful in every way! I believe they host a wine bar in the evenings (based on a quick glance at a sign on the way in), but call to double check details. If I lived anywhere close to here, I'd be by all the time. I'd want to be best friends with the owner, drink wine and read for hours, with my dog by my side. Truly a wondrous place!

It took two weeks and numerous phone that she did not return for her to correct it, and she still would not take responsibility of it or to apologize. Instead, solely for this error that could have been credit card fraud, she denied that it happened and retaliated against me by closing my account. Again, I was not the one committing possible fraud. Snowflake Mary did like hearing of my complaint and their repeated refusal to look into it and respond. I contacted the owner by email about this and he ignored my complaint, which means he approved and condoned of her conduct and the overcharge, If you don't like being overcharged and the hubris of the employee who will not take responsibility, pick another company to buy your music and movies from. We still try to make it to this store at least once a year, if not a few times a year, to support a local business. It is always an adventure to come to this store as you never know what you will find. It can be a little chaotic with books strewn in stacks in the entrance, however, I think that is part of the charm. You may be surprised by a randomly placed book, that you never expected to find. The prices are quite reasonable here which means you can buy a few books at a time! The owner is very nice and always helpful if you are looking for something specific or guidance around the sections of the store. You can always find something here for every kind of reader.

Today was my first visit to this particular Sherman's but my wife's second time. Good location in…read moredowntown Freeport within walking distance of plenty of parking options. I would say that both my wife and I agree to this particular location not being the best of Sherman's. Despite that if you are in the area and looking to support a local Maine bookstore it is a solid enough option. Firstly I will say all the staff we encountered were friendly, the first offering to move out of the way if we wanted to look at books close to where she was at. A second nicely asked us if we needed any assistance and lastly the staff who checked us out was friendly as well. Space wise I think it is lacking compared to some of the other Sherman's locations. Some of the areas felt a little too crowded. They do have everything you would expect from a Sherman's, new and popular books along with classics and hidden gems of every genre. Also stationary, stuffed animals, kids toys, gifts, souvenirs, and more. Prices seemed about the same as other locations and they do have their vast on-sale sections to secure good book deals. I would say if this is the first and only Sherman's you have visited do yourself a favor and check other ones out before fully judging the chain overall.

I picked up what I needed and went to pay and another woman at that register was just as unfriendly as the older woman. Very disappointed as I traveled quite a ways to go to Freeport. I won't be going back to that store anytime soon. Not the first time I have experienced rudeness in this Sherman's ( Freeport)
