Just an update. I reported them to the review board they did not have any "findings" because we didn't have actual injury. Unfortunately I had a negative experience bringing my son to this dental office. The office is really cute, and my son loves their little ball machine with the bouncy balls. My son had an exam in December but they did not do x rays because my son didn't want to put the tray in his mouth. The dentist said it wasn't a big deal and they could do them the next time. In April I noticed a visible cavity on one of his molars and took him in. They did x rays and the dentist said he needed 8 cavities filled, and 4 of his molars needed crowns. I ended up taking my son to my own dentist for a second opinion and he said the x rays from Children's Dental Fun Zone were too blurry to even diagnose anything. He took his own x rays, and said he saw some cavities but they were fillable. No crowns needed. I saw a few other parents have a similar complaint that this office was pushing work that isn't needed, so I'd caution other parents considering taking their children here. read more

I took my daughters for their check up and they loved the staff and the office! My two year old was a little nervous but the dr and assistant made her feel comfortable and they were able to do X-rays and cleaning. The kids also loved the jungle theme animals. read more

If I could give no stars. I would. I'm my kids and I used to love this place. They are now pushing pretty invasive treatments for no reason. Maybe to make more money. Pushing hard that my 7 year old son had to get 4 crowns and a tooth pulled. The hygienist standing there was even shaking her head and saying no. But that dentist said that she's the one that makes decisions and he has to get all that done. I went for a second opinion somewhere else. And he has ONE minor cavity. Everything else is perfect. And from talking to other mamas. This seems to be the trend here. Very disappointing. Don't take your kids here. read more

I highly recommend you to consider this dental place for your children. I was amazed how attentive and friendly their staff members are. They are 110% amazing. My daughter recently had a major oral surgery and had to be sedated. But Dr. Camilla and Dr. Targ (anesthesiologist) made everything so much better. There like the icing on top of a cake. Dr Camila is wonderful. Everyone here is very patient and friendly and professional and excellent with children. I was able to get an appointment same day for my daughter who had her first loose tooth and it was really bothering her. My daughter had a lot of anxiety but the tech who pulled her tooth was so good my daughter was giggling immediately after her tooth came out. Not one tear or even a grimace... I'm still in shock about her reaction. Dr Camila didn't just send me on my way, she sat down for a few minutes and explained what to expect with this new phase (losing&growing teeth) We drive out here from Pleasanton. Our family LOVES this office. They are fantadtic with kids, honest and very good at what they do!! I had my son put under mild sedation here for root canal? He drank some stuff that made him loopy, and bam that was it. He doesnt remember it at all and loves the dentist. Yes there was an accident with another child but they give you all the warnings prior and an actual anesthesiologist is briught in if you put your kid all the way under. As with anytime a child goes fully under, there are risks, especially if it is the first time. But she was fully cleared of any wrong doing and is back at the office. It was an unfortunate incident but not one that was preventable. It was a childs reaction to anesthesia. So dont let that keep you from bringing your kiddos. Weve been going here for 6 years and wouldnt dream of going elsewhere and has same procedure done on our kids. read more

Simply put the Dr. Camilla, and her staff at Children's Dental Fun Zone are truly the best in town!!! I have 4 children 17,15,10, and 2 and they all love and trust her. My kids have had a total of 3 cavities they never cut corners or rush you out of the office. They always take the time to explain everything to the parents, and kids. If you don't take your kids there you doing them a disservice and truthfully you'll end up regretting not going there sooner!!! Warning!!! Make sure that you ask specifically if they are in your dental insurance network. They let me give them all my info to make a appointment and only told me when I asked to make sure that they are in my network to which the answer was no we are not. They were going to see us even though they don't accept our insurance. That would all be out of pocket expense. That does not seem like a honest way of running a business. Called Alameda pediatric dentistry and the first thing she said before scheduling us was let me make sure you are in our network. Which we were thankfully!!! read more

Good afternoon mamas. I just wanted to give you a heads up. I took my daughter to Children's Dental Fun Zone and they told me she had seven cavities and it was going to cost close to $600. So, I decided to take her to my dentist (of 20 years) to get a second opinion. He said she has two small cavities (neither of which would even need to be drilled) and she only needed one filling. I don't know about all of you but I sure don't have $600 to throw out the window and not to mention they were going to sedate her and everything. Which is scary in itself. Wow not sure who was learning how to potty in the cheerios in that last review, but anyway... The staff are friendly, encouraging and VERY supportive. I never heard anyone dispute a bill or insurance issue, except where they come in and have no idea what insurance they have, no idea what copay's etc.. In those cases, that's YOUR fault, come prepared folks, I am sure it makes everyones job much easier. With that, I wouldn't care if I had a dispute with $$$, that is between myself and the dental office. My kids health is #1 and this is where the Fun Zone excels! My son (6) LOVES going to the dentist now, no arguments and he even cheers!!! What more can you ask for!? My 2 year old even enjoys the place! This place is wonderful for kids. Everyone there is so friendly and Dr. Borrero is extremely pleasant to deal with. On our first visit there my 5 year old son was quite nervous just walking through the door and the dental assistant noticed it right away. She came from behind the counter and greeted him at the door. She proceeded to give him a tour of the office, showing off the fish tank, video games and let him pick a Disney movie to play. I was really impressed and raved to my wife about the service they provided. I subsequently had my 6 year old daughter go there to have a filling done and she told me that this was the best dentist ever. She was really excited about the goodie bag she got afterwards with little toys, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Where was places like this when I was a kid? I had an HMO insurance provider and was bummed that they would only cover my kids at this dentist until they turned 7 and then I would have to change them to a different provider. This led me to change my dental insurance to a PPO coverage which now allows them to be cared for at this location until 16 yrs of age. This is the only place my son felt comfortable and let the staff perform a thorough examination. We used to go to First Step Dental but after being kicked out of their practice for not wanting to go the general anesthesia way I found Fun Zone. Not only will we be saving over $6k. Dr. Patti is willing to use oral sedation to perform the fillings. The staff was very warm and welcoming. All 3 of my little ones will now be seen here and I will refer everyone I know to them. LOVE this place! We drive from Modesto just to come here. Dr. Borrero & all of the dental assistants have been so great with my 3 & 4 year olds. The waiting room has a huge fish tank that immediately caught the attention of my boys. Toys, TV, Stuffed animals... I wish going to the dentist had been this fun when I was a kid! My daughter went here we were told she had 4 cavities and needed $1114 worth of work. I took her to my dentist for a second opinion and she has only has one cavity that will need minor fixing. I do not have over $1,000 to spend on unnecessary fixes. My daughter will not be seen here again. read more

I recently moved to Tracy and found this dental zone. The 1st appointment was with my 4 yr old and 11 yr old. They were wonderful and on time. I scheduled our next appointment before I left for 6 months out. When I arrived for the next appointment 6 months later, the waiting room was full. After waiting for 30 min with no end in site I finally started talking to the other parents. We all had 4pm appointments and it was now 4:30. There were 5 kids waiting including my two. After waiting 45 min I asked to reschedule. I was told that it was always this busy and that it didn't matter which day or time I came in. I am now looking for another child dentist. I would not believe how rude the front desk receptionist was and unwilling to help. It's too bad that they do not respect busy parents time. read more

Dr. Borrero is amazing, but unfortunately I will be looking for another dentist because of her HORRID office staff. They had no problem cashing the FAT insurance checks they got from our two insurance companies, but somehow there was a small balance leftover. Instead of calling me, they sent me to collections! When I called them, they told me "it wasn't their job to call all the patients that owe them money." Really, then what is your job? I paid the bill right away and just recently I got an email encouraging me to book an appointment. So, I responded and got a terse email telling me I still owed them money and they wouldn't see my daughter until it was paid. So I called and guess what - I guess it's not their job to update their files, either! Until Dr. Borrero cleans out the rubbish in her office, I will find another pediatric dentist. read more

I called to cancel spoke to another dentist and she gave me another procedure that takes 1 minute to do and was 10% of what they wanted to charge me. After hearing what happened in the paper it is unfortunate that this happened. My daughter had to be sedated when she was 4. She is 9 now. I didnt like the fact that i couldnt b present but i trusted they knew what they were doing. I was last there in August and i was asked to sign a waiver form...which i thought was odd. We were there for a cleaning only. I signed it and now i know why they had is do it. I will be looking for another place now. I loved their staff, but when things happen like this there is a reason why people will stop going to such a place. read more

The dentist is soooo lazy, cruel, & greedy. She did not want my young daughters to have work done on separate ocassions. She wanted to sedate her & do the work done all at once. Not only that she makes sure u sign that u wont sue her *ss. & u cant go back there to see wth she is doing to your child. She's shady to say the least. The waiting room is just show and i learned dont judge a book by its cover. The teeth cleaning was all that this place is ok for. She was so anxious to squeeze every penny from my insurance. Her staff properly staffed for her greedy self. Some dentists are greedy so i had to look elsewhere. Thank goodness I found an excellent dentist who actually cares about my daughters' well being. really nice place for kids to do general cleanings without any teeth issues. They are eager to fill cavities that could be watched over time. They also typically use a papoose and sedate children for simple cavity feelings. Parents aren't typically allowed in while the cavity is being filled. I plan not to go back due to the fact that they papoose kids, sedate them, and don't allow the parents in the back. The front office staff is very unwelcoming. The coordinator of payments and scheduling is so rude and heartless. The doctor was lazy. The only good thing was the dental assistant. She was wonderful. This place wanted to sedate my son and do all of his work at once. I expressed to them that I was very uneasy having that be the first option. I suggested the use of laughing gas along with the numbing and we would work per quadrant. They refused! They said it's too much work and easier to have one appointment instead of 3. I don't think that should be their call. I am paying regardless. They need to stop trying to take the easy way out and stop making sedation the first option for children. It is very dangerous and many children have died from it. Just Google children's dental sedation and you'll see the countless horrific stories. BTW my son was excellent at the examination and they had no reason to suggest the sedation. read more

I have been bringing my kids to this dentist office since 2010. I have 4 kids (9 and younger). They all love coming to the Dentist because of the staff, the office environment, the goodies at the end and most of all- the Dentists. Dr. Borrero calls my kids "my Princess", "my Sweets", "my Angel". Who wouldn't want to be greeted with such endearing terms? In the last 5 years we have had many scheduled 6 month check-ups. We have left some 6 month check-ups cavity free- hallelujah!! But, we have also left some with a comment such as, "let's keep a close eye on these teeth; I see a tiny shadow, but it is a baby tooth that will be coming out soon, so I don't want to bother with it right now!" We have also had a "my brother knocked my tooth out" visit, as well as visits requiring a moderate amount of dental work- two of which required sedation (2011 and 2012). Regardless of the visit, I feel Dr. Borrero and Dr. Kaur always have my kids' best interest at heart! The BEST part for me, is the Dentists talk to the kids like they are kids and the adults as such. At the end of every visit, while the kids are occupied getting their bag of loot, the Doctors take me aside to the screen with x-rays and explain in detail about each of my children's teeth. The time they spend with me explaining my children's teeth make me feel like my child is important. They don't rush us out to move on, as I have experienced before in other offices. I highly recommend this office and these wonderful Dentists to all my friends with kids! My sister-in-law even drives my niece and nephew from Oakdale because these Dentists are worth the drive! read more

Dr. Borrero has gone over the top to insure our autistic son is made to feel comfortable and let both my wife and I stay with him the entire visit. I'd taken my daughter to the Childrens Dental Fun Zone once in the past, it was a pretty decent experience. While the front reception staff was cold and uninviting, the nurse in back was incredible with my daughter. On the other hand, I'd scheduled her follow up appointment weeks in advance; got the confirmation reminder last night, only to have the front office call me 30 mins prior to the appointment to tell me they would need to reschedule the appointment. This appointment required me to 1. organize my entire day around this appointment 2. run around the entire morning in an effort to make the appointment on time 3. take time off and away from work to pick up both my children from separate care givers, therefore losing money. When I called to see if they were going to be able to reschedule for later on in the day, they said, no, they couldn't see my kids again til next week! Are you serious? You can not be disrespectful of peoples time! If I was capable of running all around town to make the appointment, ON TIME, because I AM respectful of the doctors time, don't you think they should be capable of doing the same? I would have waited if necessary because things just needed to get done. Not only that, but I was offered no apology, no real concern for everything I would have to do AGAIN to make it to the appointment... this is very disappointing. Needless to say, I went ahead and was able schedule a same day appointment with my doctor over at Tracy Smiles where they also offer a childrens dental. Thank God there are true professionals out there who know how important it is for working moms to get their kids in to their appointments, and have a mutual respect of their patients time, which we all know these days is invaluable in the work force! read more

Dr. Camila is the best pedodontist in the area! It is well worth every penny spent or should I say the best investment I could of possibly made as a parent! It is a beautiful office with friendly, professional and caring staff. We absolutely love this office. I mean who doesn't love the jungle theme right? My daughter loves running up to the fish tank to find Dori and Nemo. You cannot beat the price with sedation included. I work in the Dental field and I highly recommend this office. I love love love Children's Dental Fun Zone! I recommend them to all of my friends. I have a 5 and 6 year old. We have been seeing them since we moved back here a year and a half ago. My kids love everyone on the staff. I have taken my children to the dentist for check ups since they were 1 year old. My youngest had a horrible fear of dentists until we came here. I have never had a problem with the billing portion of it. Nor have I ever had a an issue with anyone on staff. I really think they are amazing and we will continue to see them! read more

I honestly LOVE this place. We took my daughter here for the first time in February. They entrie staff took me by surprise with the level of kindness they had. We scheduled a procedure with Dr. Kar. She is amazing. Her knowledge of her practice shines along with her love for children. My daughter loves her and looks forward to seeing her again.
