This dental clinic is terrible. Last time, my son and daughter had braces, and when they finished, their teeth were crooked and not aligned. When we went to ask, the doctor said it was due to the jaw. I proved it wasn't the jaw, so the doctor switched to saying it was the teeth. I showed him that before the braces, my children's teeth weren't like that, but the doctor blamed it on the fact that they had suggested extracting teeth earlier. I told him that he had said he would see if it was impossible to do it, and if not, he wouldn't. That's the dentist's job; he knows what should and shouldn't be done. He's still ignoring it and hasn't made any adjustments. After the braces, their teeth look worse than before. The worst part is that I had both of them treated at the same time. read more

We were referred to NSO by our general dentist, Dr. Tath @ Mossdale Dental. My daughter went through her spacers phase and then just got her braces on a few months ago. The whole process was smooth, and staff are usually friendly and personable. However, my only gripe is that I wished they had more availability. Their schedule is usually tight and books up quickly, leaving very little room to reschedule for emergencies. The office does offer payment options and take Care credit as well. I like that they offer patients an area to brush prior to being seen. They take care of explaining things in a way that is understandable and after care instructions and recommendations provided are easy to follow. If I am going to spend money on something that my child needed especially expensive oral care, I'd rather spend it on a business that provides excellent service. So far, this exceeded my expectations since I already knew that my child will need braces in the near future. They set me up with a plan to better understand his oral needs and started him off in the right path, and they worked with me financially. After three kids and my constant teeth grinding my dentist noticed my teeth shifting. So, he suggested a braces consultation. From the calling about the consultation to my most recent appointment, Dr Hu and his entire staff have been very helpful, informative and professional. They helped me figure out how my insurance benefits work and what type of orthodontia worked the best for me. During the pandemic I found myself running out of bands and they were able to send me some through the mail. The whole experience has been the best I could hope for. I even have my daughter coming to see Dr Hu. She's been in braces for about 5 years now. After we moved from the East Coast, I went with another orthodontist first and regretted it right away. After only one visit, Dr Hu has been able to help her out (she has a very difficult problem) and we've gotten more from her visits with Dr Hu than we did with any previous orthodontist. I have also taken my 10 year old to see Dr Hu for a consultation. Since we are in the pre-orthodontia stage, this was merely for getting a game plan together since we know my son is going to need them. So we agreed actually my daughter agreed! WELL.. I'm so glad we did! This contraption so worth it! I could see a difference within the first few months..I honestly couldn't believe how much her upper jaw widen and upon belief more room/space in between her once crowded and over bite upper jaw! Visiting an ortho for the first time was nothing short of an amazing experience. Their front staff is so organized, they have follow up and follow through. No waiting. State of the art technology for a clinic existing for some time in the city of Tracy. Dr. Hu is very pleasant, thorough and very concise with his approach and recommendations. His clinic assistant, Mei-Ling was absolutely professional, proficient and well-versed in what she is doing. It was overall, such a great experience to be under their care. I am a new patient of Dr. Hu, but I did know of his office before this initial visit. He was so kind and generous to donate an electric toothbrush and gift certificate to George Kelly's Fall Festival. I happened to have won that basket and he said the certificate was money that went to the school of my choice...even better it went to my 5th grade students classroom last year. I was so thankful that he donated those generous gifts to our school! A year has passed and I wanted to inquire about my teeth shifting after many years not wearing my retainers after I got my braces off (20+ years ago). His staff was so kind and welcoming. I'm sure they saw that my teeth were pretty much straight and probably didn't need much ortho work, but they still treated me as a patient that had something that needed to be fixed. It turns out, with all their up to date technology and x-rays, they were able to see that my teeth had some other issues that I didn't even know was causing my shifting. The initial appointment takes about 45 min-1 hour because they take photos of your mouth and even face/jaw, x rays, and project them on a big screen in a private office so they can show you what they see. Then, they talk about possible plans that they can create to help with your specific issue. Never did I feel like they were pushing me for money...I truly felt that they were sincere in their practice and they were simply doing what was best for me as their patient. They did the cost breakdown of everything and did offer options that would cost extra, but they did mention that it was totally optional. I ended up needing invisilign to help shift my teeth back to where they should be, and Dr. Hu had me come in one more time so that his office could get teeth molds ready for the invisilign company. I know that I had teeth molds done before where they shove a ton of clay stuff in your mouth to the point of it being uncomfortable, but NOT at New Smile Orthodontics:) Dr. Hu has invested in his office and it shows, because he does NOT do the nasty mouth molds. Instead, they scan your teeth with a disposable wand and it takes digital images of your mouth. No pain or disgusting stuff in your mouth whatsoever!!!! Also, on a side note, he did have a clean and modern facility that even had mood lighting in the room with great music from Pandora. I highly recommend Dr. Hu!!!!! read more

We've been blessed to have Dr. Nelson Hu and his staff in our neighborhood. We've known him for 15 years. He's my eldest son's first orthodontist and we have never looked anywhere else ever since.
