We have been a Children's House family since 2022. Our son joined the infant program and is now moving on to public school. Out of all of the schools that I toured back in 2022, CH was immediately the warmest and most inviting. While they are a faith based school, they are welcoming to all. Every single teacher is full of love to give while also providing structure and consistency. We have been so blessed to have a safe place for our son to go each day, and are sad to leave. Every day has been a fun experience for him with lots of enrichment and just getting to be a kid. Ms. Deanne is a wonderful, compassionate director and really gets to know each family. Many teachers have been at CH for several years and their dedication is clear. Kudos to Ms. Mandy, Ms. Michele, Ms. Jessica, Ms. Cam, Ms. Karen, Ms. Laleh, Ms. Debbie, Ms. Katie, Ms. 'Cole, Ms. Roxie, Ms. Diana, and Ms. Adalie. Our son attended CH for almost 10 months. We saw meaningful growth in him during his time here and there was a lot we liked. With that said, I'm sharing this perspective because it is not reflected in other reviews and may be helpful for some parents. This is a structured, routine driven program that may work well for children who naturally adapt to that environment. However, for younger toddlers (especially boys), we found there was less flexibility. Our son experienced some behavioral challenges, as well as a phase of biting, which began during his time at the school and was also an issue for other children in the classroom. At the school's recommendation, we enrolled our son in therapy. We listened to the feedback, took it seriously and followed through on every recommendation. The school also made efforts by bringing forward ideas, trying multiple approaches and working collaboratively with us. His pediatrician and therapists confirmed his behavior was developmentally normal and not a cause for concern. Over time, however, it became clear, based on feedback we received, that he was being more closely watched and corrected than other children. His therapist, who observed him in the school environment, noted that similar behaviors from other children were handled differently and that our son was more frequently singled out. In situations where another child initiated something and he reacted, he was often the one reprimanded. We also felt the increased attention on negative behavior may have unintentionally reinforced it, creating a cycle where it was heightened rather than improved. Communication was limited. The app provides a photo or two, but there was little information beyond that. We also experienced other concerns, including our child's situation being shared with another parent and a noticeable shift in how we were treated toward the end after we shared we were exploring other school options (felt like we did not have much of a choice). Interactions became distant, which made the last couple of weeks unnecessarily uncomfortable. We paid on time, participated in classroom events and sign ups, gave classroom gifts and recommended the school to friends who ultimately enrolled. Despite that, we never felt fully welcomed. This may be a great fit for families whose children naturally align with a more rigid/structured environment. For younger children who need more flexibility and support through typical developmental phases, it may not be the right fit. Structure is important, but at a young age, freedom and flexibility is equally necessary for children to feel supported as they grow. read more

I spent months trying to get clarity from Children's House Christian Preschool as to why my child's behavior slowly declined. I wasn't told there were issues for a long time, and when I finally was, the only solution offered was to talk to her after school. A three-year-old can't process a conversation about something that happened hours earlier... there was no real in-the-moment teaching happening. When I pressed for details about hitting incidents and what the immediate response steps were, it took several attempts before I got a clear answer. Pickup always felt chaotic, the environment wasn't calm or structured, and the food was mostly frozen meals, canned vegetables, chips, and cold tortillas straight from the bag. (One day my daughter had made a mess of her taco and shredded the tortilla into pieces, so I tried it myself sitting right there at the tables and it was never heated, total cardboard.) For how expensive the tuition is, it felt more like basic daycare than a preschool. No real skills were being taught, and despite pressing multiple times for an actual daily schedule, they never provided one. As I started asking more questions, the staff became noticeably distant (I later saw mentioned in another Yelp review too). My child consistently said the same teacher was mean, and it felt like she was being singled out. When she acted out, she was redirected to a puzzle, which happens to be her favorite activity, so it was actually reinforcing the behavior rather than correcting it. The director eventually hinted that I should speak with her pediatrician about her behavior, implying she might have special needs. But I knew she wasn't, I just had an uneasy feeling.... I moved her to a new school about a month ago, and the difference is unbelievable. I described the most extreme behaviors to the new director, not the best-case scenarios expecting the same reaction BUT she said it all sounded completely normal for her age and totally something they could work on. Her new school is calm and structured, and my child is thriving. Her behavior at home and in public has improved dramatically! She's now at a pre-K through 8th grade private Christian school at nearly half the cost of Children's House, and the difference in organization, communication, professionalism, and resources is night and day (no grocery carts hauling lunch food across campus). Looking back, it's clear the issue was never my child. The glowing reviews may reflect support from church members or families who simply haven't experienced other options to compare. We have been a proud part of The Children's House Preschool family for the past 8 years, with our children starting in the infant/toddler center. Watching them grow up here has been such a gift. The staff is truly amazing, caring, patient, and dedicated, and we didn't fully realize the lasting impact until our kids entered elementary school. Teachers there were quick to praise how well prepared they were: they knew how to follow instructions, thrive in a classroom setting, and had an academic head start, from writing their names to building strong learning habits. We are so happy we found The Childrens House Preschool. We toured so many places around the area and this was the only one that "felt right." Our oldest daughter is 2 and she LOVES going to school. We always ask her if she likes school, her teachers, and her friends. The answer is always yes and she gets so excited. I like that they emphasize on getting the kids outside because kids need unstructured play and they need that Vitamin D! Moreover, the staff and Ms. Deann have been incredible with helping my littlest one transition to daycare. She requires a bit more care, so I was nervous to have her start, but it was the best decision. We all worked together to get her settled and everyone has been so patient and kind. We have been at Children's House now for over 2 years and its been amazing watching my son blossom into the little boy he is today. They truly put so much love and work into their kids and it shows! This isn't just a place to "watch" your kids- they are always actively teaching them whether its shapes, numbers, alphabet, or scripture/hymns. They always have events and special guests to help entertain the kids as well. This year they had all different kids of professions come in and show the kids what they do (dental assistant showing the importance of brushing teeth, medical assistants showing how to use a stethoscope, and even firemen and police officer visits! My son talked about the fire truck for weeks!) They also have school programs twice a year for the kids to put on a performance and sing about the Lord. They have a great outdoor playground area- my son always comes home with shoes full of sand! Around Christmas time, they will put on fundraisers and get new toys for the classrooms and the kids get to open the "presents". It's truly wonderful. My son has grown attached to all of his teachers- he even likes to say goodnight to them before bed! THAT is what you want from a childcare provider! Someone who will love your child as their own and teach them about God and his love. I couldn't be happier with Children's House and the staff- they are really extended family for us. We have been at The Childrens House Preschool for over 2 years now and have loved our experience here! My daughter has grown and excelled not only academically but socially as well and it has been such a joy to be apart of this school. My son attended this school in 2015-2016 and I never wrote a review, however I was just talking to someone who also had a bad experience there and I was reminded that when I checked the yelp reviews there were no red flags so I feel the need to leave this to share my experiences here. The Director and I didn't mesh well. She corrected my parenting multiple times and did not seem genuine or nurturing. My sons first week he was 2 years old and as all kids, the first week can be hard to adjust. The teachers should be nurturing and hugging them to provide reassurance, right? I stayed to watch one morning through the window and they let my son cry for over 8minutes while the two teachers Chatted and ignored him. Honestly they looked like they probably never were nurturing to the kids, but I can't say for certain. I also had a few questionable issues- one day I showed up early and a teachers boyfriend was in the class and helping the kids pick up toys. When I arrived the teachers were nervous as though they had been "caught" and started explaining that the boyfriend and teacher were heading to vegas for her birthday and she was getting off early. It was probably innocent but still very inappropriate for a family member to be at their spouses work inside of the classroom, let alone that they are not background checked. Lastly on multiple occasions the teachers were not watching the kids on the playground. I would watch them drinking their Venti Frappachino's looking down or making eye contact with each other and never on their feet. My new school teachers interact and are never sitting when I come out to the playground ( They sit in the classroom when their is mor control). I came to pick up my son and saw a little girl licking the wood paneling on the side of the building....I was like NO way, I'm so done with this place and pulled her away from it and then removed my son the next day. Too many Red flags to make me comfortable I should have removed him earlier. read more

We can't say enough good things! Moving here from the East Coast finding daycare was our top priority. The staff immediately took to our son and has transitioned him perfectly at each age level. I have two children attending Children's House who are in different classes. Both rooms are so wonderful to my kids. They are calm, patient, supportive, understanding, knowledgeable. I could go on and on. I drop my kids off and they are excited to go and I've even had times where they didn't want to leave when I pick them up. They have so much fun and learn so much everyday. My son went from speaking one or two word sentences to singing full songs in a matter of two months. I could not be happier with the level of care my kids are receiving. The teachers really seem to love my children and I think that is what makes me so comfortable leaving them every week. The quick hits: A school with a solid history in Orange. Very reasonable rates, which drop as your child graduates from infant room, to 2-year-old room and again when potty trained. The school offers a full-week, three-day week, and two-day week (and half days, too). Day camp is available for school-age kids. You also can waive a week of payment for vacation every 6 months (a very nice savings!). Lunch and snacks are provided for preschool-aged kids. My daughter has attended Children's House since she was 3 months old. The infant room was a wonderful, nurturing space, where she got a love of love from her teachers, learned to walk, sign for food and much more. We transitioned to the 2-year-old room where my daughter quickly took to potty training. I will be forever grateful to those teachers for helping my kid get out of diapers by her 26th month of life. (And a note to parents: This was not a mandate. They encourage the kids to use the bathroom. Pull-ups are recommended, and the teachers work carefully to gauge the interest of the children.) Your rate does go down when your child is potty trained. I really looked forward to that! The teachers are all wonderful; many have worked at Children's House for years. When we joined, there were three generations of wonderful women spread across three different classrooms. We are now in the 4-year-old room, also called Room 103, where the children are already learning the pre-K program (alphabet, numbers, shapes, etc.). We're looking forward to the school's summer program, which always incorporates fun events, crafts and playtime for the kids. There is often a waiting list at Children's House, and that's for good reason. While the facility might be older than some, it comes with a lot of great teaching wisdom on top of TLC and the occasional firm guiding hand from its staff. read more

My daughter began attending The Children's House 3 years ago and it has been such a blessing to our family! We are so grateful for all of the wonderful teachers and staff here. A few of the reasons The Children's House stood out to me is that the tuition is also inclusive of daily fresh lunches and snacks which takes the stress of off as a working parent to pack daily lunches (they have a kitchen where they prepare the lunches daily, bonus that my daughter loves her green beans thanks to the Children's House!), they are open until 6:00p, they assisted with potty training, they have a low student:teacher ratio and everyone is so personable and welcoming. Their summer program is also great as they offers events and field trips often that the kids love (children's museums, discovery cube, bounce house at school, water slide day, etc). My daughter not only has a solid foundation for the Lord, she also is more than well prepped to begin attending Kindergarten in the Fall (writes words and loves to write me "I love you Mom" notes) : ) So happy that my daughter has been able to attend, highly recommend!! read more

I went to visit this school for my preschool aged son. Not only were the facilities dirty and unkempt, the staff did not seem very respectful of the children. During my short tour, a teacher started yelling at a little girl right in front of me because she was in the bathroom washing her hands. Cathy & Joy, the directors, are so incredibly loving & caring and always go the extra mile to make sure my kids are well taken care of! Both of my kids have attended this preschool now for over 4 years combined. When I enrolled my oldest I was transitioning from a nanny to daycare and had my reservations. As a family where both of us work, I was looking for a facility that would love my child and one that had a park like play area. The Children's House has provided both. At such a young age I wasn't as concerned with the educational aspect, but I have seen both my boys blossom and grow. My oldest was fully prepared to enter into kindergarten and knew many of the concepts that he has been learning in kindergarten this year. The kids are provided a structured environment, but they are also provided plenty of play time and at this age there are so many social skills that kids need to learn just by playing. They were great getting him adjusted to school and napping. He loved school and did many fun things. Room 3 (3 year olds) teachers were amazing and our son learned so much that year. He loved his teachers and he potty trained, learned numbers, letters and shapes as well as age appropriate bible stories. Around this time my daughter was born and they were all so helpful and caring with them both. As he moved to 103 (4 yr olds) my daughter started in the infant room. Teachers are all amazing, loving, fun and caring. Both kids have always been happy going here and teaches have always been open and helpful with any concerns. Both my son and daughter attended this facility as infants and now as graduates. I cannot say enough about how comfortable and trustworthy this place makes me feel. My kids know Jesus more because of this place, the shows they put on are delightful to experience with the kids involvement. From the infant program to the daycare program, to the director and teachers, I have thoroughly enjoyed my 8 years in total dealing with this place and it comes highly recommended in my book!! I was lucky enough to stay home with my daughter for the first 2 years of her life. Needless to say she was/is very attached to me. I thought starting her in Daycare was going to be a nightmare and take forever for her to adjust. It has only been a month and she loves going to school and waives bye as I leave!! I can't believe how quickly she adjusted. She only goes 3 days a week! Her teachers are so caring and everyone is so patient with new Mommies adjusting to someone else watching their baby! My son attended this school only for a few months but in that time we experienced nothingness but love and joy from these wonderful people. This was my sons first preschool experience, actually his first experience with anyone outside the family. Ms. Amber, Ms. Katherine and Ms. Marta, as well as all the staff, welcomed my little guy with open arms and showed him so much love and affection. In the few short months he attended his vocabulary exploded. He knew some of his ABC's but within 3 weeks he was singing the entire song by himself, counting to 10 and sometimes to 20 (not in perfect order), saying his days of the week (again not in perfect order) and singing a few different Jesus songs/prayers. Unfortunately we have to move to a different city so we have to leave The Children's House. Anyone looking for a great preschool for your little one I highly recommend this school. They are in Orange on Taft close to Tustin. They service 6 weeks to 5 years. I just hope our next school is as impressive as this one. We will definitely miss you all. This is by far the best pre-school in orange. My son attended two preschools before Children's House, and we have visited quite a few other ones. Now my son graduated to kindergarten, and my daughter still attends. I like Children's House because of the care and attention the children get from all the teacher, and even the directors. When I go there I feel like I'm leaving my daughter with her family (not with mean teachers). Unlike other preschools that my son attended (also christian btw), I have never walked in the hallways and heard a teacher yell or speak disrespectfully with any of the children. They truly model to those kids the desired way of communication... My son loves to go there on school breaks for day camp. The Children's House is such an amazing school, I really don't even know where to start! Our kids have been in every "room" in the school (they move up a room each year, similar to traditional school), and every single teacher I have met is so caring and so attentive to every child. I am constantly amazed and hope some of their skills can rub off on me! They love each and every child just as they are and help guide them gently to better express their emotions and learn to talk and understand one another. The actual curriculum is excellent as well. Our kids have learned so much every year, they are more than ready for Kindergarten, and the twice a year singing programs help them develop that important self-confidence at a very early age. I can't thank all the teachers enough for everything they do for our family and our babies. It's such a peaceful feeling leaving them there knowing they are learning so much and that they are loved and cared for so well.
