We've had such a great experience at Miller's Preschool with my son. One of the things we love most is how they encourage the kids to be independent and learn to do things for themselves. They're always keeping the kids engaged with fun activities, daily share days, and hands-on learning with animals, science, math and more. It feels like there is always something new and exciting happening each week. Most importantly, the staff is wonderful. I honestly can't say enough good things about this daycare. From the very beginning, it felt like the right place for our family. The teachers are warm, attentive, and really go above and beyond. They always have more staff than required, so the kids get a ton of individual attention, which I really appreciate. The food is something I rave about to everyone. Everything is homemade, full of vegetables, and just real, healthy food. They introduce the kids to so many different dishes, and I'm convinced this is why my child is not picky at all. They'll try almost anything now, and I truly credit the daycare for exposing them to such a variety of foods. Cleanliness is another huge strength here. The children have separate indoor and outdoor shoes, which helps keep the classrooms fresh and clean. They wash hands at drop-off and sanitize before every meal and snack. My daughter has rarely gotten sick here--honestly rare for a daycare or preschool--and most of her illnesses come from our older daughter who's in elementary school. It's been such a relief knowing how seriously they take hygiene. There's a strong sense of community. The teachers know every child well, and the families get to know one another, too. It feels like a little village where everyone is rooting for your kid. Safety is always front and center--they do regular drills and talk about safety with the kids at least once a month. It's reassuring to know they treat it so seriously. One thing I really love is their share days. The kids bring an object related to that day's lesson--like bringing a bear when they're learning about the letter "B." It sounds simple, but it's been amazing for our daughter. It's helped her find her voice and get comfortable presenting in front of a small group starting as young as 1 year old. It's such a thoughtful way to build confidence early on. The growth I've seen in my child has been incredible. By age 3, they could count to 20 and say the days of the week in both English and Spanish. On top of that, they teach manners and how to express yourself kindly and clearly. Another thing I appreciate is how much they encourage independence. Kids start putting on and taking off their own shoes and hanging up their coats as early as 12 months. It sounds small, but it builds so much confidence and capability. Best preschool in Orange! It's been 6 months since we started our son at Miller's Preschool and there is no doubt in my mind that we chose the right learning environment for him. The owner, Sue Miller, has been an educator for 30+ years. She takes on a child care approach that is grounded in independent learning and action, paired with lots of outdoor activities and field trips. Miller's Preschool is located near Handy Park. The school accepts applications all-year-round but only accommodates 12 kids in total (full-time status) on a rolling basis. It's important to get a facility tour and get your name on the list as early as possible since there could be an opening at any point in time. Why we love Miller's Preschool: Sue and her team are mission-driven and they really live and breathe the mindset, "It takes a village to raise a child." They focus on not only educating the child but also the parents because the idea is that the parents and teachers work as a team to instill values/habits that form good character and reinforce positive behavior. Miller's Preschool provides a structured environment that is balanced with literacy, creativity and outdoor play. The curriculum is thoughtful and lesson plans are intentional. We love that the kids get exposed to everything from alphabets/phonics and numbers/counting to more complex topics like history, geography (map of the world/U.S.) and biology (chick development using fertilized eggs that the kids take care of in a real incubator inside the classroom). The kids even practice presenting in front of one another (share days), which builds confidence and communication skills. The students are learning 'light' financial literacy by creating a personal bank. With good behavior, they use their quarters to earn money for a treat from the neighborhood ice cream truck. Sue and her staff are determined to help every child achieve their full potential. They genuinely care for my son and all the students at the school. I believe we made the right decision with Miller's Preschool. How we learned about Miller's Preschool: I first met Sue and her staff serendipitously last summer at Handy Park. I was with my son (19 months old at the time) and noticed her group immediately! Sue had 9 kids and 2 adult staff with her on the playground. All the kids wore orange t-shirts. Their multi-seat stroller (the "buggy") caught my eye because I had never seen anything like it before. What impressed me the most was the positive interactions between the students and the teachers. The children were respectful and well-behaved, and the teachers were attentive and kind. The kids were also super friendly and wanted to play with my son. The enrollment process: We visited Miller's Preschool a few times before our son's first day of school. Sue recommended bringing our son in every time we visited the facility so he could get used to the space. Based on our experience, here's generally what to expect: 1. Facility tour: Sue wanted anyone planning to drop off or pick up the child to be present for the facility tour. I took my husband and mother-in-law and it was wonderful. We met 3 staff members, observed the students, learned about the schedule and food program, and asked a ton of questions! (After our visit, we wanted to enroll our son so we put down a deposit to hold our spot.) 2. Enrollment packet pick-up & drop-off: We drove out to get the enrollment papers. After filling them out by hand at home, we took the completed forms back to Sue for an in person review. (She'll send you home if anything is missing or incomplete.) 3. Supplies drop off: Before the first day of school, we had to drop off school supplies (the list is inside the enrollment packet). How it's going: We've seen positive changes in our son since he started at Miller's Preschool. The first major change was our son's desire for more independence. Within the first few weeks, he began hanging up his jacket at home, taking off/putting on his shoes, and cleaning up or putting toys away by himself. Now, he tries putting on/taking off his clothes, insists on drinking out of an open cup, and likes to help us carry our groceries. We also noticed a difference in our son's comprehension and language skills. In the first two months, he learned to say his pleases and thank yous, started to sing songs he'd been learning in school, and even began counting past 20 in English. Our son is now 2.5 years old. Recently, he surprised us with a second language by counting up to 10 in Spanish! This post comes full circle for our family. Last year, we were talking to Sue about potential daycare needs--and now, our son is a full-time student at her preschool and thriving with his school friends. One of our granddaughters has been attending Miller's Preschool and Childcare for more than 2 years. Her parents are very happy with Sue Miller and her Staff. We went to visit many times and the place is clean, the food is homemade and the approach is very educative. We are able to follow their activities through pictures and videos. We can also see how happy is our granddaughter attending Miller's Preschool. As far as we know another of our granddaughters will be attending the place soon. Our sons (ages 3 and 1) have been going to Miller's Preschool for almost a year now. When we were looking for childcare we had a list of things we wanted to make sure our children were getting so that would have the best care. When first meeting Sue I felt like it was home. You can tell she has YEARS of experience but the one thing that stood out the most is how her methods were traditional or "Old school". She has taught them so many things at such a young age. Examples, walking through the door and saying hi, taking off/on shoes and placing them where they need to go, opening and closing doors, washing hands and throwing away the paper towels, sitting down at circle time, saying goodbye. This is just the morning routine, and I cannot believe within 1 week the boys had mastered it. They are learning about manners and respecting other children. The boys come home several times week with amazing artwork. They are learning so many things and come home and tell me, "Mom look that's a smoke alarm. Mom, there's a community helper" I mean the things they tell me are amazing! My 3-year old's vocabulary is off the charts. Another thing I want to add is the yummy food, everything is homemade and things my boys would never eat at home Sue has gotten them to eat and they actually enjoy it!!! Sue, and her team also share compassion, you can tell they love their job. The things they have done for the boys are life changing for them. From going to the park, riding the school buggy, school parties, taking train rides, going on the bus, and feeding the animals, has been a blessing to our family. Also, Sue doesn't stop with the child she helps us parents navigate and give wisdom on how to approach things when the kids are home so that it is a full circle of care for each child. Like Family! As a mom leaving my one year old in day care was one of the hardest things I've done. I cried... he cried! Now my son walks in by himself and waves "bye" mom. All of my family has commented on his language, communication, and independent skills. My husband and I are amazed how much he is excelling! Our Son started attending when he was one year old, and by the time he was ready to start kindergarten, he was well-equipped to take on a classroom setting. All of the educational topics you would expect your child to learn and more, from the basics of Fine Motor Skills, ABCs & 123s to more advanced Introductory Spanish, Sciences, & Art. In addition to that, the fun never stops; Crafts, Field Trips, Buggy Rides, Water Days, and Music playing all day long, the kids always seem to be having a great time. My first son started Miller's when he was around 1 YO. At that time, he was a picky eater and did not nap very well, but Sue welcomed my little boy with open arms. When my husband and I met her, we felt comfortable in what she and her staff provides to the kids and the level of transparency she shares. She puts a lot of work and care into the curriculum that the children participate in. I love her monthly calendar because it details what the children will learn, planned activities, and days that are a share day/water day/ etc. Sue also participates in a nutrition program, and she and her staff prepare fresh balanced meals for the children each day. Some days, I wish I could stay for breakfast! My son has now been with Miller's for the past 4 years, and his picky eating and napping has improved! I have also seen my son grow and learn so much while becoming independent. My husband and I are sad he will be leaving, but happy that he is prepped with a great foundation to begin grade school. Our son has been attending Miss Sue's for a year now and he's almost 4. It was our first experience with child care and will probably be our only. Sue is great, she is strict but loving. It's very much like extended family here. The kids get home cooked breakfast and lunch made for them onsite which is amazing!! One less thing to get ready in the morning! She does only take 1+ aged children so we are patiently waiting to send our second kid. She also has great helpers... Miss Salma and Miss Mary have been there the longest and we love them. Such sweet girls who genuinely love the kids. I trust them fully. There are also lots of animals onsite which is so good for the kiddos! They do crafts every week, if not every day. It has now been almost a year and a half since we enrolled our son at Miller's preschool & daycare and what a huge difference it has made with our son's development! The love, care, and education they provide can be seen through our son's increased language skills, social skills, comprehension, and creativity. When you have great teachers it can make a huge difference in your child's development and that's what we've seen here. They learn a lot through art, lots and lots of reading, singing, and dancing. There's animals there also too so they learn how to take care of things. They go on field trips such as the park, the library, and around the neighborhood. The kids are currently learning Spanish and sign language which I think is awesome and it's highly recommended for parents who speak another language to come and teach some words to the kids too which I think is great and very inclusive. I would highly recommend Miller 's preschool. I have had my child there for about a year and we have never had anything but great experiences. Sue provides a clean, safe and friendly environment for the children and she prides herself on getting the kids enthusiastic about healthy foods. She has a knack for keeping the kids engaged every day with activities that the kids really enjoy like share days, but are also very educational. Our last kid has never loved going to school until we started Miss Miller's. We tried a few schools in the area that were not just highly reputable, but where we had our other, children go, and never had had a problem. Our last one, never quite fit in. Now that we are ending our year with Miss Miller, we are sad and our little one is really sad. Words cannot describe how great this place is. We had our son there and he learned so much. This is not just a place that watches your kids. They keep all the kids engaged and learning throughout the day and do fun activities and crafts. We loved it so much that when our daughter got old enough we enrolled her as well. Both of our kids would come home and shock us with how polite and knowledgeable they were becoming. When I would drop them off they would have a home cooked breakfast on the stove and every time I wanted to plop down and grab a plate before work. It is a very secure and child friendly place and we felt incredibly confident and trusting to have our kids there. Sue is awesome and super nice. Our kids absolutely loved her. So much so that we would invite Sue to BBQ's and our kids birthdays among other events. Sadly my wife changed jobs farther south and we had to find a closer daycare. As an adult male the last day we had our kids there caught me off guard and I was so sad to pull our kids out that I found myself shedding a few tears saying good bye. We were all super bummed beyond description. It was a very sad day. Needless to say our new daycare is nothing compared to what Sue provided. I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a daycare. Sue is super experienced and incredibly qualified....Trust me, you will not be disappointed. We all miss you Sue !!!! read more

If I could give twenty stars, I would! Our nearly 2-year-old son has been attending Miller's Family Preschool & Child Care for 6 months, and we couldn't be happier. All of the staff are exceptionally well trained and clearly LOVE what they do! My son has grown leaps and bounds in the time he has spent there - and considering that he talks about the staff nonstop even when at home or on vacation, it's clear that he loves being there and is very well taken care of. I love the diversity of activities offered - field trips, water days, playing with an array of animals (bunnies, ducks, tortoises, etc.) - the staff is very creative! They're also great about providing healthy food options and are able to get our picky eater to eat things he never would at home! We were so nervous about putting our son in childcare for the first time, but we ABSOLUTELY made the right call in bringing him here. Sue (the owner) has also helped my wife and I to grow as parents, too. She has many, many years of experience and it's easy to see that she understands children on a very deep level. The most nurturing and loving school! My son thrived in Sue's program and I am so thankful that I found the school when I did. Miller's Preschool takes the time to really get to know each child and family, and helps each child grow in the way that they need. My son came shy and had a hard time talking, and each teacher really worked with him on helping him. Each child is given the attention that they need, and they work with you as parents to make sure that there is consistency at home and at school. I know that my son is ready for the next step in his education, and I can go there knowing that he is fully prepared. There are days that he would surprise me with something new that he learned at school. When my son started several years ago, I knew that it would be hard going back to work. Sue always took the time to help both my son and I adjust. He went from being a young toddler observing to being the older child and helping the other children. The care that goes into the program and that each child is taught is wonderful. You can tell that Sue really loves what she does and the people that she helps. Miller's Preschool takes the time to teach the kids about a theme each day. They even have a music program once a week (and to my surprise I can even hear my quiet boy singing songs when he thinks I'm not looking). They learn about different animals and responsibility. It is a really well-rounded program. With years of experience, Sue has really helped me give my son a great foundation for the future. 5 stars all the way!!!! Our Son has absolutely LOVED his time at Miller's Family Preschool and Childcare!! This lovely in-home preschool and childcare was referred to us by a friend (who was also obviously very satisfied with the care her son received), so I trusted the source. Our family was dealing with an interesting transition during the Fall of 2016 and we were so lucky to find Sue Miller (Owner) and her staff. Our Son (7 years old) had been attending Montessori School for a few years and while the school was experiencing several new changes, we decided it was no longer a place we were happy with for as much as tuition was costing us annually. We planned to transition our Son from his Montessori School to the Public school near our home during the Fall of 2016. 3 weeks into the Public school by our home, we knew that this wasn't the best option for our Son, so we deiced to pursue a (homeschool) Charter School. Transitioning to homeschooling was easy and so much fun. The trouble came, when it was time to find childcare for a school aged child that was not attending traditional public school. I do work full-time, but have been blessed very flexible days/hours, so I had the time to commit to the homeschool lesson plan, but I still couldn't be home for traditional school hours. We had hit a road block. As excited as we were about homeschooling and being able to figure out my work schedule, we were finding it impossible to find childcare (during the school day) for a school aged child (and couldn't afford personal "nanny" type care). Just as we were giving up hope a friend reached out and recommended we contact Sue. Nothing on her website specifically stated that she was willing to provide care for school age children, but out of desperation, I gave it a shot. I was able to speak to Sue over the phone and then visit her twice in person before committing (even though after our first conversation I knew I was committed). She was so friendly and welcoming and invited us over to meet her, her staff and her many animals (chickens, ducks and turtles) that the kids absolutely flipped over. How many childcare facilities in Orange County also have a very small farm feel?! Granted, these animals are tucked away during the day and only the older "responsible" children are able to help care for them, but what a fun activity that also helps nurture their love and compassion for animals. It was almost love at first sight for our Son! Kids, projects, outdoor play, music (music class every Wednesday with wonderful Ms. Wanda) and animals?! What more could an active boy ask for? Shortly after, we signed our Son up for care at Miller's Family Preschool and Childcare. Although he only attended a couple days per week he so much looked forward to the days he spends with the Millers. Sue (the owner) has AMAZING staff which includes her Son Alan. Brody took an instant liking to Alan and adopted him as an older brother type figure while attending childcare there. Alan is so playful and patient with all of the children and our son was really drawn to him. Being the oldest child that was attending Sue's at the time, our son got to help out with feeding the animals and helping the younger children with snack time, etc, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Our son naturally enjoys being a "helper" and it was so nice that Sue and her team were able to help foster this side of him, which will only help his leadership skills and sense of community blossom even further. He came home each day full of excitement and fun stories and looked forward to the next day that he would be attending childcare. Unfortunately, after a wonderful 10 months of fun at Miller's Family Preschool and Childcare, we relocated to San Diego, so we had to say our good-byes. We've still managed to keep in touch. Sue is extremely friendly and definitely cares about fostering relationships and is willing to put the time and energy into doing so. We would highly recommend Miller's Family Preschool and Childcare to anyone with either young children in need of daycare/preschool or school aged children that are in need of daytime care as we were. read more

Miller's family preschool was an absolute blessing we came across as we were looking for child care. My son went from in home care and due to a move we had to search for nearby care. After touring and over viewing the curriculum Sue provided it was a no brainer. Our son has learned so much in the course of his stay here. He's learned his colors, letters, animals, shapes and much more. The crafts they do with the children are absolutely adorable and I love the monthly calendars they provide for us so we know what is going on each day of the week. The food Sue and staff provide is great quality and they have the best interest in every child that attends. We are so sad we have to leave this school due to unforeseen schedule changes. But I would enroll my son again in a heart beat. He loves Sue and her staff as do we. I highly recommend this school. read more

My daughter attended this daycare for a little over a month. On her very first day she was sent home dirty (as in had old poop on her body that wasn't wiped properly) and with a diaper rash. This happened again after I brought it to the owner's attention. Additionally she was also sent home in clothes with old dried poop on them. Twice. Every time I brought it up, I was dismissed and never apologized to. The last time it happened, we were told that my daughter wasn't a good fit for the school. I couldn't possibly agree more. The owner went as far as to insinuate that I was making it up because it supposedly had never happened before. I can't understand why the response to a legitimate concern about my daughter being left soiled is rudeness and flippancy; I couldn't get out of there fast enough. read more

This review is long overdue. I can't say enough good things about Sue and Miller Preschool. I started my daughter from a large preschool/daycare where all the kids were in the classroom with their own age. It was overcrowded and there were a lot of behavior issues. These cleared up almost immediately when I enrolled her at Millers Preschool. It was a no brainer to also enroll my son. My kids love Sue and the staff. Everyone there is absolutely wonderful. My kids have learned so many important skills there, such as good manners, good hygiene, independence, respect and love for all types of animals, how to interact with all ages, as well as basics like writing their name, shapes colors etc. I love that she puts a calendar that the kids help make every month with lesson plans and events. Every day they have a focus such as letters, numbers, colors. Even things like space, planets and holidays, Spanish and sign language. I absolutely love the crafts that she does with the kids. They are so creative and fun. My daughter is a picky eater and her palate has really grown while there. They serve homemade healthy meals, so kids learn to love real food. Every month there is a field trip which is a great motivator for the kids because they must be on their best behavior to get to go, and my kids absolutely love the field trips. Not many preschools will take the effort to take kids on trips like that and it is of course at your discretion to let your kids go, but they learn so many great things. They get plenty of outdoor time too, which is so important to the physical and mental well being of kids. I would 100% recommend this school to any parent. read more

I have never regretted my choice to send my daughter to Miller's Family Preschool. My daughter attended Miller's for a year. I was very nervous and apprehensive about sending her to a daycare when I had to go back to work, but after speaking to Sue on the phone I had a feeling my search was complete. Her professionalism combined with her warm demeanor won me over almost instantly. Once I met her and saw her facility in person I was sold. You will be hard pressed to find another daycare that maintains the professionalism and warm, family feeling that you get here. I'll never forget the first day my baby girl was in daycare. It was hard for me to focus at work, and it's as if Sue read my mind. She graciously sent me a photo and text messages with updates about the day to reassure me that my daughter was happy and safe. I will never forget that extra act of kindness Sue extended to help me through that difficult day. Miller's became not just a place that I dropped my daughter so that I could go to work, it also became an extension of our family. AMAZING preschool. Our girls were born 2 months early and we needed to find a school that would be patient with their delayed development. When Ms. Sue first interviewed us we could tell right away the passion she has for the kids.The staff went above and beyond to help us when our girls got diagnosed with all of their allergies or if they needed to practice their physical therapy exercises. We appreciated the staff constantly keeping us updated how they did during the day of if they noticed anything out of the ordinary right away. Not only does her staff work with kids on learning sign language and other languages, they help them with becoming independent as they get older. We would give Miller Preschool all the stars possible if we could because that's how amazing they are. We still keep in touch with the owner because she will always be part of family for what she did with our girls. We miss Miller Preschool everyday! read more
