As a parent, the #1 thing you care about when your kid is at daycare is that they are safe. #2 is that they are having fun. My son loved this school so much that often when I would pick him up, he didn't want to leave. My son exceled on so many things since starting this school - at 3 years old he can write every letter of the Alphabet and even say all of his colors and numbers in Spanish! But most of all, my son who used to be painfully shy is one of the most outgoing and social 3 year old I know. I have all of his amazing teachers to thank for this. This school is more then just a daycare, you are treating like family. Again, my son started at 18 months in the room the "strawberries" - which was a great first room for him. He's been in 2 other classes since, and has had nothing but fantastic teachers along the way. We are leaving Goddard to go into our towns public school and we are heartbroken to leave but we are so grateful to have made the memories and friends we made along the way. We will forever remember our Goddard family.

We were drawn to A Step Ahead because of its small class sizes and excellent teacher-to-student ratio, which has made such a positive difference for our son. I'm not sure why it matters that the new owner also has an autism practice. If anything, I see that as a huge advantage. She and her staff are knowledgeable, compassionate, and experienced in working with all types of children. My son, who is not autistic, has absolutely flourished there and is genuinely excited to go to school every day. The staff has been incredibly communicative, accommodating, and kind. We have felt at home there right away. The classrooms are clean, welcoming, and filled with engaging toys, and my son can't stop talking about his favorite part of the day - the staff! He's always asking when he can see Miss Holly, Miss Jodie, and the rest of his teachers! Every child and family has a different experience, but ours has been nothing but positive. We are so grateful to have found A Step Ahead and would absolutely recommend it to any family looking for a caring, nurturing preschool where children are truly supported and encouraged to thrive

He and the classmates that attended A Step Ahead are doing so well in school and I owe a lot of that to Holly and her team. They have helped my child learn independence in the classroom. My child knew how to spell his name, identify all letters, shapes and numbers before entering kindergarten. He also already knew classroom mannerisms and his kindergarten teacher complimented his hand raising, staying in his seats, sharing and participation in classroom instruction. All actions that were reinforced by the staff at A Step Ahead. The staff feels like an extension of our family, they are all like moms and aunts to my kids.

There are also tons of opportunities, they keep growing! They're weak in the sense that they seem to be strapped for cash and offer super low rates to temp/one-off nanny's. You can expect that if someone is comfortable with the following rates, they really needed the money. I really needed the money myself before. For example: temp postings are $20/hr, max $21/hr for the care of 3 children... I found out that the price they're charging businesses/corporations that use their backup services is something like $40/hr....I asked why it was necessary to take a 50% commission and they said it was required to keep the business afloat essentially. To me it sounds like their business model is upside down, similar to Uber taking the majority of drivers' pay. For this reason, I've stopped taking jobs with them. It's extremely difficult to land even an interview for the higher paying part-time, full-time roles. I keep the temp job emails on for if times get really rough because as I said, if a nanny/sitter is willing to accept this low of pay, you can expect that they (myself included) really needed the money. I recommend smaller boutique agencies that I'm also a part of to my friends that ask. They have a pay scale depending on the number and age of the kids, guaranteed meals for longer jobs, and guaranteed rides home for jobs ending late. Common sense stuff. Leaving this review not to be petty, but because I wish I knew before I went through the trouble of reference checking.
