Zadie's Early Childhood Center - Playing in our Infant class!

Zadie's Early Childhood Center

I informed the school of dietary restrictions for my child and also had given all forms required by them prior to starting from the doctor. Unfortunately this allergy was not taken seriously. On multiple occasions my child was served foods that they were allergic to. After the 1st time I was then told that the allergy chart was not up and that there was a miscommunication and it was understood that there were no restrictions for the child's diet. (Even though there was doctors notes in place) I was also told I would have to bring food from home or that they can serve the sides of the day excluding the protein. I was also told that the child would be separated from the rest of the class to make sure of the possibility of the child eating someone's else food wouldnt happen. I thought this would be a good idea but still from then on I was so paranoid that I would remind the staff the day of and call after lunch each time this item was on the menu to assure my child was ok. On the second occasion I spoke to the teacher who ASSURED me that my child did not eat the allergic item. 30 mins later I get a call that my child actually did and was experiencing allergic reactions. I was told that the teacher, yes the teacher was out of the room durning lunchtime and that the aid served lunch and fail to check the chart. With all that being said if you don't want to micro manage your child's school just skip this one. The staff is undertrained and the most important things get overlooked.

I remember how challenging it felt as a first-time parent to choose a daycare for our daughter,…read moreespecially since she was starting at just four months old. My husband and I are so grateful we chose Totri - it has been a wonderful experience for our family. From the very beginning, it was clear that our daughter is loved, cared for, challenged, and engaged in learning every single day. The teachers in the infant room are endlessly creative, patient, thoughtful, and attentive. Because Totri is smaller than many other local daycares, it truly feels like a family. The staff goes out of their way to host special events for the whole community - from trunk-or-treat and spirit weeks to egg hunts - they do it all. Even in the infant room, the teachers take time to craft thoughtful, developmentally appropriate lessons and experiences. I was amazed at how quickly my daughter picked up sign language, her colors, and her numbers. As a Spanish-speaking daycare, Totri has also given her the incredible gift of learning to communicate in both English and Spanish. On top of all this, Totri makes life easier for parents. Their hours are longer than many other centers, they are rarely closed, illnesses seem to be minimized, and the cost is among the most reasonable in the area. The director, Ms. Mayra, is fantastic and very responsive to parents. Totri is truly a hidden gem. If you're a family who values a small, loving community, this is absolutely a place to consider.

The staff is very caring, they always try to go the extra mile for the kids and the parents. They had our back during many snow storms, a pandemic, when our town flooded... The manager listens to parents and always takes constructive feedback into account to improve the day care. They have many daily activities to help the kids develop and grow! Feels like a small family. When our oldest started Kindergarten, he was more than prepared!

Nadia the director helped us figure out a schedule to transition him in before he was full time. Then this was his first time in full time care and all of the teachers were so warm and caring that he was immediately eager to go to school every day. It is a fairly small school so our son was thrilled to get to know some of the "big" kids and eager to move up a class each year. He constantly amazes us with all he has learned at LPP and he loves the enrichment classes he takes like art, dance, science, and music. Since the school is in downtown Maplewood, the kids get to spend outdoor time in Memorial Park, walk over to the library, and explore on walks. We greatly appreciate the great hours as two commuting parents. Most important to us is how we see LPP helping our son become a kind and caring citizen of the world. He loves to "play play play" at school and we see how he is doing that and much more at LPP. Can't wait to send our younger child there when she is old enough!

The curriculum was key to our daughter quickly picking up new verbal and written skills, and the thoughtful music, art, movement and other programs were beloved by our little one. We credit Le Parc Place with helping our daughter grow emotionally as well as intellectually. The frequent communication and feedback from the school's staff was prompt and helpful; the app worked well. We'll be sending our daughter here for summer sessions!

Buzzing Bees Learning Center - Infant Room

Buzzing Bees Learning Center

My son attended Buzzing Bees in East Orange for the majority of the 2019 - 2020 school year.  Below…read moreare a list of pros and cons: Pros: I absolutely LOVED all of his teachers.  His first teacher was kind, supportive, understanding, and supported my son's transition to daycare from home-based care.  His second classroom was the same.  Both of his teachers were caring, understanding and sincere.  My son even developed lasting friendships with his peers! He learned so much in the time he spent there, prior to Covid-19 lockdown.  We will miss his teachers dearly! Cons: The administration at this site is in need of increased professionalism.  A lot of communication has gray areas and is done vaguely, leading to miscommunication, misunderstandings, and tense conversations with the owner.  We have since decided not to return to the center but the manager has decided to keep our deposit, despite our child not attending since the state-wide shut down or reopening.  We clearly spoke about removing him from the roster and that he would potentially have to be on a waitlist upon return because a spot WOULD NOT be held.  We were completely okay with that risk.  Unfortunately, she started singing another tune when we decided not to return and is in turn, holding the deposit hostage. I am extremely disheartened that this was our final moment and experience with the center.  His teachers were amazing educators and individuals.  If I recommended Buzzing Bees of East Orange, NJ to you, I would say please be prepared to communicate and stand up for yourself frequently because the manager will switch things up to her benefit and to make sure she keeps as much money as possible, in any situation- just or unjust. Ms. V- please feel free to respond - I welcome your response.
