Every piece of equipment that we tried to use was visibly rotted and rusted broken handles on tricep push down pads, broken on seat seats, and the equipment was not spaced apart enough so that a person could extend their arms to give themselves adequate space to work out. It seems as though this Planet Fitness hasn't had their equipment exchanged in quite so many years, very outdated and very broken and it's a shame because it's really a nice gym. The members were very pleasant and kind and friendly. But the equipment can really use an exchange.

I had a horrible experience with this LA fitness location. I'll admit at first they were great,…read morethey had flexible plans for a reasonable price which I appreciated. However this gym is not great for any one who actually lifts. The equipment is bad and due to my height some of it didn't even work for me, which is expected for a few machines, but not to the extent of this gym. There is no place to do exercises with a barbell besides bench and squat. There is only ONE squat rack in this gym that is adjustable, the other two, you cannot adjust the safeties which wouldn't work for the exercises I wanted to do. No deadlift platforms or bumper plates. Dumbbells are a mess even on the weekends when it's not crowded. For the cable machines they are little attachments available to choose. For these reasons, I chose to cancel my membership as I realized it be unsustainable for me to complete my workouts here. Trying to cancel this membership within the guidelines of my contract was a nightmare. I was well within my rights to cancel my membership within 3 days of registering. However when I tried to cancel my membership in person they said I can't do that unless I come back when the operations manager is there from 9 to 5, Monday through Friday. For me and most people this does not work as we work those same hours. Additionally, in the contract it says nothing about contacting an operations manager. It explicitly states you can go to the gym you signed up for and cancel your membership. I had to ask for the operations manager phone number, which was just the phone number for the gym. I called the next morning during business hours and was told the operations manager was in the middle of something and when I said I was going to refer to the contract that says I can also cancel by calling, the person at the desk hung up on me. I called back and let them know that I would like the operations manager to call me when she was available and was told that they would tell her but she usually doesn't call customers. Luckily, I called back an hour later and a different person answered and I was able to speak to the operations manager and she canceled my membership in less than two minutes. I would not have been as upset if the people at the front desk did not LIE to me and would actually abide by the contract signed! A business cannot expect their customers to abide by a contract when they will not. Other reviews echo the same experience. I can not recommend this business to anyone and would suggest to go anywhere else for this reason.

Located in the same parking lot as a Stop & Shop in South Orange, Blink Fitness is in a medium-is sized building. When you enter you see the (relatively small) front desk. There was one person behind the counter and he helped check me in manually as the app was having some issues. When I told him this was my first visit he was very kind about offering to show me around if necessary. I thanked him and went to work out. I mainly used the open workout area which had two Bosu balls, plenty of Yoga balls, mats and foam rollers. There was a rack of smaller weights on the side. There were also boxes for jumps and some risers. Overall it was all the equipment you need for a pretty good body weight work out (which I always appreciate). Everything was fairly well organized and clean. I paid special attention to the ceiling tiles as I walked around and did not see any mold (but such things take time to appear if there is a problem). I also used a treadmill which worked without a problem. I was there around 8am on a weekday and there were plenty of free cardio machines. Most people seemed focused on the various weights and cable machines. The locker room looked clean swept and mopped. That said, there was a very curious smell outside the lockers and inside. I've been to plenty of gyms in my time and I know you're going to deal with some funk now and then, but this was something very different. It was bearable but I think they could do with a hit of industrial cleaners on the lockers, floors and shower walls to be safe. Overall I had a good experience and will be visiting this location again.

But I love their yoga studio downstairs.... & aerial yoga is SO much fun. The trainers and owners are all awesome... I've taken classes with Meg, Kristen, Marta, Conor Michael & Andrea. I think you have to try all of their classes just so you could find the trainer whose class best fits you. The owners greet me every time I walk in the door. The warm and friendly environment makes me feel comfortable in a place I usually feel intimidated. They offer trial classes/packages so don't miss out!

I like that the emphasis is on weight training. The instructor goes over the exercises, which are displayed on the screen (short clips that show how to perform them in case you forget). There are 4 stations, and 3 exercises at each station. I've been to other studios that offer similar circuit training classes, and they do a really great warm up here. You start at different stations and rotate every 10 minutes. It's a dynamic class, so you don't get bored. I really appreciated Coach Jabari. He's really personable, and helpful. He monitors your progress/form, and offers really helpful advice. I was struggling through some of the workouts and he gave me a modified routine that was suited to my fitness level.
