Its well organized, there are some new things, but don't expect them to be deeply discounted. You'll probably save 50% off, it's worth it for the new stuff but not so much for the used stuff. Although the clothes look clean, you can get most of those brands and items new and at that price at your local Ross and Marshall's. The women are friendly and can point you out right away if there is something you're looking for. Didn't find anything special or worth buying, I guess it's a hit and miss and visiting often. read more

I've worked in a children's resale store just like this.. The short time I was at Children's Orchard, everything seemed ok to me. I was only looking for maternity clothes this trip, and ended up buying everything that fit me. Unfortunately, they don't have a HUGE selection of maternity clothes but it did the job. I got out of there with a bag full of maternity clothes for $10. I had just bought the same amount of clothes at Motherhood Maternity for $200. I was fairly pleased with my find. The only thing I would change with my experience is the store is a little too full. The racks are hard to go through because the floor is so packed with merchandise. read more

I have never sold anything to the store but I walk away with a purchase every time. I have always found the owners and workers helpful and friendly. And you have GOT to love their Fill-A-Bag sale. I love this place. We go there to get most of my baby's clothes and it is where my sister got most of the clothes for her kids. Its great for finding cute designer outfits you would never want to shell out the big bucks for and you know your kid is only going to wear once. Only problem I have is the hours. Im a working momma so sometimes it is hard for me to get there during their regular business hours. Its also great for getting stuff like used boppies etc at a great price. I was very pleased with all the selections they offered and the cleanliness of the store. It has such a charming feel to it, and the staff was very warm and nice! People use this place for Halloween costumes and that's the only good thing I can say about it. I gave this location four (!) tries. My two biggest takeways are: bad attitude and condescending employees. So that's a shame. Note - Don't ever call. I had 2 separate employees who could not answer questions, who both tried multi-tasking poorly with me on the line and gave me an attitude for calling. One even *sighed and just said, "I don't know. You could come in, but that wouldn't help." How is that an appropriate response to a customer. They seemed genuinely annoyed about basic company questions. (Plus - their re-sale is cash only until they run out. Seriously. Which is not standard re-sale practice in my experience and comes across as very amateur.) They just have an attitude and think they are running some fancy pants kids boutique. (Which is still no excuse for attitude! - cue up Pretty Woman.) It's a curated Salvation Army store with children's items. Pure and simple. If you want cheap Halloween costumes and a decent used high chair - it's fine. If you want 1) parking, 2) employees who aren't checked out to lunch and 3) nice customer service without an eye roll in person or over the phone - please go elsewhere. read more

I've gotten great stuff here, but most of the staff (I remember one person out of possibly 5 including the owner being down to earth and friendly) is condescending, talks down to you, acts as if they can't be bothered. Maybe they don't enjoy being there? Too bad cause I love the things I've gotten. If you go, put on your thick skin and just get in, get your stuff and get out so you don't have to talk to them. There are no Children's Orchards in Los Angeles. I happily make the trip because I always find something unique. The store is roomy, fresh and pleasant. It's sunny and breezy, just like the beach community it's in. The employees and owner are helpful. Best of all, Orchard's is a green company. We should all support such endeavors. I love their $1 sales! For the most part I always find great items and some with bran new tags which make it even better. I've read quite a few bad reviews, but in my experience I have never had any problems with the store or the staff and I have been shopping there for the past 4 years! I love the fact that they have a playing area so I can shop while my daughter is playing and no worries that she will get lost or walk out the store. I have a newborn baby boy and I have not had to shop anymore else and have saved tons of money! One thing I don't recommend is selling your items to the store. I used to buy and sell here quite a bit (4 kids) and I never really interacted too much with the employees or owner, just made my purchases or sales and left. So I knew the selling rules and sometimes they offered a good deal on my stuff sometimes not, but that is not what led to this review as it is a resale store and that is how they usually work. The issue was that I walked into their store at 3:45pm with my 2 small bags and signed in as usual. I then walked up to the register where the owner and her employee were tagging clothes. The owner did not greet me but just looked up at me only to say "we stop buying at 4". I then look at my watch and say "oh, ok, I made it in time then because there's 15 minutes left" and you know what they said?... NOTHING! Absolutely nothing! They completely ignored me, kept looking down and tagging their merch. There was no one else in the store but me, dead quiet and I just stood there for a minute in disbelief, maybe thinking they would look up and finally acknowledge me. Then I follow up with a "hello?" And still NOTHING! As if I didn't even exist. They didn't even have the basic human decency to respond to me. I mean even a rude response would have at least been better than being treated like I was nothing! They just stood there clicking their little price gun and it was STILL not 4pm yet. I turned around, grabbed my bags and left, never to return. You would think nowadays with businesses failing financially left and right, you would be very careful with your small business so as to not lose valuable paying customers. It would have taken about 2 minutes of their time to go through my bags and likely make a profit on items I was planning to shop for, but instead they lost much more in the long run. I have heard many horror stories about this location from other moms in the area and now I guess I finally learned why. The moms that go in there are tired, worn thin and are clearly just trying to save a few dollars because finances are limited. Honestly, none of us want to buy used clothes for our kids, so it shouldn't be too much for us moms to walk into what looks like a quaint little shop and be greeted warmly and treated kindly, like human beings. Because in a perfect world, no moms would be shopping there. And by being rude, dismissive, condescending and all the other terrible ways this owner and her employees have treated people in the past, it robs the integrity of us hard working moms who do have feelings! I know a lot of yelp reviews are written in the heat of the moment, a way for people who feel wronged to vent, and when this happened I was heated, but I chose to wait several weeks to write this review so I could reflect on what happened and how I felt about it after some time had passed. It was wrong how I was mistreated, and it is wrong how countless other moms have been mistreated by this establishment. I know they read their reviews so perhaps they will start to understand that the reviewers are all just hard working moms, human beings who just want a little kindness in our otherwise chaotic worlds. I was just on my way to this store to buy an entire summer wardrobe. I called to ask if they carry a certain size kids clothes. The person on the phone said "of course" in a very condescending tone. I said "ok thank you." Then she hung up without saying anything else. I literally turned my car around and will not be patronizing this business in the future. I really loved this place. The people there are so personable and friendly that they immediately made me feel at home. I am currently trying to buy clothing for my rapidly growing niece, and they (the employees) immediately offered their opinions and helped me along the way. Everyone seems like a family and the store was constantly full of laughter and happiness. It is also very kid-friendly, with the employees cooing and being very aware of the child's presence, not neglecting them or ignoring their presence at all. Two employees, in particular, stuck out to me; they were young, around 17-18 year old Asian girls that seemed so happy to just help out and be kind to me and my niece, who is admittedly a handful at times. I will definitely be back and I'm so glad I chose the place. P.S. It's very affordable. I don't understand why everyone on the review page is complaining. This is not a place to sell or trade your kids clothes - it's just not worth the hassle, time or effort. I went this morning right when they opened, but was told to come back in half an hour (apparently there are later/different times for the buying). I couldn't put my name in or leave my stuff and come back. So I show back up 40 minutes later and there is a line out the door. I literally waited over an hour to have them go through 2 bags of stuff, reject 99% of it and got a $14 store credit. And they don't donate what they don't buy so you have to take back all of it. All in all, I spent from 9:30-11:30am trying to accomplish a pretty simple task that was instead very frustrating process. I've been a few times before and have been similarly dissapointed. As for buying items, they don't have high quality stuff enough to be so picky - it's used and pretty basic brands for the most part. The staff pretty much just responds with "this is the way it is and now you know how it works" attitude. Not customer friendly to say the least. Go elsewhere, not worth your time. read more

i totally understand where the previous posters are coming from when referring to rude snippy short attitude most likely from the owners daughter. she tends to get stressed snd comes off this way. or has been just plain moody to people myself included. THE person who has kept me coming here is unbelievably not an owner but an obvious very loyal salesperson they have been fortunate enough to have. i think her name is melissa shes the busty brunette. hazel eyes very sweet welcoming friendly helpful. oddly she conducts herself and treats customers how the owner should. she goes out of her way. ive seen her multi task on numerous occasions. shes fair but firm example store poliçies and when explaining to customers selling their products as far as prices or why rejected items yet in some cases offer suggestions or inform of other options. I'd give 5 stars however quite a few times items are priced a bit too high (then again they have manhattan beach rent to pay). an awesome event they host pretty often is their fill a bag for $5 sale. or $1 parking lot sale. these guys are pretty damn selective so you know even their sale items have gotta be pretty decent so youre sure to get a deal at one of those events. cute small play area for kids. just dont forget to pick up after your "angels". read more

I really wanted to like this place! I've waited for a while as a patron to give my feedback here, hoping my experience would improve. While their resale is ok, I have noticed that sometimes the retail appears to be somewhat well loved for the prices they ask. However my biggest gripe is my experiences with selling. This is the 3rd time I have gone, and the 2nd time that I have felt low-balled. I brought a big bag of clothes which were in great shape. They accepted more than half the bag, yet I was offered $12 in cash or $14 in store credit!!! I feel insulted! Not only will I never sell there again, I will never SHOP there again. They took a whole bag full of named brand clothes and only gave me $30 store credit. When i say named brand i mean vans shoes freshly picked mocs gap, nike, adidas, worn once or twice. They turn around and sell your stuff for much more. I just feel i should have got more in store credit but i guess thats how they make their money. I'll never be going back. I thought I might be able to sell a couple items we received for our daughter and never used but the person running the buying desk was really rude. She made me stand there 20 minutes past when they began buying even letting a woman who walked in about 15 minutes after I did sell her items first. And it's not like she didn't know I had been there. She had already interacted with me to let me know what time buying began and tell me she wouldn't buy one of my items. What she made me wait for (as she walked past me repeatedly) was to tell me that she wouldn't buy the other item I had with me either. Both were in plain sight, clearly displayed in my hands the whole time. She even moved both items around when she passed by me the first time. I know it's busy in there and I sure as hell wouldn't want to be doing that job, but I didn't need to be treated like that. Your time is valuable and so is mine. When she finally talked to me and I said that I wish she could have just told me she wouldn't have bought either of my items instead of making me wait that whole time she just smiled a not so kind smile as she turned and walked away. It was dismissive and just generally unkind. I'm not upset she wouldn't buy my items. That's totally fine. I knew that was a possibility. So it was my first time selling my sons clothes here and from what the reviews had said the buyer is extremely snobby. She doesn't care about any questions you have, and while I was waiting she used the phrase the line is really busy, but it was only like 2 people.. and they didn't have a lot. She's rude, doesn't have good customer service or a smile. Besides the fact this really is a great way to get cash or store credit for baby clothes. But Note snobby is picky. I had a great selection but all she took was the shoes and my sons designer clothes were only worth $7. My wife came in the store earlier today 9/19/2017 and purchased an item that was too big to cart home. I arrive after work to pixk the item up they have no idea what she purchased or where it is. They should put a name on items purchased for pick up later in the day and set them aside from the rest of the products in the store. The owners of this place are as rude as everyone says they are. I walked in at 4:30 with a brand-new baby carrier to consign. The owner looks at me with disgust, musters as big of a sigh as she can, raises her voice and tells me they stop taking stuff at 4:00 p.m. I said, "oh okay, do you mind if I ask why?" She literally proceeds to get into my face (i.e., gets so close that I had to back up and put up my hand as in, "please stop") and starts screaming at me that she "sent her buyer home." I could not make this up if I tried. Normally when reading this type of a review I would think, "there's gotta be something missing... something this person isn't telling me." Nope. Not the case. The owner is literally that UNSTABLE. I promptly drove to MyGym down the street, and donated the new baby carrier to the charity Baby2Baby. I rarely skip reading reviews on Yelp before doing anything, but this time, I skipped it and boy, do I regret it. This is a review for SELLING of things, not the purchasing experience. I left extremely displeased with my entire experience at The Children's Orchard in MB. I'll start from the beginning. I first walked in to sell a few items. I placed my name on the sign-in sheet and after waiting for about a half hour (I was second on the list), I had not been acknowledged and saw no end to my wait. So, I called and made an appointment. The woman who took the call seemed to be completely put out by the fact that I wanted an appointment and rudely told me to "bring everything, because you get a full hour." Then, she sounded downright proud of herself that her next available appointment was in a month. A MONTH. I waited the month. I found all the great things that I wanted to sell, and loaded them into my car. On the day of the appointment, even though the website states that "they'll even help you carry the stuff into the store" I got nothing of the sort. Not only did they not help me, one of them walked completely past me and the other person actually started asking questions about how to fold up my high chair - while I'm loading things into the store with a CRYING one year old still in his car seat in my car. They watched me and started picking through my things. No help, in fact they made it worse, for the seller. I brought in things that were barely used as I had heard that these sort of places were picky (although, after a quick look at the clothes they were selling, I was less than impressed). I brought things that were about a year old and unfortunately, seldom used. Some things just don't work for parents and children. We brought a Joovy Caboose Ultralight, a Graco High Chair and an Ergo baby carrier - all of which I was told were on their "wish list." I also brought tons of barely used great toys, Leapfrog Learn & Groove Table, a Little Tikes ramp, and other things like that. In addition, maternity clothes that still had the tags attached from the Gap, a brand new "sign with your baby" kit including a DVD and book, and just way too many more things to mention. The nasty lady with whom I was dealing told me to go across the street to the mall or to hang around in the store while she priced everything. She of course only told me this once I had unloaded everything into the store and gotten the one year old out of the car seat and into the store. Of course the store is kind of gross and had kids running around in it at this point, so we left and planned to come back in an hour. We were about to head back to the store when we had a diaper disaster, which made me about 7 minutes late (I remember looking at the clock and thinking I was in trouble!) Well, it turns out they only had my home number and when I got that home and checked, she had left a NASTY message telling me to come back. Finally, I get back to the store and find out that for all that work and "great" stuff, I can have a check for $120 or a credit for $180! I was stunned into submission. I'd already unloaded everything, and had been told that my stuff was great and that they have lists of people waiting for these things to come in to the store for sale. If I had my wits about me, I'd have packed up all that crap and tried to sell it on Craigslist or simply given it away! Honestly the only reason I skipped CL was because I didn't want to deal with strangers coming to the house, flaking out, etc. But looking back, I'd have gladly dealt with it for at least the big stuff. In closing, I'm pretty angry about the way I was treated, thought the staff/owners were completely unprofessional and rude, and the fact that I got screwed on the prices. I know they of course have to make money too, but I truly felt that the pricing was completely unfair and have already warned about thirty other Manhattan parents (AND COUNTING) whom I know about skipping the Children's Orchard. A bunch of people had already had very similar experiences, I wish I'd spoken to them first. read more

Childrens Orchard has saved me thousands of dollars over the years. You will not have to pick through crappy clothes to find that one nice shirt or pair of pants. The entire stores stock is like new. My son has had no idea that he's been wearing used clothes for most of his life. read more

I had the worst experience here!! As soon as I walk in the store the saleswomen had attitude. I brought a Baby Trend stroller, bouncer and bassinet. She wanted $15 for the (brand new) stroller AND the bouncer and didn't even want the bassinet because it was "too old". She was rude and disrespectful so I grabbed all my stuff and went to Double Time in Redondo Beach (they took all my stuff and paid me three times more!!) I will never go to another one of their stores again!! The staff was unprofessional and borderline racist towards me. Ugh, never again will go go to a new place without reading the reviews on yelp. I visited the website before I looked into reselling my children's clothes so I knew what to expect when I got there. The website said they would help me unload all of my stuff and whatever they didn't take they would donate it for me. I had 6 heavy bags of gently used clothes, shoes and toys from specialty shops. I only brought the things that I thought they would actually take, nothing was torn, tattered or dirty. 1. I went inside to tell them I was there for my appointment but they told me to bring all of my stuff in. Even though when I called for my appointment, they asked if I would need help carrying my items in, I said yes. 2. I saw racks full of obviously old clothes with pearls in the fabric, wear in the knees, unclean toys which all seems so overpriced. 3. Only 7 items out of my six bags were accepted and when I asked what I do with all the rest of my things the store assistant said "Well, they are yours". So I had to reload my car full of six heavy bags. This place was so unfriendly. I feel sorry for people that shop there because they are obviously getting ripped off because of how they price their worn, tattered clothes. Target clothes are much cheaper and brand new. I love supporting small businesses but this one is a major disgrace. I would give it less than a quarter of a star if I could. read more

Quite a few merchandise at reasonably low prices, and some of items are brand new. Do NOT sell your stuff at this place because they give you peanuts for the items. I provided a several brand new items to sell (brand new clothes& shoes, music table, brand new sleepsacks) and they only offered me $15 for what was hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise. The staff was also a bit rude when I went to pay for an item and wanted to use the Yelp check-in to get a discount. They actually tried to discourage me from checking in to get a discount. Why even offer the yelp check-in discount and have a sign next to the register when you are trying to discourage your customers from using it?! You're going to get very very little for what you bring in, even if new without tags gymboree items. They took 18 items in total and offered me $12 in store credit. It was shocking. But not entirely different than other resale shops. The selection of girls clothes sizes 8-12 was limited, but I was there the day after the $1 sale started. Get on their mailing list and shop the first day they have a $1 sale and you can score well. Overall, it is an ok store, but again, expect to get peanuts for your nice items. Didn't even get $1 PER ITEM for what they took, and it felt like highway robbery to say the least, considering there were a few great outfits, some new fleece snow suits, and a very lightly worn gymboree winter jacket. read more

I have been going to this store for years and just read the reviews. I cannot believe what I was reading because the staff and owner are always helpful and courteous and friendly. If the store does not have a large stock then its because people are not bringing items for them to sell. Everything I have bought has been in great shape and is reasonably priced. My experience has been excellent and my grandson has gotten lots of great clothes from this place. Try it out your self rather than reading these reviews.
