Another hole in the wall alert. Say whaaatttt? On Canoga, in the middle of little warehouses and businesses, there's a nook of restaurants. I love pesto noodles so I ordered the TALLARIN VERDE (beef with pesto noodles) YUM! With a choice of 8 oz churrasco or grilled steak. I opted for the grilled steak. It was loaded with beef! Or try the: Lomo Saltado. Both are very fine dishes to try out. Best part, the pregame of fresh, hot basket of bread with butter that melts in your mouth goodness. It was my first time here. I came here with my ex boyfriend(he's from Chile) for an early lunch. He said it was a good place to have some Chilean food, the man wasn't lying. He ordered a bunch of food(as always)...I forgot the names of the dishes but I know our main dish was a burger looking thing with shredded beef. BUT FIRST TO START OFF WITH we had one shrimp, one ham &cheese, and 2 beef empanadas. Followed by an avocado and celery salad with a side of sliced tomatoes. Overall it was super tasteful. I never thought of ever trying Chilean food despite dating something from Chile. Will definitely come here again! The staff is super friendly and the place is small but a big mom and pop shop. Don't buy the Humitas! What a disappointment. They must be adding masa harina - they were dry and hard not soupy and sweet and not nearly enough basil. The torta de mil hojas was also very dry - the pastry, and not enough filling of custard and manjar. Maybe it's a new Chef! read more

This review is not their overall performance its the tonight's performance: Tonight I am disappointed . I ordered TO GO the chicken saltado and the seafood saltado. I specifically said " please do not forget the green sauce " ( and I literally said that when placing the order !!! ) - they forgot the green sauce !!! . Without the sauce this tastes just plain just not right ! My husband is really really upset - we are tired - we were ready to eat- - and now he has to go back for the sauce . We live 10 min away ! I called and they say they give us the sauce but i think they should have offered a free desert or deliver the sauce or something . Who is gonna pay for my gas and give me back my wasted time? ? How basic is to give the sauce with the saltado ? I loved this place and I ordered a ton of empanadas last time ( like 20 or more ) and they were good and we got a lot of sauce , i don't know what is happening tonight , not happy . By the time he came back with the sauce, our food was cold and wet as the heat created humidity in the box and the water dripped on the food..... I ate the food that came fresh out of the kitchen so fast the usual picture of the food would've shown a puff of smoke with a silhouette of what the food might have looked like, just kidding. Andrea was very accommodating for my first time visiting Chilenazo. They also have some tasty looking pastries that are made in house which I'll probably get during the next visit here. Oh also, the yelp time for this place shows that they are open at 11am, however, they were open earlier in which Andrea explained that they are open at around 8am to serve breakfast as well. read more

The best place for Chilean food ! Just wish it was closer to LA to be able to go more often. My husband was born and raised in Chile and this is the spot he'll go to when missing traditional food from Chile. We always get empanadas de pino and mariscos . They do a pretty good job with them. The bread is also well made, we've tried them all. It's not completely authentic, but it's the best Chilean bread you'll find in LA. The sandwiches are also not bad . My husband is a fan of the majority of their desserts. The alfajores and empolvados are really good. And last but not least , my favorite, and also approved by husband, the pastel de choclo! ¿Como estai, huevon? I was in Chile for three weeks, so I have an idea what some Chilean dishes are like. And the food in this restaurant's good enough to make you shout, "¡Hay harto deliciosa!" My palola and I ordered a chacarero completo (sandwich with beef, avocado, string beans, and mayonnaise apparently made in the restaurant - Chileans love mayonnaise), regular size, which is about the size of a typical hamburger bun, and pastel de choclo, a meat and corn pie, which comes with a salad. Both were good. The chacarero completo tasted basically like the chacareros I got in Chile. The service was good. The food came quickly, and the people were friendly. The regular size chacarero completo was $10, and the pastel de choclo was $11. As of this writing, they do not have beer or wine. The pastries look delicious but we were too full to get any this time. But we'll be back. They take credit cards, in case it matters. I'm willing to bet they take cash too. :D read more

Based on my search, Chilenazo is 1 out of 3 Chilean restaurants in Los Angeles. Based on Yelp photos of the food at all 3 restos, Chilenazo might serve the best Chilean food in LA. I ordered the Humita con Chilena which is a different style of tamal because it has a pudding like consistency, wrapped in a corn husk. I also tasted their Chilean beef empanada which comes with salsa. It was unique because of how it is folded and includes a hard boiled egg inside. What you'll find is a low key, casual restaurant with a large television (the World Cup was on Telemundo) and table service. Friendly and attentive, I'd like to add. It's right next to Oi Filipino Fusion with ample parking. There's desserts and some South American beverages. And some special dishes on the board. If you'd like a taste of Chilean food without hopping on an airplane, I highly recommend dining here, then doing a bang-bang over at Oi for their wildly addicting Filipino pork belly bowl. Ive never had Chilean food and have no idea how authentic this place, but it definitely seemed like a busy place with lots of to-go orders...the majority of people eating there also seemed to be hispanic. They have really good bread here! It was very soft and warm and came with butter and yummy salsaaa! I ordered this entree that came with a chicken stew, rice, french fries, and a chilean salad. My boyfriend got a sandwich type thing with meat, avocado, fries, and idk what else. Everything on my plate was delicious! The portion size was large, my only complaint is that the stew wasnt separated, which made some of my fries soggy. Boyfriend seemed to enjoy his sandwich. I didn't really like the "chilean salad". I didnt get the traditional ones with tomatoes, but opted for the green one that contained lettuce and some other green veggies (like celery). Mmm maybe I'd go back. First time here, my husband and I just moved into the neighborhood so we are exploring some places to eat and we saw in Yelp that this place was really good. Also, first time eating food from Chile. The place is small but it is nice and the staff is really nice. We love their bread that they give out and their empanadas are good. We didn't really like the stuffed potatoes. It tasted too sour. We thought, maybe they put too much lemon or lime, or it was going bad. The chicken rice was good, but some of the chicken taste like it was pre heated chicken and not fresh cooked. I work in a small health clinic and were celebrating the doctors birthday a few days ago. He brought in empanadas from Chilenazo (yes, he brought food for his own party!!) and they were so good, I had to draft a review as soon as I ate them. Our doctor was born and raised in Buenos Aires - he has travelled around the world and continues to do so. Needless to say, he has a refined palate when it comes to authentic foods. This one hit the nail on the head. I only two empanadas, the beef and the ham and cheese, before I got full! The beef was juicy and savory. There were onions and olives (or raisins - we weren't sure) inside it, but the flavors meshed would well together that I forgot that I usually don't like olives or raisins!! There was even parts of a hard boiled egg inside. The ham and cheese tasted like an ultimate supreme hot pocket with real cheese. There were no complaints here. What really ties everything together was the dough! The composition and texture wasn't too dry or crispy - but it wouldn't fall apart either. It pieced the empanada together perfectly. I love that they put Chilean bread (hallullas and dobladitas) with butter and pebre while you're waiting for your meal.
