with all these bad reviews you would think they would get their servers, and waiters in check, the food is good, but the service varies, I've had more bad servers & waiters than good ones. I understand they have a lot going on sometimes but I go when it's pretty empty, and they still struggle to provide descent service, which is a shame, and why we get it to go most times these days, you can only ask for a refill so many times before you "accidentally" drop the cup of ice onto the floor for attention, it's really sad that they don't take pride in their jobs, and the managers don't say anything to them, we live in 2016 where people don't get fired anymore for bad service because half the time their buddies with their manager, when will be have to pay for their actions? how many more bad reviews does this one place need before you have a talk with the whole staff..... get your shit together chilis, we are paying for food, and good service, not some flop who can't get me water. This is by far the worst dining experience that we've ever had at a Chilis restaurant. The service was thoroughly slow and incompetent from start to finish. For starters, it took 30 minutes for us to be seated. After we ordered our entrees, it took another 45 minutes for us to receive our meals and, by that time, we had lost our appetite. The waitress was often nowhere to be found and even neglected to provide us with basic utensils. And, it wasn't just us that suffered through this incompetence; practically everyone around us had the same complaints and look of frustration. This restaurant is always hit & miss and we usually avoid it. Being in Los Banos though, there aren't many options. We went there tonight for dinner, and should've known off the bat that it would be bad. It took forever before we were even approached to order drinks, and that was our experience throughout dinner. Our waitress pretty much left us unattended--no drink refills, no napkins, no extra plate as we'd requested. Finally the manager began waiting on us--he brought us refills, napkins, checked in on us. As he gave us our bill, I let him know that our server had been extremely inattentive. He acknowledged this and apologized, and I felt better UNTIL he began making excuses for her, saying her partner had been on break so she'd been too busy, that "unfortunately California state law requires that we give our employees breaks." I've been employed for years and am completely aware of the law, but this is no excuse for poor service, and we will not be going back read more

They are lucky to get one star after tonight's service!!! Came in for what is usually a very pleasant dining experience, but left extremely disappointed!!! To start off we didn't receive appetizers until after our dinner arrived!! I noticed an adjacent table that was getting exceptional service while our table received subpar service, surprising found she was a manager at this restaurant!!! I had ordered the short rib enchiladas & got chicken enchiladas, sent them back & was told they ran out. No communication to me whatsoever about the substitution!!! So my boyfriend was sitting there with his dinner while I had to make a different selection! Bar service was to say the least ok, supposedly they were out of whiskey for the Irish coffee that was ordered & no substitution was offered, I noticed at 3 different whiskeys at the bar! The mashed potatoes that my boyfriend ordered with his ribs had cheese on them that had coagulated again from sitting under a heat lamp & became a clump of who knows what!! Broccoli was over cooked & tasteless!!! Come on people we have fresh vegetables at our disposal, don't kill them!!! We love this Chile's and stop often when we are on a road trip in the area. Usually rate the experience higher, but this time the service was terrible. Our order was taken, when we asked, by a server from another station, who was going off shift. She was good, and brought our drinks, salads and appetizers quickly. The ding bat that took over was missing in action. Seriously....we couldn't find her! No drink refills, food delivered cold, had to ask someone else for a to-go box, and finally hunted her down for the check. She must be independently wealthy, and not in need of tips. This place is popular every night - always a lot of cars. I think the food is fine. I have not had a bad experience, but I was upset when they took off the habanero honey chicken tenders from their menu. Those things were amazing! I always get the strawberry lemonade but if anything, that is hit and miss. The bottomless chips and salsa are my favorite. I have gone here once for happy hour with some girlfriends and it was pretty dead. There was a football game on and a few guys watching it. The waitress did check all their vodka to see if one was made from potatoes. (My friend has a gluten intolerance) They did not have one, but it was nice of her to check. I will continue to come here from time to time, especially when my son's school has a fundraiser here, but that's about it. It's fine - it is what you would expect of a chain restaurant. Always check online for coupons prior to coming. Free appetizer and free dessert coupons can always be found. Speaking of desserts, they have a skillet cookie one. Totally awesome. read more

Family and I went there for lunch service started out great ordered our food everything came out fairly quick however I ordered a turkey burger and got a burger sent it back server apologized said it wouldn't be long and I would have the right order out took almost 30 minutes meanwhile my family was done with their meals good finally came out and had so much salt I couldn't even eat it. Bill came and nothing was even comped when we asked the waitress she stated the other order of the wrong burger was comped! They were really gonna charge us for they meal they made wrong?!! I LOVE chilis but this location is HORRIBLE! they have a great location but they are not prepared for customers. I visited today around 12:30 for lunch. we waited for 10 mins until we were acknowledged by any worker, that should have been a clue. once seated, our drink order was taken, then the waitress came to take our food order. they brought the starters within 10 mins. we never got our main course after waiting an hr without any refills on chips/salsa or drink refills. the waitress refilled drinks for several tables around us 4+ times. we had our empty cups sitting on edge of table, she had no clue what that meant apparently. i finally decided i was gonna go talk to the manager- when i stood up there was NO workers in sight. we finally got up and left without any further acknowledgement from any worker. they need to hire workers that have experience in customer service, maybe they would get more customers. this place is hit or miss. Yesterday, I had ribs. I wasn't in a mood to cook, or go to a sit down restaurant, so I ordered some ribs to go. I picked up my order and went home. I couldnt wait to eat, cuz it smelled delicious. The loaded mashed potatoes and the corn on the cob was great, but the ribs, not so much. The ribs were overcooked. Tough to chew. and for an order that was supposedly just made, the sauce was cold. If I wasnt feeling so worn-out, I would have taken them back. Bad experience overall. Not to mention that I waited over 5 minutes in the take out order area before someone finally asked if I needed help. Then they told me I needed to go to the bartender to receive my food. We go here once a week after a long week of working and today was the worst my steak was ask to be well done and came bloody my family ate cold food by the time my food came out my steak was still red after the second time! I had a side of broccoli and it had pepper on it and my son is allergic to pepper When brought to the general manager Edgar. He began to say kids entree didn't have pepper and adults do, instead of understanding why we were upset due to our sons allergy, at that point we ask for check and ask that my dinner be token off since my family ate and I didn't want to wait for my order to be Fixed a 3rd time. The manager then came back and stated he didn't make the menu and that The steak had bites out of it I said no I cut it open and threw it on the side plate and I could put them back on the plate and i asked y he was arguing with my husband at that point I just told him keep the $100 and still he ignored what I was saying and continue arguing with my husband. We asked for him to get the check 4x and still he continue to argue till we got up and said if your not getting the check then we are going to leave. I feel really bad giving this review because the people that work there were nice enough. However, continuing to say you are sorry but nothing getting done does not make you feel any better. I admit we were a larger party of 15. I am not sure the size of our party justified it taking two hours for dinner. We waited over an hour to get our food. When it finally came out, in batches, The cheese for our fajitas appeared to have some mold on it. We sent it back and it took some time for the guy to come back and tell us it wasn't mold but specks from another cheese. We had four "boats" with cheese on it and they all had something on it. It is obviously bagged cheese so don't know if it was mold or something from another cheese but we know how easy bagged cheese gets mold so we opted to skip the cheese. It took another long wait before he finally came back with the guacamole and sour cream that was supposed to come with the fajitas. Needless to say, at that point it was too late. I had to go find the server to ask her for our tag and a couple of boxes. She brought the boxes and offered to cash us out, without us even seeing the tag. I told her I wanted to see the tag which meant another long wait. When she brought the tag for me to sign, I did not get the original receipt back. I wasn't going to ask for it again because I knew it would mean another long wait so left without it. I got to thinking on my way home that the totals didn't sound right so I called and asked about it when I got home. As it turns out I think it was correct so that was ok because he did tell me I could go back and get a copy. I really hate to be a complainer but felt the service was so bad and our family came out saying we would NEVER go there again I decided to mention it to Juan. He did apologize and admitted he knew we had to wait a long time for our food but they were short handed. (Apparently, they are always short handed when we go because the service is always slow, but never as bad as tonight.) He said he would appreciate it if we gave them another chance. Sorry, Juan. I am not the type that is looking for something free, however, had you said to come back and you would buy a drink, an appetizer, give a credit or anything, maybe I might have considered it. This chili's has not been one of my favorite local eateries due to slow service, loud screaming kids, so-so food, but we thought we'd try again. This was a late afternoon Wednesday, only 1 other small party in the restaurant. We (3 women) thought we'd eat in the bar because we've done this many times in the past and we've seen other patrons do this. We were told, rudely, by the bar tender no food service in the bar, but yet we saw a young Hispanic cute woman in the bar corner was served a full meal in there. The food was so-so. A member of my party asked for a gift card and ordered it from the "manager" (I use this term loosely. the individual spoke little-to-no english). When the manager returned, 30 minutes, later waved it in the air asking "who is the gift card from?" Really? we were standing in the same place, all 3 of us. Service was slow to even give refills on water or ask if we'd like other beverage refills. Mind you: there is still only one other small party in the joint. Very poor service, food so-so-, apparently only certain people can eat in the bar. We gave it a chance, We saw, We Left, We will not return. read more

Went there about a week ago and the service was horrible. Our waitress took forever to take our drink order. Asked me twice and I still received the wrong drink. We ordered appetizers and then 30+ minutes go by and we hadn't even ordered our main course yet. My husband ordered another drink and 20 mins went by and we never received it. We finally ordered and then our kids meals came out and 30 mins after we still hadn't received our food. Finally I flagged someone down because our waitress went missing. Finally a manager comes and we ask him to take our food off our tag so we can go and he asks why. I explain we've been waiting for like a an hour for food. They kept asking if we just didn't want our food which was conveniently done once we complained. I just kept repeating please take it off so we can pay and go. They kept asking if we wanted to take it to go I insisted no please just take it off. The waitress then comes to try and explain herself about how she rushed the kids food but not ours because that's what other servers do. But she failed to ask if that's what we wanted. It was just a horrible experience and we will probably stay away for awhile. After 15 minutes of asking for our meals to be removed it finally was. read more
